Premium Member Climate Change Is No Joke

Our problems all began with the industrial revolution
And its legacy has left us with toxic pollution.

Climate change is real and been declared a code red
And if we chose to ignore it, we'll all end up dead.

It's not a new problem, they've been saying it for years
Driven by greed and profit now there will be tears.

Ice caps are melting, I'm sure you already know
And soon the polar bears will have nowhere to go.

Sea and river levels are a worry as they continue to rise
Houses and cars swept away before our very eyes.

Wildfires are quite common now the air is so dry
Many people lose their homes, sadly many of them die.

Not forgetting wildlife, they too perish in the flames
Insurance firms kept busy with thousands of claims.

Our vast oceans too have become a dumping ground
With oil slicks and plastics, just some of the things found.

We burn fossil fuels that release carbon to keep us warm
Now we must find an alternative that wont cause us harm.

Pesticides sprayed on crops with no thought for the bees
Forests cut down ruthlessly, soon there will be no trees.

Action is needed now, they know what's needed to be done
Because when it gets worse there will be nowhere to run.

In the distant future an apocalyptic waste land will be
And all because of mankinds greed and his own stupidity.

Every country must play its part, not just one or two
And every individual on earth that's me and you.

Dinosaurs roamed earth and disappeared mysteriously
And here we all are creating our own catastrophe.

And the many idiots out there who think it's a big joke
They won't find it so funny when they're choking on smoke.

Premium Member Precious Friendship

Lovingly Dedicated to My Closest Friend, My Mother
My loving friend can caress cares away.
With simple gestures meant to pleasure sway,
She turns my smile upright and firms its stay.
Such kindness meets my same, I do oft pray.

As balm she soothes incurred hurt, ache and pain.
Together, life’s rude battles lose their strain
As handled by our combined wit and brain.
I hope her loving light will never wane.

She matters so much to my fragile heart
That I view her as my dear counterpart.
We sometimes separate, but never part.
I love her laughter, value her brain-smart.

We grow and change like season’s nature hues.
With candor we explore life’s many clues,
And, God knows, we both paid quite hefty dues.
As precious gift, our friendship joys accrue.

What she may need, I pray to aptly grant.
What dims her joy, I strive to best supplant.
What hurts her feelings, I seek to decant.
What her heart wants, becomes my own heart’s chant.

A tale of meraki

Overcome by the burden she sat teary eyed
Holding closely her two little boys by her side
Immersed in sorrow they had endlessly cried
After her loving husband had suddenly died.

Soaring from her seat elated with newfound joy,
Making herself a promise with an assured ploy,
She picked up her two boys holding them high
Shedding ambivalence boldly with assertive sigh.

Dedicating bravely to parenting with rigor,
Fighting ingress of despair with almighty vigor,
She crushed hindrances powered by love alone,
Aiming meraki resolutely to reach her throne.

As the boys grew older she faced new struggle
With eagle-eyes she kept them out of trouble,
Enamored in plans for sending them to college,
Guiding them to yearn for power of knowledge.

Not retreating when incurable illness struck,
Refusing to surrender to randomness of luck,
Amid doctor's visits she kept working at her job
As if nothing sublunary would cause her to stop.

Her kids grew up to be intelligent young men
Finding success in college with power of pen,
Earning scholarships for duration of all terms,
Getting job offers from many reputable firms.

Having reached destination of her ardent trip
She embraced her kids with a joyous firm grip,
Longing to hold fervently till they reach their prime,
Knowing well she'll be dead in a very short time.

Cryptic language with words that hide;
Secret message in ancient tides;
Mine the passage in mystic ride.

Linger a while on textures tough;
Thought waves that style beyond the rough;
An inner guile with pregnant stuff.

Heart within mind in pulse and urge;
Address ***** finds in sag and surge;
Go beyond kind in swirl and purge.

To find the core where meaning fills,
Discern some more the vital till;
Let knowing soar in precise will.

Address the space where time holds gist;
Accept the pace of rhymes that list;
Align the trace in hidden mist.

Knowing within the sacred code,
Beyond mere whim a wondrous mode;
Here yet unseen a pathway node.

Feeling the way within these grounds,
A tensile stay that firms around;
Pry cryptic sway with motive found.

Peel layers here that hold meaning;
Read beyond fear the deeper fling;
Ponder sense clear as answers sing.

Deep within see the hidden span:
Veiled legacy in sure attend;
Code that sets free an ancient blend.

Trace clues that spur your quest to know;
Go beyond blur to sublime show;
Let swirls unfurl the course of flow.

Thought hides cryptic in symbols deep;
Know dear mystic realms that now sleep;
Feel the magic as foliage creep.

as builders spend pennies

lifestyle gurus
show us how to fold trousers

and chefs under pressure
scream out all their orders
while people in need
are labelled as hoarders

for the afternoon races
as judges cast judgements
on bizarre family cases

and teams answer questions
to win mystery prizes
while traffic cops chase

and retirees escape
to a life on the Costas
as law firms inform us
it’s good to sue doctors

and super vets cure
lame dogs and sick horses
as folk with backstories
fail SAS courses

and dealers earn livings
from ducking and diving
while medics with agents
get judged Strictly jiving

explaining their charges
while celebs enjoy cruising

on the numerous news’ panels
it’s proof that what bites

Break a Leg

>It is a well-known fact in the theatre world. Telling someone to break a leg before they go on stage is considered good luck. I certainly do not think it should be. It’s funny how you never appreciate how people suffer with an injury or ailment unless you experience it yourself, am I right or not?

Break a leg! Lucky or not?

Another night, I have of no sleep.
Comfort, I just cannot seek.
If only my leg did not pain me so.
I am sure to sleep, my brain cell would go.

Why is it when you hurt somewhere?
The pain always registers elsewhere!
I mean. Break a bone in your leg, you see.
No weight can it bear agree?

Then in your head, more pain flows
Why? When that’s not hurt you know!

It is not really blinking fair.
If leg is bad, pain should stay there.
Not wander up to my brain cell.
No wonder I don’t feel blinking well.

Two places now on blinking fire.
I might as well, now to bed retire.
But if I do, will I be able to sleep?
As all over my body, my pain does creep
And bless, no, I cannot blinking sleep.

I wrote this poem, ten days ago.
When I did feel a little bit low.
Still, my pen’s ink did flow.
And this is what it wrote you know.

Now I wear a Moon Boot, it’s true.
It firms my leg, I’m telling you.
And I can walk with crutches two.
As that’s what I was told to do.

Another five weeks to go.
Then I might shed this Moon Boot you know .
But then, will I from Earth flow.
As Moon Boots are quite heavy, you know.

And that’s the lot from me today.
As this is all I want to say.
About that medical Moon Boot.
Supporting my broken foot today.<

Light ribbons in one eye we fear
Precede headache pain that's severe
Drug firms clearly bribe
Physicians to prescribe
Migraine meds but I'll imbibe beer

Authors Note: If you are in a safe place (not driving or operating machinery), this home remedy could be better than what the doctor ordered. I keep a few medicinal bottles ready in the fridge for just such an emergency. Lime is optional.

The clinical trial: An authentic "migraine" headache is accompanied by blood vessel constriction. There can be 15 to 30 minutes of shimmering lights in one eye followed by a headache from hell. Having learned that alcohol dilates blood vessels, one day I tried chugging a beer just after the shimmering started. The lights subsided and there was no headache. Beer just may be the second best medicine ever created.

Ramblings of a Graveyard Shift Worker....

I used to complain about having to work at night on weekends.
Everyone was having fun but li'l ol' me.
Some years back I had an epiphany on the matter.
Suddenly, I had time to cash my check AND pay my bills!
Then, I might possibly catch a movie, which has plenty of seating on Monday nights!
But my favorite part is: The People Zoo.
I started visualizing folks in their cubicles and at their counters as exhibits.
You find mostly monkeys in cubicles working for some government agency.
The sharks you'll find in the car lots and on showroom floors.
The insects buzzing and dutifully mimicking their peers are found at schools.
The buzzards and carrion feeders can be found at law firms and in courtrooms.
The bulls and bears can be found scrapping it out on Wall street,
While the elephants and donkeys exchange insults on the TV monitors.
The pigs are found cruising the streets making sure the rats and snakes don't take over.
The blood-sucking Vampire bats can be found working for insurance companies.

BUT.......

Just a warning: Most of these exhibits offer you no protection from the brutality of nature!
There are no tour guides and no guarantees of safety or fun.....
And, one more thing: They will eventually come to see you in YOUR exhibit!

Simple works best to suit each face,
Thrill fond delight in easy steps;
Embark fine quest as ideas pace,
Value greets sight where good feel maps;
Enthuse the crowd with measured talk.
Jumpstart the need for great design,
Observe the proud as gains brave walk;
Boom firms the speed finesse aligns,
Set a sure pace for form and feel.
Apply the art of keen insight,
Poise charms the trace of tact and will,
Proof with sure heart the craft most bright;
Love frames meaning in gadgets sound,
Employ grand things where use astounds.

Abide with me dear saving grace,
Mark a clear will that sparks pure light;
Urge joy to free true placid face,
Sense cheer now thrill fine wit said right;
Ink words that come to stay the course,
Niche pleasant poise that nurtures tact;
Gift voice that sums that visual cause.
Move active voice in profound fact,
Use blossoms well where humour peaks;
Sculpt sensuous script to frame calm tense,
Intuit grand spell where heart firms speak;
Note how thought grips the moving sense,
Give all to heart as mind agrees,
Soar then sure art with pulse set free.

Troy and sure war, Trojans and Greeks;
Report mad flaws -- rouse warriors' peak;
On for ten years, on both sides dwell;
Yes tear for tear, yes death did well!

Urge firms glory, urge frames action;
Love of country, love of duty;
Yield to vain sire, yield to grand thought;
See siege and fire, see plan and plot;
Sense raging seas, sense warring ways;
Etch destiny, etch faraway;
Sacred code free, sacred code slay!

One decade's scheme, one decade's stray;
Reach for war themes, reach for home sway.

One brave man knows; one brave heart grows;
Dare siege bold war, dare wood horse show;
Yes far from kin, yes far from home;
Struggles seek win, struggles find roam;
Seek warrior's end, seek journey's rest;
Endless this blend, endless this quest;
Unleash wise sense, unleash clear scan;
Succeed suspense, succeed ascend.

Ithaca prompts, Ithaca sighs;
Trust warring romps, trust homeward cry;
Heed the musings, heed the warnings;
Apt questioning, apt answering;
Choice brought your here, choice takes you there;
Apply good cheer, apply heart's care!

Calm and stern poise, calm and brave flight;
Apply sure voice, apply fond sight;
Love takes you where? Love brought you here?
Live your harsh fare, live your prized spheres;
Survive trials' glare, survive life's tears.

Yes shrewd and brave, yes calm and clear;
Opt tact that saves, opt plan that steers;
Use fool and knave, use con and cheer!

Home floods your heart, home calls your face;
Offer pure art, offer sure trace;
Mind what you find, mind what you meet;
Effort you bind, effort you greet.

Hero of fate, hero of old;
Echoes unbraid, echoes unfold;
Realms of Greek yore, realms of Homer;
Old tales before, old times yonder.

Quack's Progress

Arriving from unknown somewhere
He set up clinic in the market square
Declared he could cure any disease
Using herbal drugs of plants and trees
Townsfolk being credulous
Soon to his shop began to rush
Diabetics, rheumatics, asthmatics flooded
None over his degree brooded
A few weeks later, afloat was this rumor
He cures for he rightly detects the humor
Realizing that every client is a prospective fan
He talked in technical terms even with laymen
He would expose his victims to numerous medical terms
Also trade-names, contents, firms, diseases and germs
Just to exhibit erudition and sound philosophy
Without occasion he embarked on learned topics
Often dwelt on sedatives and epilepsy
Or discoursed at length on tumor and biopsy
Then in a torrent of rodomontade would relate
Histories of cases cured with specific names and date
Discourses full of references to Ayurvedic treatises
Madhav, Charak, Susrut and other varieties
To prove his point he recited aloud original excerpts
As a result ,he soon won the epithet: "expert of experts"
"Discourteous ingrates! They even do not thank
Though I give 'em new life" exclaimed the mountebank.
Always eager to spar against allopathy
At the slightest provocation he would lecture on allopathic hazards
Or would lament on untidy hospitals and unhygienic wards
Boldly averring: "To hide anything from patients is a deadly sin"
Within no time he became a celebrity
His tricks worked and brought him publicity
After a year DHO came to see him in person
And sought his counsel for his sick son
A minister's car at his doorstep halted
Just to enhance libido and weakness treated
He gave the minister powerful mercury dust
Which triggered his vigor and inflamed his lust
Then to CM's ears reached his fragrant fame
Who called him secretly telling him not to declare name
MPs in turn heard of this rare phenomenon
And turned up to consult him one by one
Director drug control came to seek his advice
For chronic dysentery and perennial bronchitis
At length PM had to send him his compliments
For service to nation and" particular "patients
The whole world acknowledged him as master of his craft
But a person knew his truth in his own staff
His compounder knew his master was a fake
But he swallowed the secret for heaven's sake
