Best Merryman Poems
[A Pleiades consists of 7 lines, each having 6 syllables.
The title consists of ONE word only (and that word will NOT
be used again in the poem itself). The first word in each line
begins with the same letter as the title.]
Obsessed by jealousy
Overwhelmed to the point
Of no return, I reach
Out to you for comfort
Ousting repulsive thoughts
Opting to replenish
Our parched and arid love.

Life
sparkles
in
sultry,
smoky eyes.
Velvet
smooth,
black skin
patterned from
heart and soul of
Africa’s
fertile
womb…
cherished
creation
fashioned
by
breath of
God!

There was once an elf who learnt how to brew
a full-bodied beer and cook Irish stew.
He mixed them both together
with whisky for good measure.
When BANG went the pot a tantrum he threw!

My babies have all gone,
They've grown and left the nest,
Spreading out their wings to fly,
Upon life's thrilling quest.
The years flew by so quickly.
Babies turned into little boys.
Little boys grew into manhood,
Putting away their childish toys.
I miss those little boy faces,
With their mischievous, winsome smiles.
I miss their childish chatter,
And their creative little boy wiles.
Why didn't I pay more attention?
Why didn't I play with them more?
Why didn't I realize how fleeting time was?
But I didn't and it makes my heart sore.
I miss the little boys that my sons were,
But I'm proud of the men they've grown to be.
They will always be my little boys,
And I will treasure each and every memory.

He pops the cork from vintage vine,
then bubbles dance in scarlet wine
I look his way, his eyes find mine
The stars align, the stars align!
He pours the glass, and as it tips
one drop remains there, as I sip
I leave for him upon my lips
My heartbeat skips, my heartbeat skips!
The wine my lips had not yet met
becomes a bliss, I'll not forget
A kiss that tastes of sweet claret
Not one regret, not one regret

It's not too late to make your dreams come true.
Can you recall sweet childhood and spontaneity?
Something still is shining; let it beckon you.
With hope, go out into the night, and like a child be!
Make a wish upon the first radiant star you see.

They split and chose divergent ways.
I wondered where their love had gone.
There was no sign of passing phase;
They split and chose divergent ways
As embers died after the blaze
Turning to ashes. Thereupon,
They split and chose divergent ways.
I wondered where their love had gone.

Returning compliments
Received, a kind word to
Redeem a thoughtless tongue
Reach out to the shy ones
Remember when you were
Raw and blue, the one who
Relieved your wounded wings~

Waves
crashing;
then
breaking
on the beach.
Ebbing
and
flowing
tides controlled
by moon and earth.
Twice a day
high tides
and
low tides;
dancing waves
enchant
for
ever
more

Omen of hope divine
Oasis of blessed calm
Orchard of my plenty
Obscure, yet almighty
Obliged, I seek you out
Obeisant, I kneel down
Obeying your command

Impassioned pleas for help -
inviting God to work
in people's hearts and lives.
Incomparable peace
infuses our soul when
intense prayers are wrought,
instilling faith and hope.

O Lord, my God, I need your help,
I don't know what to do.
Fear and worry have gained control,
I need to hear from You.
Be still, My child, and know I'm here,
Open your eyes and see,
I am your Rock and your Strong Tower,
Come hide yourself in Me.
Lord, I know that You are God,
You are mighty and You are strong,
But I need Your help right now!
What's taking You so long?
My child, I know just what you need,
Lay down your fears and rest.
Don't you know I'm in control,
And that My timing's best?
Lord, I know You're in control,
But still I am afraid.
I'm sorry that my faith's so weak,
Please hurry to my aid.
Fear not my child, you are not alone,
I'm always here with you.
Trust in Me with all your heart,
There is nothing I can't do.
O Lord, my God, how great You are,
You are worthy of all praise!
Help me to walk with eyes of faith,
As I live out all my days.
My precious child, I love you so,
And I have a plan for you.
You may not understand it all,
But trust Me to see you through.

Ribbon arcs across skies;
Red, orange and yellow
Revel with blue, green and
Ravishing violet

Bowled over completely
By the sight of flowers
Beside the babbling brook
Breathtakingly adorned
Balancing on tiptoes
Before my eyes, poised like
Bolshoi ballerinas.

I In the rich brown earth, a deeper pain conceals
N Not just the myth, of war on foreign fields
D Death's toll and the greater cost reveals
E Each life, each loss, that paves our freedom trail
P Pride reminds us of the sacrifice
E Each mother's tears should not be theirs alone
N Nations rich in history's reward
D Demand that freedom is the final word !
E Every heart must keep the names alive
N Never let the guard down or the pride
C Choose to honor all who fought and died
E Exercising freedom's gifts, which is our Godly right !
