Kalua Pig Luau

Hawaiian salt massaged pork 
drawn from an "imu"--
a hot rocks pit ere covered.
Succulent pulled-pork
tenderly yielding
juice-dribbling
bliss.

William, congratulations on your win! Just had to go get a napkin to stop the drool! When I visited Hawaii, years ago, I remember this succulent treat. Nothing like meat roasted in the "imu" pit. Nothing like it! So glad to see this on the winners list! William, the story of your family home is so sad yet you still honor your family by caring for their places of rest. Ho'onani! Thanks, Sam. Besides looking out after them, writing's the best therapy for me, which suits me just fine, though it burns the midnight oil sometimes. It's an Indian Summer here, and my young-blooded neighbors finding it unbearable, but my lemonade declined in place of beer--not good for heat exhaustion, guys? I am told that is where my mother was born, but I know very little about her. She never spoke of home. The name has a beautiful meaning but I was not sure of it was the same for you. I am glad to meet you William :)

It's to, "twine or braid." I mostly grew up in Kalapana, a country seaside village, and a quarter of my inheritance was covered by lava in 1990, including the house I grew up in till we moved to the states. I'm the last of my family and caretaker of their graves on the hill above the town, which inspired my return. Getting flowers for mom's birthday tomorrow. Blessings and Aloha~William

Mmmm Hilo it sounds amazing! My mother is Hawaiian, but we have never been to the islands. Hopefully I will meet my family before none are left. Would you mind telling me the meaning of your name?

Mahalo, FJ, I'm genuinely pleased to meet you. Hilo is the town of my birth. I've returned to live here on the island of Hawaii where volcanoes are now silent tho' actively fuming. Here's to a pleasant visit soon my friend, Aloha~William
