Regretting one's past ruinous actions

is certainly a waste of precious time

wise would be to use the lessons learned

to build his future's edifice sublime!

A new guy I’d met said to me,
“We ought to have cake by the sea.”
As he gazed in my eyes,
I did not realize
He spoke metaphorically.

A tiny bikini I wore
That day we strolled down to the shore.
No cake did I see,
Which seemed odd to me
Since cake was the thing I’d come for!

He’d hidden it. . .....

Regretting Cake

Written for the contest "Regretting Cake"

The drunken groom,
was in his bedroom,
as I had my cake with his bride.
And in hindsight I would chide
myself for charming, smiling,
and to her causing alarming
intimation of satiation loom.

His best man and kin,
were coaxing his skin,
into the nuptial shower.
But the party slowed the last hour,
and the cake sugar did empower
our...

So my friend said his sister was saying her vows
In a low key church ceremony three weeks from now
No parties, no showers, no flowers, no muss
But I thought to myself she deserved a small fuss!

So I planned a surprise that would redden her face
A Bachelorette Party so hot and debase
She would never forget for...

(Not) Regretting Cake

Never ending restrictions are slave driver’s tools a debatable concept wielding

Onslaughts on conscience asceticism zero sums zero size and perfection

To not trespass the segments of cake the boundaries and frontiers rules and

Regulations to not violate prescriptions norms dogma seems violent in itself

Regretting Cake Takes Two

Rachael looked sheepishly like a hawk in disguise claws clenched meticulous sharpened
yet hidden her sullen face pressing wrinkled no motion frosted lips the icing on the cake
It had meant to be such a happy occasion armistice peace offering one last final relaunch resolution presented in vain but sourced from a chalice of...

Regrets I Regret Regretting

Did you mention 'regrets'?

I have one or two, a few or possibly a million.
Depends on which way the wind is blowing,
and how gracious I'm feeling in the moment
Like, I'll never forgive that guy who butchered
my ideals of love everlasting, that'll last a lifetime
nor, when he lied about my best friend, just
to prove a point...

Regretting Cake

The moment I stepped on the scale,
my mouth started to shout and wail,
not that many pounds!
My belly’s so round,
I’m starting to look like a whale!

I shouldn’t have eaten more cheesecake,
it sure was my biggest mistake,
no more skinny me,
three hundred eighty,
so heavy I may cause a quake!

I no longer can wear tight jeggin’s,
not...

Regretting Cake

This may seem odd, but on this take,
The only cake I regretted was the one I didn't bake.

As a child my mom taught me the art of beating the mix,
Showing me the variations that were her little "tricks".

The one that I make mention of is one never made,
Because before it went into the oven I...

Regretting Cake

Having a dinner party that night
I was getting the meal prepared,
had all the steaks and salad ready
but nothing yet for dessert,
feeling like a Betty Crocker,
but with little time left,
decided to make an upside down
pineapple cake from scratch,
getting out a recipe from Good
Housekeeping from the rack,
reading the fine print,
I went right to work,
whipping up all the...

Pineapple cake tempted my taste buds
Sliced in the lunch hour of the work
Single slice was not ample

Tasting two slices
Without thinking
In high blood

Regretting Cake

Don’t eat cake, they said; it goes to your hips
That’d be sexy, I think and lick the cream on my lips
Don’t eat cake, they said; it goes to your thigh
A little cushion on those matchsticks I can’t deny
I ate seconds with cream so yummy
It sat layered on my once flat tummy
Making it protrude in bulk...
