The Astonishing Serenity of Eventide

A kaleidoscope of azure and intense tangerine,
resonating beauty so peaceful and serene-
My eyes are raptured from the sun descending,
the most astonishing sight I’ve ever seen.
Soon the ebon sky shall arrive with dusk ascending.

Breathtaking and elegant I see nothing but appeal,
there are no metaphors to describe just how I feel-
With each blink of my eye the scenery modifies,
and with each transformation my heart does heal,
bringing resplendency to life with the closing of the skies.

Peach sapphire radiancy with staggering desire,
a long day of sunshine turns into eventide fire-
The day is concluded with heaven’s sweet abyss,
twilight approaches as tranquility I do acquire.
I watch the stillness appear as the intimate clouds kiss.

No sights can be seen with this much placid repose,
it’s time for rest for the weary as daylight comes to close-
Soon dawn will arrive with a new artisan hue,
and all things mother nature brings in marvel shall expose.
Now it’s time to bid farewell and say with awe... adieu.

Eventide eases a discordant day
as peach amber contrails billow on high.
Pink ginger crawls throughout dark smoky gray
and fades as peaceful night’s cover grows nigh.

An informal jam of the waves below,
throbs in harmonic regularity.
The nourishing sounds, some high and some low,
invigorate with their sweet charity.

Muffled moans and grievous groans of the week,
adversity and conflict lose their sway.
Improbable dreams and hopes of the meek
a nearer realization away.

I ask of the night why it slips into my bedroom and
extinguishes Earth's light,
He replied softly "I'm a jealous lover and my shade
of evening lies down beside you, as we bid the
augustness of the sun adieu."

I laugh and weep at the same time,
as I'm in love with the four season's soirees
he enchants my heart with.
Many years ago, walking slowly hand in hand
with my lifeguard lover on the sands of Fire Island,
I thought love's charms would last,
his fire with starlight, jewels of moonlight,
and kisses-
with summer's wane he faded into September's
wooing embrace.

Yet glorious eventide was always there,
and, as he filled my eyes with the swallow's flight,
he whispered breathlessly, "You are mine to keep."

Premium Member Eventide In the Woodland

Wind drifts along a river lined with trees
and dances further inland among dew-kissed leaves
in the woods to which I have been led
while meandering off the beach’s trail.

I stand now in a clearing
wanting to dance to the wind’s whisperings
as in the silken twilight, the sun sinks low.
Beneath a cobalt sky now crimson spun,
I twirl and twirl
until the scarlet of the sky starts to recede.

Tall silhouttes surround me.
They are the patterns emerging
as shadows weave the light that lingers
among the woodland’s sheltering trees,
whose limbs are long green arms
reaching up to glorify the God
whose hand now dims the sun.

I see cerise and hear it flutter!
Two cardinals emerge
as the fluttering I heard.
Forest creatues murmur from near
and from afar.
It’s time to quickly head for home.
I watch the red birds glide
into the eventide.

Eventide

When God was a burning bush
He happened to see Eve's tush
Butt wise to his games
Eve peed on the flames
And disappeared in a whoosh!

Eventide

warm breeze eventide
fireflies light pink roses
crickets sing a song.

While
watching
and melding
with diffused light,
as the hues so shift,
we are plunged into trance,
dancing with unbound delight,
whilst yet present in tranquil peace,
as sol waves goodbye from a distance
and this dream we have lived for a day ends.

Premium Member Waning Gibbous Moon Aglow

At start of darkening eventide
The skyline brings lustre to one's eyes
As sun is slipping away from sight
The sky is a picturesque delight.

Trees grace the illustrious sunset
In serene, ebony silhouette
Stately they are standing in tableau
Against the radiant sunset show.

Time to let one's negative thoughts blow
Forgetting one's sorrows and their woe
To complete tasks waiting to be done
Afore one's dreamy dreams have begun.

In ethereal nightly gloaming
Lovers everywhere are out roaming
Beneath a magical starlit show
With a waning gibbous moon aglow.

                       flowers are weeping
                       sister wildflowers are gone
                       stars shedding soft tears

Alabaster blue
Angelically mirror the sea
Polishing the shore

Premium Member Eventide Comes

Eventide comes with amber blush,
a hue of calm presides.
Scent of rain upon the wind,
caresses the countryside.

Slow the tawny glow fades,
as twilight steals the scene.
There upon the sky's palette,
comes a violet sheen.

Chasing the sun to the sea,
night wraps us in her cloak.
A soft deep blue on velvet black,
as the land, moonlight strokes.

Eventide

Brushed with the languorous strokes of sunset
The landscape touched by a sinewy fire,
Breathing beneath the purple haze sky
As electrical dusk tugs molecular wire.

Bats from the caverns jerk black on thermals,
Bouncing their radar off structures and ground,
Charred blots of rag flap through the ether,
Guided in following echoes of sound.

Lights gleaming yellow in dullish convection,
Pale at the windows of ramshackle bars,
Shadows drop slowly in gutters and roadways
  Silhouette snowfalls burying cars.

On the spire of the church a weathervane creaks,
Fossilised cockerel of iron and age,
Pointing to something that lay in the distance,
Something to which light could no more engage?

Eventide comes with a lonely delivery,
The cloak of atonement spread onto the day
As the hours that burned fade into the past
And scenes that once anchored have drifted away.

Premium Member Sunset

Sunsets
Beyond doubt I’m sure there could never be
Displays as lovely as sunsets to me
Changing kaleidoscopic shades of red
As sun descends to rest his drowsy head.

God’s evening scene at its glorious best
We upon earth are stupendously blessed
Sky is most picturesque at eventide
While world awaits moon and stars energise.

Though at times grey clouds blot out the sunshine
Because it’s raining somewhere and that’s fine
Downpour of rain’s vital for revival
Creatures of earth and mankind’s survival.

So whenever there’s a stunning sunset
The artist with His colourful palette
Paints the sky in the most delightful way
Treasure for pleasure at close of the day.

Eventide

The sand's running low,
It's near time to go;
The water is boiling away.
The shadows grow long,
A lullaby song
Is heard at the closing of day.
