Chandelier earrings dangling
Golden bangles jingling
Thick long raven hair
Twisted and pinned in swirls
With ornate gold embellishment
Luxuriously wrapped
In silk and brocade
Lavish lengths
Of rich flamboyant colors
Parading effortlessly
Their exotic saris
Swaying in graceful rhythm
Gliding by on air
In exquisite hues
And charms of opulence

As I wend my way around curving roads
up high into the mountains
I finally arrive at the Eight Gables Inn.
I wonder what it is that drives me here!
Perhaps I have developed wings
and flew across the Atlantic towards
The Great Smoky Mountains
on my adventurous ride
to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Tired I hope the Inn
will live up to its reputation.
The sun is setting as I view
the purple orange skies darken,
whilst here and there lights
in desolate cottages twinkle in the dark.
I hasten to my private bath
and slowly sink in the warm water,
overpowered by the smell of soapy foams.
Pleased with my silky skin
I put on a plush bathrobe
luxuriously enjoying the feel
of the soft fabric against my spores,
and with a graceful dive find myself
on top of a feather-top bed.
This is the life of luxury...

Until I feel the taste of blotting paper
that cover my whole mouth.
I open my eyes and know
it was all a dream, alas.

Green Ladybugs

It is said that deep in the forest green
And close to the silent flowing river
Where mystical green flowers lean
Along the banks marked with silver
Soft and damp with the dew shower

There lives a clan of ladybirds
Small and green and dotted with purple
They fly around dancing in herds
Tasting the nectar from the mighty maple
Which grow along the bank, in ample

And many a times when the night turns dark
And the moon shines silvery and bright
The ladybirds would be seen in an arc
Singing a sweet song of delight
Of pure love of a lady and a knight

And when the summer is tired and sleepy
And the golden buttercups filled with dew
The ladybugs gently slide under the canopy
To luxuriously bathe in this nature’s brew
And come out relaxed and shining new

Awakenings

In a beautiful green valley
Where wild flowers grow
Comes the first blanketing of winter's snow
The clouds up above float luxuriously by
As I lay and stare at the wonderous sky
I can hear the wind whisper thru the trees
And smell the crisp air in the gentle breeze
I can not touch or feel
The feeling is slightly surreal
I cast my eyes down
To see what lays ahead
It is then that I realize that I am dead

My body is draped in a long black dress
My skin is absolutely colourless
It's a frightening feeling I must confess
I can hear the priest saying a few kind words
And in the background the beautiful harmony of birds
Sniffles and sobs reach my ears
I guess I didn't make it to my golden years
My eyes survey the group gathered round
A tear in the eye of each could be found
It is then that I see my only boy
And my love for him shines with so much joy
Suddenly a sadness fills me where once I was glad
As I realize I will never again kiss that sweet lad

He's saying goodbye
And I must too
I just don't know if I have the strength to do
A soft voice calls to me from above
"Come home my child", it says with love
"Come home and be free, Come and live with me"
I yearn to drift into that heavenly grace
But I can't bear the look on my child's lonely face
I drift just a little above
And turn to look back with sadness and love

Be good my son, be happy and carefree
Don't cry or remain sad, think of me and be glad
I will be waiting for you at heaven's gate
There I will sit and patiently wait
And when your work here is done
I will welcome you home
Then you and I will never be alone
I know that he can't hear the words in my head
For I know I am really and truly dead
A gentle hand touches my arm
I know that it is time to go
And so I walk toward the heavenly glow
Leaving no footprints in the brand new snow

Premium Member My Silent Sanctuary

Fully encompassed in luxuriously thickness of forest foliage,
The dog and I sat down to rest. Me on a felled log,
                                             him,
                                    near a creek’s edge.

Shiny leaves fluttered a silent greeting,
welcoming us, as if she had not seen
                                    such beings in
A long time, maybe hundreds of years.

I marvel at the vast mysteriousness of the woods,
she has kept her secrets through a multitude of sun downs,
                                       and likely
                               will not give them up.

The enormous spider webs I walked through to get here
                               instantly feel worth it,
Even if my skin is crawling a bit
as I imagine some of the wee creatures in my hair.

My heart leaps with pure joy as I bend
to select a few pretty rocks from the creek’s edge.
                  Wading in a bit farther,
marveling at the clear coolness of the water.
Is it drinkable? Yes, it is.

Has anyone else ever ventured this deeply into this silent sanctuary?
                                      I hear a slight noise.
                                A twig breaking.
                                    The dog barks.
Nothing else moves or makes a sound.

This has become my private sanctuary,
a place where my heart can rejuvenate and relive
                      These silences on busy days
                          when nothing else feels silent.

Autumn's Crown

Fallen leaves upon the ground,
Luxuriously spread and interwound.
Producing a carpet of bedecked Autumn Leaves,
Displaying an image you can't believe.

Rose Dust, Corn Silk, Ruby Red and Dark Green,
Not forgetting Almond Brown, Orange that paint this scene,
This array of colors found in New England towns,
Come together and become Autumn's Crown.

Premium Member Knowing I Am Killing Myself

I sit and I sit and I sit again,
Wondering why my neck hurts
And my body is losing her elasticity.
Eating brownies for fuel, knowing I am killing myself
Softly, and in a luxuriously relaxing way.

The brownies are gone, but I am not satisfied,
So I reach for the potato chips.
They are salty and crunchy
And help me swallow the
Sweet of the brownies.

I am in one of those hey, let’s not
Do-anything-today-days.
I would go to the store and
Get more chips, but I am
Out of steam,
Sitting
Just
Sitting

Hurting
No one
But
Me

Premium Member Decayed

As I stand before this old, dilapidated house,
A structure fast decaying and about to crumble,
With its walls painted grey and white,
And the plaster bearing cracks and marks,
Memories leap out,
From the moss-grown crevices of my mind,
Like snakes uncoiling, rather like bees swarming,
Fragmented, scented, and sour!

I remember my old maternal uncle,
Who had turned a widower at forty-one,
The presiding deity of a joint family of sixteen.
Most of the time he sprawled in the armchair,
In the enclosed patio of this big house.

In the living room was an old grandfather clock
Ticking away like the faint heartbeat
Of that decadent house with crumbling plaster
He had seen heydays with many ceremonies of great fanfare,
When the house used to board all kith and kin,
And the granary was full of paddy and tons of black gold

But as time slowly weakened his torso
The house too lost its onetime splendor.
His children got scattered far and wide.
They went to hoard fortunes abroad.
But grand uncle refused to move away.
One day he left the house orphaning it for ever.
Now the house is sadly left to total decay.
Its life gone, its soul frozen,
A fragment of an old memory.

Though once I thought I had escaped,
The compulsions of the past
Now I discern, I am still pinioned by it!
As I stand before this house, my ears perk up,
For the lovely sounds this house once produced
And pine for the love
That once so luxuriously bloomed around!

Premium Member Where To Start

A seriously sad seventh son of a soldier entered prime prejudicial puberty
With love and luxuriously liberal thoughts in his hyper hallucinating heart
He was set on dating a diabolically darling daughter of a serious celebrity
So should he go to Hollywood? Hail a bus? Hire a taxi? Where to start?
Where to start? Where to start?

April Showers Bring May Flowers- For Anacreontic Verse 3

Anacreontic Verse 3

Cool crystal raindrops
scrolled down the palm leaves
swishing and drooling
over sloping eaves
The scarlet lilies
reddening their cheeks
bugled open to
the bees tranquilly
snoring in their hives
under painted roofs
Last eve I sat in
the shady arbour
luxuriously
enjoying the rain
playing salsa with
these blooming girls in
crimson skirts in a
signature scented
floral studio
painting hues of red

Arranging On My Canvas, Colors Inhabited

-
The window opens on our secret travels

Mist of saline uproar raids on the space

What keeps us awake and makes us sagacious

Under this afternoon luxuriously blended,

The addition and ebb, mineral materials

To leave the sea , invade us of yesterday:

The small square of ocher resists , without thoughts

But in colors, only expended

Without words, without wetness intruse of summer lands

Evasive shade of olive trees, in this unique moment,

Witnesses of thousand years, of Italy close to Sicily

A look, put in mythological world, and islands …

Still yet, under the wind jerks

Witness of our way, and our instant

Without risking me to invite eternity

Arranging on my canvas, colors inhabited ….

A Bombshell

Lacy black shell
Ever so fine
Asymmetrically designed
For a love of mine.

Fingertips touched
Ever softly.
Asked whom this was for
Tell not my heart.
Her name I cannot reveal.
Eve of the year
Reunites us.

She rejoices now.
Her sadness subsided.
Evicted from her sylph
Enriched her temperament,
Lust love laid-up luxuriously.

Let Them Eat Cake

She was a high born whore,
who lived luxuriously
Didn't have one ounce of compassion for the poor

She licked the seethed bones
with a viper's tongue
Guillotine parlor games fed her bloodlust for doing wrong

Marie Antoinette
was as stone cold-hearted
as they get
When told there was a famine in the land,
and the people had no bread to make
She boorishly replied: Well, let them eat cake

Life under her evil reign was pure living hell,
thus the people rose up and violently rebelled
So she suffered a most indelicate fate,
got her head lopped off ...
sweet justice served on a pie plate
