Best Chances Poems
chances of me leaving home
chances of me donning blues
chances of me wearing a flight suit
chances of me being chosen
to carry the sports flag
chances of me staying
what chance do I have to find love
chances of living a life apart
from what I had known
chances of being whistled at by ships
chances of the greatest adventure of my life
chances of boogie boarding the Pacific
chances of kittens
yes, kittens…mom wasn’t a fan
chances of tempura and teriyaki
chances of children in muumuus and leis
chances of sunshine and rainy season days
chances motor pedaling a bit far away
what we won’t do when we are pinch-cheek young
chances of wading, submerging, merging
with (parrot- butterfly- trigger- trumpet- ) fish; and tangs
chances of Hanauma reef and frozen peas
chances of being half a world away
chances of my son finding love in Guam
chances of my daughters marrying Southerners
chances of happiness
chances of me leaving home
My heart is overflowing
With a love that just keeps growing
Lighting the path toward hope
Leaving me weightless, like a feather
More alive because we’re together
My mind is filled with joy
Laughter and love, amazing power
Whispered to the heavens
On the rays of lemon sunlight
Reflected in the stars
As they twinkle through the night
Exciting the sapphire skies
My thoughts are flooded with
Joy, feelings that simply destroy
The shadows that might harm
That sinking feeling of wrong
The darkness in the storm
Your presence is like a promise
Assuring me of the happiness
That flows through my veins
Uncovering the whisper of grace
My dreams are sometimes alive
With the brilliance of intimate skies
Filled with hope and faith
Colored in hues of silent prayers
Awakening the soul to its praise
To a Father who brings out the way
Toward freedom, redemption
Salvation and the second chance
That comes from giving in to His wisdom
And leaning on the word, the One
Who guides our hearts toward home
My heart is bursting with radiance
Vibrant twists and turns
Of laughter, joy and truth
Brought alive by the sounds of goodness
Discovered on the wings of mercy
Brought to life inside where I know
There is only this hope, this belief
That God is alive and He brings peace
Beyond understanding, a shining
Example of His love, His kindness,
His wisdom and strength
The reason He gives us all
A second chance
He is a God of second chances
A God of light and laughter
A God of redemption – filled with
The zeal that will thrill spirits
Send tingles of fulfillment
Wake up the sleeping soul and kindle
A reason for living on the edge
Of a sincerity, a serenity – a faith
That gives from the depths of its place
Amid the worries and sorrows and reasons
To let go of this opportunity
To share God’s deliverance with those
Who need, most of all, to hear of Him!
Jesus is the reason for every thought
Every feeling on the heart
Every desire from the soul
The rich and brilliant hope that flows
Through veins that are alive with
Sensations of sweet faith
Salvation comes – not to those who wait
But to those who repent and praise
Those who know Jesus brings a second chance!
He never really thought about it nor did he see reason to care
Life was about true grit and he knew damn sure it wasn't fair
As he had made it this far and never needed anybody's hand
He didn't just wish upon a star but everything he had planned
As he was driving along, he suddenly jammed on the brakes
Something had went wrong and really that is all it ever takes
It was a really horrible scene and he almost didn't survive
He thought the light was green, this on just a simple drive
When the man did finally awake it was a very slow process
Let there be no mistake many issues he had time to address
See the man had clinically died as the doctors tried to revive
As once again they tried, but that is not why today he is alive
He won't talk about his own story but today he's very different
About seeing some Glory, I don't even know what he even meant
He"s not the way he used to be, no he's just not the same guy
But now he is actually nice to me so who am I to ask him why
Please don't cry baby
I know you're frighten
I know you're hungry
I know you're painful
I know you want something
I know you're asking for help
I know you want to follow
I know you want my company or escort
Oh, please don't cry baby
You'll have a lot of chances to cry
When you grow up
When you're sad you cry
When you're too nervous till you lost your control
You cry
When you're sick you cry
When you lost something valuable you cry
When you fail your exam you cry
When someone leave you you cry
When...
The sky cries too
It comes as rain
The sea cries too
It comes as towering waves
You know, mum cries too
Whenever you cry I cry
Please don't cry baby
Please tell me you're always happy
Do you believe that second chances are a way to mend what was broken?
Apologizes are not easily accepted and hardly ever spoken.
Suppose you we’re given another chance to undo all your past mistakes.
Would that alter your life’s fate?
A lot times in my life I wonder where do I belong,
Especially, after I undo all my past wrong.
In life we make a lot of mistakes but we shall learn from them all.
Whether, they are big and small.
Sometimes the truth will never be revealed.
Sometimes the wounds doesn't find time to heal.
It only takes a deep desire to try with all our heart.
It does not take a new day to make a brand new start.
Giving another chance without having a revengeful mind,
It shows humanly compassion and always remembers to be kind.
“Sometimes life gives you a second chance, or even two! Not always, but sometimes. It’s what you do with those second chances that counts.”
? Dave Wilson
I
gave
him a
second chance,
a third and fourth chance.
He was a smooth talker- a fraud!
Prisoner of pretty words, I did not see the truth,
oh, I was smitten easy prey for a skilled abuser and yet I miss him still!
His
words
pretty,
charming ways,
his fierce deep kisses!
My chain was sweet lust and desire,
it was hard to push him away- it took all my strength.
I was smitten an easy prey for an evil man skilled at getting what he wants!

Somewhere down the line,
When everything seemed fine,
I slipped and had a fall,
Oh! It was great, not small;
I tried, but couldn't get up,
And was feeling truly fed up,
I asked God with a frown,
"Why did You let me down?"
He smiled gently at me,
And said, "Don't you see?
You are on the wrong road,
The way is way too broad."
I cried loudly with fear,
"How did I end up here?"
"You started on the Narrow Way,
But took diversion the other day."
I knew something was amiss,
But had been lost in temporal bliss;
I'd sinned more than I could count,
Day by day, they seemed to mount.
I wanted to throw that all away,
Return to the good old Narrow Way;
Would God forgive and accept me back,
As I try to re-enter the right track?
Would He embrace an erring child?
So unclean and so defiled?
I repented and asked pardon from God,
Never to enter the way too broad.
He heard my prayer and helped me stand,
I walked back with Him, hand-in-hand.
I realised something that made me wonder--
"If only we are willing to surrender...
Surrender ourselves and our circumstances,
Our God is a God of second chances;
If we let Him take the lead,
He will meet our every need;
He'll guide us in the correct way,
And He'll be our strength and stay."
I looked up at Him and widely smiled,
Wasn't I happy to be called His child?
He nodded and said, "Do sin no more,
Until you reach the other shore."
I promised Him that I would not,
'Cause my life had taken a whole new start.

(An experience which can happen to any of us in this tempting world)
Love is heart given
Hoping we receive the same
Chances lovers take
When came the moment
That we held each others heart
Love, made no mistake
One life together
Retrospect and circumspect
Is what we made it
There's something I must confess
I have made the biggest mess
And I'm sorry as can be
Begging you to forgive me
Standing her with my regrets
Hoping something in you lets
My apology be heard
Knowing your heart is badly hurt
There's no way I will stop trying
To repair a heart that's dying
From the error of my ways
I must live with everyday
When I left without a trace
Tears falling on your sad face
Not knowing the why or where
The decision to disappear
Was a choice I can't undo
Knowing what I did to you
Will haunt me forever more
In memories that will be stored
Always there to remind me
My past and bad history
Isn't fair to put on you
You've never left me black and blue
But I got scared enough to flee
Thinking you'll do the same to me
I'm emotionally mental
You've been nothing except gentle
Now I'm looking in your eyes
Begging for just one more try
Praying, wishing, hoping still
There's a piece of love that will
Be inside you somewhere deep
And it somehow starts to seep
Through your soul, body and mind
Then maybe you just might find
I am here to stay forever
No mistakes will be made ever
Eh, pal what are your chances of winning?
Ah, you could have banked all this saving
for an early retirement...
to cherish that sentiment!
When you're completely broke, start cringing!
Events revolve inside a magic ball
People change outside a hallowed, crystallized ball.
Let it go;
Say not a word,
Save us both from all the hurt.
It's been too long,
Our friendship's gone.
Your "jokes" have gone a bit too far.
You'll miss me, yes,
But just because,
A door-mat is all I ever was.
You walked over me,
Never let me defend.
Is that what you'd call a true friend?
You've realized now,
I don't need you.
You're trying to get to me again.
Not again,
I'm not giving in.
You replaced me before,
Go back to them.
Late of '56, a run through time I'll take
In your sweet blue shorts and top
You stopped my time and said
"Mister, a ticket for 1 if you please
I have this night all for myself,
So I'm taking my chances".
And I stood till the night ends,
At the front door of the movies
Hoping you'd notice,
The silly brown eyed man in me.
So here I am taking my chances,
Walked straight right up and said
"I hope you don't mind,
but you stopped my time for a while,
and I know this is silly,
But lady if you'd let me,
may I walk you home?".
Time came, I knew you well
You held my hand and stayed
Here we are taking our chances
Hoping they'd do the same
(country lyric)
Me... closed box... death hangs*,
Heartless dreamers can't see in
Bastards! Am I dead?
Poet's Notes:
A famous thought experiment in Physics in which the life or death of Schridinger's
Cat (an imaginary animal) in a box depends on unpredictable chance. The
experiment unimpeded, the cat will die, the question is only when. The larger
issue however, is that since no one can see what has actually happened, the
actual state of the cat is unknown and hence can only be discussed in terms of
the probability of the cat being either dead or alive. And probability ends the
earlier mechanistic view of both God and His creation. God is no longer black and
white, color has returned to His cheeks.**
* hangs - like the sword of Damocles, capable of falling randomly at any instant.
** see my earlier poem 'Black Body' for an even more poetic discussion.
I wish I would survive this but the chances are blur
I'm striving hard but daily it gets worst
My heart has been tored and my gut devoured
Now I'm nothing more than a wrecking whore
Life has blessed me with hurts
Hurts so hard that my world's only dark
Even when rays of sunshine in sky immerse
Yet, still around me is gloom and clouds
Life has treated me thus
Hence, I've given up on love
I boasted you're the one and we'd settle down
And blissfully grow with lots of fun
But those wishes became painful thorns
That hurts me daily in heavy tons
And if by chance this throb in me slums
I'll scream to every ear that I'm forever done
