Best Hit The Spot Poems

Premium Member Morris the Thesaurus Tortoise

Ocie the Ocelot liked words a lot!
As a tot, words like dot and trot hit the spot
Then, getting older, the folder on her shoulder grew bolder
What was once handy stopped ringing so dandy
Craving vocabulary candy to bandy
She sought what she ought, to form lukewarm to hot

Mooshu, the emu guru, knew what to do
To bring notice and gain focus
Journey there, to the oracle's lair
The fortress of Morris the Thesaurus Tortoise

When she approached his door, saying, "I want more!"
His smile creased - he replied, "Your covet's increased!"

She confessed her distress at being a pest
But he said, "My dear, you're not stubborn - you're tenacious!
You're not merely aware - you're perspicacious!"

It's not only knowledge; it's proficiency, cognition, discernment
For ideas, impressions, concepts, brainstorming segments
Be bold, audacious, intrepid, resolute, gallant
Credit your capacity, flair, savvy, talent
Evade the cliche, the commonplace, the trite
Clamp on, lacerate, masticate, bite!

Hours freed, for her need to succeed
Then, at the end, one final creed to heed-
Don't fall a slave to the misbehaving knave
Sometimes, the simpler speech is the one to save.

Poem of the Day 3/06/19

Sweet-Er Sensation

Underneath, you above,
Hold me close,like a glove,
You whisper my name,"yes love",
Meant to be,white doves....

You lean forward, I lean back,
You pull my jeans,I lift your top,
You bite your lips,I hit the spot,
We tremble like leaves, and then collapse...

In the auction of love my heart is the star lot
The gavel will go down as Cupid’s arrow hit the spot

I fall on bended knee and offer you a diamond ring
Please accept it my beautiful Queen, and I’ll be your King

Premium Member The Hearth and the Black Coal Boots

Ho! Ho! Ho! It's sure a tight squeeze.
I was able to go down the chimney with ease
and miss the bed of coals.
Mrs. Santa is right; I have to start the New Year with new goals.

Everyone must have just gone to bed because the cocoa is still hot.
Chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa will really hit the spot.

Oh, yes sir can't hurt their feelings. I'll sit, and take of my boots and rest
by the stone hearth from the cold burr and hang loose before I head west.

A mouse came scavenging for a bite of the chocolate chip cookie,
took one look at me and climbed on my lap snuggling in beside me.

Before, the snow starts to stir and reindeer decide to leave me behind;
I'll leave their Christmas gifts under the tree since they were so kind.
Slip on my leather black coal boots trimmed in faux fur,
back on my sleigh full of gifts for the kids before I forget how many there were.

Premium Member Deep Inclinations

I’ve got those baby I want you things on my mind
Those ooh baby, pleasured bodies intertwined
She knows all the right places and my pump’s primed
exploration ecstasy, wondering what I will find
nasty deeds, my mom said would make me go blind
Up down backwards, slippery slide inclined
Cataclysmic dual explosions as we grind

Lick lips eclipse finding the place that drips
She hold the covers and bites her lips
I control her vibrating gyrating hips
“Oh don’t stop!” as deep inside my tongue slips
I don’t need no cuffs or whips
I make her so happy she does back flips
She’s drug free and still her mind trips

Faster, slower, what she wants she doesn’t know
She loves how I make her tingle from head to toe
Flush skin, that delicious heated she needs me glow
I’m Double Dutch flicking, she’s rocking to and fro
I wind her tight and right like a well strung bow
Pull back release, hit the spot gently blow
Precision accuracy I find the perfect place to go

She pushes me pulls me, rips at my hair
I could be bald but I don’t care
She pulls me up so she can grab me there
Minutes hours she answers every prayer
Where I begin and she ends I am unaware
Release vibrations the ultimate share
as into each other’s eyes we stare!

Premium Member Savor The Flavor

A poetic community has many ingredients
Tablespoons of metaphors with Alliteration spice
A dash of Haiku makes things nice
Pour in some sonnets into a bowl
Mix in romance to make it whole

Add a sprig of thyme to the rhyme
Sprinkle in some free verse to make it sublime
Stir in some Limericks into the pot
A cup of Triolets will hit the spot

Savor the flavor as you sample the soup
As Personifications waft through the air
Prepare a Pantoum and add to the group
Add a cup of imagery to give it some flair

Chocolate

I ate a piece of chocolate;
It was dark and hit the spot,
So I savored it quite slowly
And enjoyed it quite a lot.

There are some who splurge in secret,
Sneaking sweets in utter stealth,
But I eat my chocolate proudly
‘Cause it’s helpful to my health!

Flat Tire

In my urban habitat,
On a bridge’s ramp,
Heard a noise like rat-a-tat,
Giving me a cramp.

Taxi driver passed my way,
Pointing to my wheel;
Couldn’t hear, with traffic’s fray,
What miles would soon reveal.

Soon I felt familiar thumps –
Oh no! My tire is flat!
Riding over highway bumps
Tempts rubber to go splat.

Slowly rolled to a garage
Where they made a switch.
Gratitude in me loomed large,
But isn’t life a *****?

Just in case we think it’s not,
There’s plenty to remind us
That even days that hit the spot
Hide havoc, which will find us.

Could have been a whole lot worse
If fate did so conspire;
Still, my day became adverse
When I blew out my tire.

A Personal Day

Ever have one of those days
where you just have to get away
from the daily work grind...
where you can just kick back,
relax a little,
and finally unwind,
tomorrow is that day for me
because I took a personal day,
where I'm going to sleep in till noon,
wake up and shower and dress
and watch a little television
if I'm in the mood,
then eat a leisurely lunch
with a lot of crunch,
and savor every bite,
afterwards have a nice dessert,
like some sherbet,
that'll really hit the spot,
then drive to my appt. in town
and get massaged by a masseuse,
go get a manicure and a pedicure,
shop for a new dress,
and go get my hair done by my hair stylist,
later at home check my e-mail
and see whats on the soup,
laugh at some of the funny poems
because they can be so humorous,
read some of the serious ones,
and feel the corners of my mouth suddenly droop,
then after that I'll maybe take a walk
and stroll around the park,
but by then it'll probably be getting late
and the dusk will be turning to dark,
so I'll go home to my family,
and I'll say good night
and go retire for the night,
where I'll go into my sanctuary,
change into my pajamas,
watch some t.v.
and turn off the light,
but I know most if this is just a fantasy,
but it really doesn't matter
since I'm not really into all that glamour
why I'm just your average Josephine,
like a lot of folks just trying to stay afloat
by making ends meet,
Because when I look around
there's 1001 chores to be done,
especially the housework,
where I'll be washing dishes,
feeding the cats, dogs and fishes,
cleaning windowsills,
dusting and vacuuming,
mopping floors,
wiping down doors,
doing the laundry,
and shredding some old bills,
But hey, I'd rather get these mundane
chores out of the way on a Friday,
so then on the weekend
I can do what I want
and go out and have a fun day!

Costa Rica Tour

Costa Rica Tour

Sit right back and I’ll tell you all
About our recent trip
Somewhere in Costa Rica
We left our cruise line ship
The bus ride – uneventful
Out through the country side
The vistas were fantastic
 Then came the bumpy ride
The bus jerked to the left side
Then right back to the right
Those seated at the windows
Received a dreadful sight
On the left side was a rock wall
The other naught but air
And with each bump the bus took
We feared we’d end up there
The road up through the forest
Was narrow and was steep
With hair-pin turns and pot holes
And ruts that ran feet deep
We left the bus and took a walk
Through forest’s canopy
A Toucan, a king Vulture
Were two birds we did see
Then over in the distance
Up there among the trees
Suspension bridges crossed a gorge
And there were three of these
At first some folks were nervous
The tension you could feel
Then one by one we crept across
These swinging trails of steel
Then half way through the first one
We ran into some bees
They stung us in our elbows
They stung us in our knees
With flailing arms and legs we fought
The bridge began to swing
Somehow we made it over
Despite the swing and sting
The next bridge was a swinger
Much more so then the first
And once across that swing bridge
We hoped it was the worst
But number three was high and long
And appeared need of repair
It bounced, it swung, it creaked and moaned
So high up in the air
And once across, we turned around
And crossed that bridge again
Back to the buss after that walk
We gladly climbed back in
And then it rained, and rained some more
Then the heavens opened wide
Down muddy roads in pouring rain
The bus and we did slide
We stopped then in a garden
Our noon time meal we had
That native food sure hit the spot
And wasn’t all that bad
With rice and beans and chicken broiled
And ever so much more
Out on a porch, out of the rain
It warmed us to the core
And when the rain let up a bit
The garden we explored
The fan palms and the waterfall
Were simply just adored
All that was left, the bus ride back
To board our cruise line ship
And that concludes the story of
Our Costa Rica trip

Baking

I'd rather be inside doing the baking
Than the one being baked outside in the sun.

I never learned how to barbecue,
As my Dad ran away when I was only two.
Though my Mum taught me how to shoot for the pot,
Which really hit the spot,
As I could do that without seeing a single sun spot.

My Possum is really quite delicious,
Even if slightly malicious.
I have a habit of making a stew out of rabbit.
Visitors are big on anything made from pig.
It would be a mistake to miss my venison steak,
Or duck out without some roast duck.
My ham and eggs are never green, though quite lean.
Mushroom soup with homemade bread will keep you fed
Til the rest of the food is prepared
You can grub for hu hu grubs for me to roast on sticks.
My roast parsnip contains no arsenic.
I don't have to tout for my trout.
Or make a deal for a pie made of eel.

You can make a toast while I tend to the roast.
Or if you prefer give the gravy a stir.
I won't get cross if you give the salad a toss.
Or set the table if you are able.
We can talk while you find me a fork.
Afterwards I will let you judge my fudge.
If you can still budge.
And I will find some liquor that is still pure.

My apple pie with cream piled high is really worth a try.
Pears with homemade wine are quite divine.
I have an art for the apricot tart.
And you won't get over my Pavlova.

I bake my cakes with fresh eggs which seems to please the hens.
Our honey is worth the money
And our jams are in favour for their flavour.
I produce a cheese that aims to please.
My biscuits soon stray from the tray.

If you want any thing more fancy we can look in the pantry.

With skin cancer on the rise, I think I am wise
In getting up early to watch my bread rise.
Though I am still game to go outside with my gun by my side.
But when the sun starts to hurt the eye,
My oven goes back on high for when you come by.
If you stay the night you can dance under moonlight
And wish upon a star from afar outside of a car.

Wouldn't that be more fun than going out in the mid-day sun.
With your true face scared to be exposed.

The Pill of Life

If there was a pill that I could take today
This pill could hit the spot without delay
And this pill was the same shape as your loving heart
It will cure all my ills and my pains for a start

It can make a path down to my weary soul
And it can build me up and make me feel whole
If this pill is your love and you send it to me
Then I will swallow it quickly and just wait and see

This pill must come with a strong warning too
Will you take my heart shaped pill I sent to you
This heart as a pill will work for the one and only
Cures all the ills and stops one being lonely

If affected don’t drive or use heavy machines
Give to the one you love, and start living your dreams

Premium Member Cornbread 'N Beans

Growin' up on the Hoosier farm, Mom fixed very simple chuck.
(We'd never heard of pate de fois gras or crispy Peking duck!)
But never mind such sophisticated and fanciful cuisines.
I'd much prefer a steamin' bowl of Mom's cornbread 'n beans!

Ah! The aroma waftin' thro' the house, beans boilin' in the pot!
After a weary day of shuckin' corn, they'd surely hit the spot!
Now along with that, of course, you'd need some turnip greens,
And slabs of homemade butter to flavor the cornbread 'n beans!

Bubbly champagne or splendid wines never graced our board.
(Mom thought such things wicked, an abomination unto the Lord!)
She brewed iced tea, tho', to fill our mason jar canteens,
To wash down that delectable meal of cornbread 'n beans!

Now after such a splendid repast you must have dessert.
Cherry pie and homemade ice cream certainly wouldn't hurt!
I've enjoyed fancy fare at the Ritz and other elegant scenes,
But nothin' will ever compare to dinin' on cornbread 'n beans!

I've sampled fancy eats in London, Casablanca and Rome,
But I really prefer the simple fare that my Mom fixed at home!
I don't mean to disparage a great chef's cuisine by any means,
But my simple tastes are sated with savory cornbread 'n beans!

Johnny Mercer

I wonder if Johnny Mercer
Was a prolific rehearser
He'd hit the spot
In his songs - a lot
But when drunk he was a curser
