Premium Member Christmas in Paradise

One year,  over the ocean, Santa veered  off course
His reindeer were battling a hurricane  force.
As the sleigh went  spinning and spiraling around,
an  island appeared far below on the ground,
dotted with palms on  a white sandy beach.
Santa took heart that land was in reach.
Through starlight’s glow and the light of the moon
Santa touched down — not a moment too soon.

A lavish Luau  on Lahaula mats was laid,
a sumptuous feast over which a Kahuna prayed
with fish on ti leaves, tropical fruits, and eggs-fu-yung
colorful flower leis were draped after being strung
Pearly shells glimmered on every waving palm
Ukuleles were strumming to songs sweet and calm
while dancers swayed ami with soft hula hands.
Santa had landed in a paradise found.

His beard was snow white, his boots shiny black
and he wore a red suit with a red  elfin hat.
“I’m Father Christmas,” and - I’m surprised too
that we celebrate  in much the same way as you
with peace and goodwill, and with eating and singing.

‘Mele Kalikimaka,’ is our song of greeting
As we celebrate Christmas— in island style.

On they kept strumming, and singing and drumming.
while Santa felt tempted to stay and join in.
But time was short as Christmas morning grew near.
He had sworn a duty to all he held dear.

He saw a bright star rising up in the East
The time had come - he must leave from this feast
So he readied his reindeer to take to  the stars
This was the latest —  he’d  ever been — by far
to bring toys to children all over the world
curled up in bed in their little dreamworlds.

“Come Dasher, Come  Dancer, Come Prancer and Vixen.
Come Comet, Come Cupid, Come Donner and Blitzen.”

We’ll find our way here some other midnight
“Mele Kalikimaka  to ALL -  and to ALL a Good Night.”

Sugar Shack

My love, please take me back
To your sweet sugar shack
Sitting on the soft sand beach
Paradise is within reach

Rolling waves crest, so dreamy
Briny air, wafting steamy
Coconuts so full and ripe
Swaying grass skirt, my delight

Taut humid air, tan skin
Dewy lips meet, it begins
Swim southward along the coast
To the sweet realm of my host

Searching in the dark bamboo
For the mythic pink Honu
The enchantress of the sea
My soft kisses set her free

Forest of the straight smile
The fair treasures of this isle
Warm to my tropical steam
Her smiling shell does gleam

Inside her magic seas, you
Swim deeper as I please you
Within your endless ocean
Drowning, fragrant emotion

As the gentle cries go higher
Holy water turns to fire
Passion’s fruit upon your brow
My Pele, it’s our Luau

Your Tsunami drowns the flame
My rogue wave crashes the same
The relentless sea rolls back
Joy resounding in the shack

Honu=Green Sea Turtle
Pele=Hawaiian Goddess of Fire/Lava

A Love Story

A lane alone
A look alike
A lift aloft
A love alive
A luau aloha
A load allied
A laugh aloof
A lode allude
A lore allure
A loan align
A lodge allege
A lobo alibi
A law allow
A loss alas
A lane alone

It's Christmas in Hawaii tomorrow
And the blue skies be bright with a rainbow
Santa gets in a grass skirt
And a red Aloha shirt
He makes his way from each home's patio

He'll island hop a surfboard and skateboard
And path his gifts free of all disaccord
Perhaps stop at a luau
And devour some native chow
Santa's Hawaii trip was a reward

When Santa returned home to the North Pole
His starved reindeer met him with a drum roll
To each of his dears a dish
... Hawaiian poi and fish
His trip sans charcoal and snow leis role

Horror In Hawaii

Wrote this for Carolyn's Vacation Humor contest, but I went a little overboard
with the amount of lines.

It was such a big elation
Finally getting my vacation
Two weeks off with lots of plans
That were supposed to be be so grand
A second honeymoon to take
A welcome and inviting break
Memories to fill our hearts
Happiness right from the start
Turning into fun and laughter
We could carry ever after
Swimming in waters so blue
Hawaiian Island grand and true
Leis placed gently on your neck
Being greeted with respect
A pig luau smelling good
Like a yummy supper should
As your lying in the sand
Fruity drinks place in your hand
A perfect dream this should be
Instead nightmare reality
Faces us up ahead
A horror and awful dread
No blue waters for our swimming
Just a pool that needs some skimming
No Hawaii in our sights
Just a scary place at night
No pretty leis or hello greeting
Just frightful people we are meeting
Our pig luau turned into crud
Our meals all tasted like mud
No sand or delicious drinks
Hard floors and water from the sink
Our vacation turned from memories
And pictures for our friends to see
To a hell that always burns
When a drunk pilot took a turn
Landing us so far off course
It couldn't get any worse
Stepping off the plane and crying
We were brought to Rikers Island

Hawaii-My Favorite Destination

Palm trees in the pineapple breeze,
c a l m chameleon ocean up to my knees-
Beach sands with pebbles in my hands,
oh, to not return to the Michigan's freeze.

HAWAII ways as the mountain sprays,
wearing pink lays as the sun f a d e s-
I miss that warm sun and surfing fun,
jewelry stands with hues of turquoise and jade.

Honeymoon vacation, my favorite destination,
what a b e a u t i f u l creation God has made-
A trip across the Pacific, KAWAII to be specific,
with corner markets to buy, sell and trade.

Mai Tai in my hand while on this beautiful land,
you have to see this island of g r a c e-
You’d understand with your feet in the sand,
within my husband’s warm e m b r a c e.

Got some good rest, completely impressed
with the luau that hot Saturday night-
now I digress and I must sincerely confess,
HAWAII is the most b e a u t i f u l sight.

I wish to go return with hard money earned,
but I’ll leave it as my f a v o r i t e vacation-
I have seen HAWAII'S beauty and gradually learned,
some memories should be a one-time celebration.

Premium Member A Vacation

My muse went on vacation, to the tropics it did go.
I wish I could go with it, but my boss told me no.
I’m afraid it won’t come back; I wouldn’t if I were it.
And my writings are getting pretty sketchy…
I need help you know, real quick!
So to solve the problem I sent the trolls, from the basement they did go.
My basements kind of empty now, with only dust left on the floor.
And my Hubby’s kind of mad that I sent his friends to travel on…
It seems the trolls were HIS muses, for all the topics so dead-on.
Now instead of things getting better, my Hubby’s not talking, at all, to me.
If they don’t come back soon, I know there’ll be heck to pay, you see.
I think that with boredom setting in… maybe my Hubby’s about to explode.
What I thought would help… just might have been: a boo boo, you know.
But low and behold, I got a post card and my muse will SOON be coming home.
He has stories out the ying yang… like how the trolls invaded the last luau.
Everyone mistook them for local demons and scattered everywhere, some how.
And one is engaged to a volcano demon and can’t wait to bring her home, now.
He thinks the Missouri flatlands could use a tourist boost, with more allure.
And a steaming Mt. St. Missouri would be just the thing, for sure.
Thank you God!!! They’re coming home… is all that I can say!!!
Unfortunately my neighbors might not see it, clearly, the same way.
Though I am a LITTLE worried, that as the volcano demon settles in…
They might just take it upon themselves: to run me out of town!!! Again!!!
Though I might not blame them, just a little bit…
Still, I can’t wait to get back to work… I truly must admit!!!

Luau Memories

Frozen flower punch
Hibiscus blossoms for your ears
Luau skirts and fire rings
Streamers hanging in the air
Cocktails soaked in pineapples
Roasting pit to coals
Anklets jangling on your feet
Ambrosia mint in bowls
Smiles to pass with every song
Laughter jewels the moon
Eating the afternoon away
with a Polynesian spoon~

Our Honeymoon In Hawaii

We saved up all our money and finally said, “I do”, looking forward to our marital bliss and honeymoon in Hawaii. I wondered what it would be like to walk hand and hand along the shore with my new husband. We would be on an island oasis sleeping in a tiny hut with palm trees floating above us like drifting clouds. We arrived and all we could see was blue waters and sandy beaches. We knew we would have the trip of a lifetime from the moment we stepped off the plane. Lays were gently placed around our necks and I could smell the florals of hibiscus plants. Nothing could stop our love from blooming into moments of romance and joy.

perfect honeymoon
Hawaii destination-
island oasis

The first day we shared passion along pebbled beach. Alone in our own haven sleeping under the clear twilit stars. True love was ahead of us and we knew the life we had started would become our greatest gift indeed. How could God create such a beautiful sanctuary on earth? The second day we swam with the dolphins along Waikiki shores. My dolphin’s name was Jenny and man, was she gorgeous! She had the most beautiful hazel eyes and longest tipped nose. She blew water through her hole and it splashed in my face. I felt refreshed and calm at the same time.

passion on the shore
God’s beautiful creation-
Waikiki heaven

The next few days we went to a luau and drank Mai-tais with another couple we met on their honeymoon also. We laughed so hard we cried and enjoyed each other’s company. We ate meals under the moon as the clear night sky shined above us. We went out on a yacht and went scuba diving for fun. I enjoyed it much better than I ever thought I would. The angel fish swept up against my legs and I took pictures with a waterproof camera of the rainbow-colored coral. When we were about to leave a sadness flowed over me. I didn’t want to leave such a stunning location where we shared our once and a lifetime trip. Our honeymoon was perfect and I can only hope one day we can travel back to Hawaii and enjoy that romance we shared back in 2002. God bless our vacation and God bless our love.

so much laughter shared
Angelfish and coral hope-
trip of a lifetime

Dream Vacation

Crystal blue waters caressing the sands
Family together under the warm sun
Hula and luau under the blue sky
Perfect relaxation on an island paradise
No worries of bills, no rush to get home
Just sea, sun, and fun all summer long.
