Premium Member Ode To Summer

Farewell, au revoir, goodbye, convivial summer.
The day is late now, and the breeze is warmer.
A vacant ocean-side barricaded motel.
Wild geese are soon flying in lines as well.

Vacation homes drop their literate barricades.
This rich sweeping green tone will soon fade.
In this season, buds and fruits are abundant.
Melons and garden load are ardent.

Tanned skin, sailboats, and folded linen suits.
When the world is more positive than disputes,
Pollen irritates the sinuses of sensitive patients.
Now they've fled to the farm, the coast nascent.

Stop their passing endeavor at escape.
The Ferris wheel in LEGOLAND is agape.
The Cape no longer trades in quirkiness.
A glum family descends from the murkiness.

To welcome their offspring back from camp.
Mature year, scarlet maple boughs, raised scamp.
Sunburned shoulders disappear at summer's end.
Goodbye to the peasant's headband.

Goodbye storms and dirty white shoes.
Goodbye summer friends, pants, shorts, and cruse.
Farewell, tennis peculiar desire to be difficult.
Farewell picnics, ice tea, and plane trips, munificent.

Truly, Your Photographer

It may be just a portion
Perhaps a small detail
To get your fire scorching
Or lift your deceiving veil

One tenth of a second
The pressure of my finger
A tangible gift beckoned
It will forever linger

My quirkiness is a blessing
Oddness birthed beauty
Ingredients in my dressing
Don't harm, but rather suit me

I don't anticipate riches
At least, not by formal currency
My prize is within the stitches
Sewn together for you to see

I'm humbled by the art
I have the pleasure of showing
On your wall, Pieces of my heart
A gift that keeps bestowing

Numbers Do Lie

If you believe in numbers,
then the evidence is in ...
and we all know that numbers don't lie
Mr. Forty-six Percent President,
popular opinion ain't the reason why
you're moving into the White House
Numbers can make you sick sometimes
when they don't jibe with reality
Seems you got well,
running a hot, 304 electoral fever
Made all the talking heads swell,
as you recovered,
and the media became the casualty
The numbers don't tell the truth,
as least like they're suppose to
I got over 65 million reasons why,
suggesting numbers indeed do lie
If you don't believe what I'm saying,
it probably because you're inaugurally in shock
But that's okay,
more therapeutic numbers for you I got
That old, rickety populist bus
got nearly three millions votes left in the dust
Yet somehow that clunker crossed the finish line first,
I guess you win by coming in reverse
Never mind what the numbers say ...
though the loser had two percent more,
just shuffle the one man, one vote straight out the backdoor
I'm really trying
to give this quirkiness a positive spin
But it's really hard
to make sense of it all
by the raw numbers that came in
So don't believe in numbers ...
they're lying to you,
my vagabond voting friend
The joker is the trump card,
it beats any number for the win

I'M Looking At Your Shadow

I'm looking at your shadow
It is cast bigger than what is your truth
The curve of your breasts accentuated,
your contour smooth as it gently glides down towards your hips,
rounding your buttocks to perfect proportions and your thighs just right.
Your calves perfect as they wind down to your dainty feet.

What it doesn't show is that your lower lip
slightly larger than the upper,
when coaxed, parts to reveal an endearing tooth gap
trademarking your smile...

The striations on your breasts and abdomen
from where you nurtured your baby
even before its first breath of life,
to a perfect being of reasoning and effort.

The slight outgrowth on your big toe
passed down from generation to generation,
brought forth and as your predecessors
toiled and tilled the soil that now claims you.

It is a shame indeed, that it does not show your eyes,
deep set and cast like smooth, molten chocolate and just as soft.
Bejeweled with a spark of curiosity and quirkiness completely your own
As your thick lashes fan out of your skin,
often trapping tears that represent your big heart

Why hide in your perfect shadow ,when imperfections reveal the beauty of a life uniquely yours?
Claim it, own it, Live it...

Sherman Sheep- Part Two of Bovine One

The sheep in the nearby pasture
Heard what the cows had done
In the building of their rocket ship
And they too wanted one

A few of them shaved for pocket money
Black market wool brings a hefty price
While some went out to Las Vegas
To try their luck at the roll of the dice

First thing they did with the money
Was to spring for Sherman's release
The only one in the family to go to Harvard
Though it was for experiments on his mind which apparently they fleeced

Right away they noticed something odd about Sherman
Something that just wasn't quite right
But passed it off as genius quirkiness
And let that idea slide by

They told Sherman what it was they wanted
Said he had a mad...um...master plan
All the sheep turned and Baaa'd together
What was that, that he just said?

For weeks all they heard was banging and clanging
From inside their farmers shed
The only activity they saw outside
The massive delivery of Dominos crazy bread

One day the shed doors flew wide open
There stood Sherman as mad as acid rain
No doubt among the sheep in the pasture
He was Bonkers, Loony, Loopy...okay Sherman's insane

As he drug his creation into the open
Not a one in the crowd uttered a word
Till little Bobby Black Sheep spoke up and said
Is that a cows udder?...is that what they think that they just herd?!

Sherman took that moment of bewilderment
To swing onto udder #4
Strapping himself inside of his contraption
And shooting off for the stars

Sherman is still up there circling the planet
Did you hear about the phenomenon in Spain?
Just the other day something amazing there happened
There was the pouring of milk instead of rain...

But we know how that miracle happened
And that it came from the udders galore
Cause when your traveling through space like Sherman
What else would udders be for

Just heard from the Pigs...
They too want a piece of this action...

Serious Sibling Subluxation...
Rapprochement Somewhat Salvaged Dislocation

Can of Spam

First thing I do is check the date
Good thru two thousand eighty five
Haven't had a can this fresh
Since Calvin Coolidge was alive

You can call it quirkiness
Each time I give the top a thump
Best way to tell if it's perfectly jelled
To the consistency that I love

If you know what I'm taking about
Well right you are and yes I am
That delectable treat of mystery meat
Known around the world as A Can Of Spam

Spam only comes in one savory flavor
King of canned meat there is only one
You remember long after your dining pleasure
By the amount of film left on your tongue

Do as I do and save the lid
A smart move you would be making
Comes in handy after dining
To help along with the tongue scraping

Someday

someday, it will
maybe,
someday it will come.
the day that i wait for the rest of my life,
someday,
it will pass by,
the feelings i have for you that last,
maybe,
you changed too much,
being a person that i never recognized you anymore,
indeed,
i am hoping that you live it sincerely,
not because of someone else,
but because of you,
i do feel sad,
i knew you for yourself,
i liked you for your quirkiness,
i admired you for your confidence,
but now,
it seems that i actually make up a reason,
for not liking you anymore,
as the moment you changed,
i tried my best to accepted,
but i failed in changing,
i still love you now,
i still admired you now,
i still want to hold on you now,
until the last day my heart beat for you,
i will be there for you,
by hook or by crook,
by knowing by you or not,
i make my promised,
until fate part us in times,
until destiny changes their way,
i will be here,
even you knew me or not,
i will be here,
right by your side.
and someday,
it will.

This Life

Soft lines on my face carving deeper, I age
A tale of my years as I stare blank and dismayed

Eyes alive and expressive, so much youth held within
Yet the softness and creases scream my years when I grin

Bones that do creak, maybe now just a little
Tells a story of how these great bones will soon brittle

Memories of past years, I haven’t lived life to the fullest
I have a yearning it screams loud “go travel, be a tourist.”

I scream STOP please relax, take a breath, 1, 2, 3
Who am I kidding I’ve plenty of good years still in me

I gaze up and afar as I look past the night stars
yes this life may be short but I can still take it far

My eyes may be dim and my hair soon will silver
But there’s no way I’ll leave this life as a quiver

I’ll grab all and explore , as much as I can
Ill mediate, Ill dance, Ill sing loud with the band

Ill caress all my lines and my creaking old bones
Yes my life always full, I am never alone

I have love , great friends and natures skies of so blue
A strong loving heart and some quirkiness too

I’ll live life , yes I will
and then I will leave with a bang….

I know those lives I have touched
will surely whisper my name.

Quirkiness of My Memory

A Little Off

nothing seems to work out
the way i have it planned
when the crowd sits down
that's when i decide to stand

things always seem to go
a tad bit different for me
just a tick or two off
from what's considered life's normal beat

when they're no longer taking questions
that is when i raise my hand
when they ask for women volunteers
i stand up like a man

people often wonder
exactly what it is
that continually brings about
this life of quirkiness

my friends, they ask quite often
is there a cure for what i do
9 out of 9 doctors surveyed
say they don't have a clue

guess i'll continue living life
the way it is i am
as long as i'm happy with it
i see no need to try and understand
