Old John's birthday was fast approaching, he'd be seventy-two
And his family asked him nicely what he would like to do
"Do you fancy a nice picnic or sightseeing on a train?"
"No thanks" said Old John "I'd like to wing walk on a plane ".
His family thought he was joking, in fun they all did mock
They said "It will be freezing, and you might die of shock"
He said" I have no fear, and everything will be just fine
I found it on a website, and I've booked it on the line".
His family they were mortified and thought that he was joking
But one week from today Old John he'll be high flying
A week later at the airfield Old John was quite ecstatic
His family on the other hand were all starting to panic.
He had his safety briefing and then put on all his gear
Now he was raring to go, Old John he showed no fear
He climbed up onto the wing and then he got strapped in
The pilot gave him the thumbs up and soon they were flying.
Up into the air now, they banked to the left and right
His family they all agreed it was one awesome sight
The pilot signalled to Old John, it was the grand finale
This is what Old John had wanted all his family to see.
The plane it dived then looped the loop, it was incredible to see
Old John was already thinking of what his next stunt could be
The plane then landed safely his family they were all so proud
Old Johns ears were still ringing; the wind had been so loud.
He'd felt the cold biting wind pressing hard against his face
Jokingly he asked his family if it was still in one place
His wife she then kissed him and asked, "How do you feel"?
Old John said, "I'm starving now, I'm ready for a big meal".
His son then asked him, what his next bold venture would be
Old John laughed out loudly and said "A shark cage in the sea
My life I see as a book with pages that are not written yet
I always confront my fears or there will be blank pages of regret".
When I tried, I’d grab your hand
Pull you close and hurt you inside
When I lived, I’d bring you down
There’s nothing left to live for this time
Funny faces, painful places
Tempting lies and metaphoric races
Spiteful smiles, selfish trials
Losing friends within my denial
When I gave, I’d take the land
Sell it off and then demand
If you give, I’ll share the wealth
But now I’m done and I see sand
Trading thoughts, selling pain
Despising trust unless I gain
Unheard sounds, silent voices
Expressing nothing and no more choices
I got lost in fear but now I’m fine
I fell so far and lost all time
Landed on my feet and heard a rhyme
I heard my breath and took in this sign
Waking, feinting, coloured paintings
Shivering and understating
Take my mind, take my soul
Circulate it all as I’m creating
Words that breathe, words that show
Wisdom as my eyesight grows
I’ve seen the fall, I’ve felt the breeze
Swam through space and shadowed trees
Another death and I’ll be fine
My soul has finally aligned
Though my body still a cage in time
My spirit travels and I find
I got lost in fear but now I’m fine
I fell so far and lost all time
Landed on my feet and heard a rhyme
I heard my breath and took in this sign
The world is round and so I spin
I’ll close my eyes and I’ll begin
Gaslighting
Your words are etched deep into my skin,
They must have hurt, these scars,
But you told me they were beautiful,
And I believed you.
Your accusations have ripped my flesh in,
My brain and heart, are stored in your jars,
But you said I was safe and beautiful,
And I believed you.
I am bones in a cage in a rusty bin,
I have forgotten my dreams, and the stars,
You said they were never beautiful,
And I believed you.
I am dust, in air spread too thin,
I float through the gaps in the bars,
I feel the warmth of a spark within,
The glimmer of hope from afar,
The shimmer of lights that begin
To glow, burn, blaze, char,
You towered over me, so beautiful,
I was so ugly and useless, you see,
But I somehow held onto the choice
To believe not in you, but in me.
"NEMESIS"
“Where do Angels go in their dreams?
They go where wolves go to catch foxes,
venturing forth out of small caged boxes
to the Between-Hours of Lost Love Woods”
NEMESIS
is watching her
from his dreams
prowling soft Silver fur
hear his soft-wolf tread,
Nemesis has left his comfortable bed
he is onto her, he is tracking her Heavenly scent
She is Light Angel
spreading luminous wings
shining it all around,
she thinks of escaping
barefoot from this sullied ground;
her skin is cold to the touch,
no longer standing sentry
she's lost in the murky
Between-Hours of Lost Love Woods,
Black Tulips abound
Wolf is stalking her,
her scent makes him wild;
lurking, nearer, ever nearer
invading her dreams of better
neighbourhoods and childish things
simple and clearer, she is
spreading brand new wings to freedom,
away from Black Dogs in their prisons
those kicked out of Heaven,
barking their ignored plea bargains
of rushed stolen innocence, begging -
all of their pardons are lost, 'tis a given,
her hot angel tears turn to frost
Nemesis soft-footed paw,
back arching, he snarls, bares his fangs
then he grins, he's closer much closer
he can feel her in the skin under his fur,
he’s hunting Her down,
breathes his turgid breath
all over "The Lost",
the hidden creatures running quietly wild,
in the Between-Hours of Lost Love Woods;
beckoning her, his low growl ever nearer,
ever never, his hot breath on the prowl
reaching out for her
he’s raging to roar -
in her sees his mirror
There are stories, she hears,
of a Wolf on the loose from his cage in
the Between-Hours of Lost Love Woods -
she forgets the real reason she came,
calmly brings her wings down by her side,
she continues to shine her light all around,
she can feel him
Burning hot breath on her neck,
he growls ever so softly, so clear in her ear,
“Don’t Run Sweet Thing, Don’t Run,
You are found, I am here.”
Black Tulips abound

The Allegory of the Cage
I have not written much of late;
I toil in my hamster wheel.
While ev'ry sage of ev'ry age
Will gape with wonder at my cage,
And speak in voices small and still
About my stilted, careworn gait.
Yet when I do find time to write,
I'll leave my cage, in mind alone.
But if I'm sad and terror-clad,
You'll know how deeply I've gone mad,
When slashing sinew, skin and bone
To cleave a thought on pages white.
Now writ with expurgated bile,
My caustic words are dark and spare.
I've filled the pages with my rages
Over others' self-made cages.
As they trudge without a care
And bear it all with practiced smile.
For, I know what they don't see;
Our hamster wheels are hooked to naught.
With blinded sight, and faces tight,
They churn and burn their wheels with might,
And not a lone, insightful thought
Will loose their bonds and set them free.
I cry out loud, an anguished howl,
Still knowing I will join back in.
Yet all the tears from lengths of years
While fleeing from our deepest fears,
Can never heal a single sin,
Nor soothe away a single scowl.
So, in I go to man my post.
I coax my wheel back up to speed.
I'm better now. I know not how,
But sidle up beside my trough
And eat the slop I do not need,
Because I'm better off than most.
I have not written much but this,
My musings on a ghastly fate:
We turn our wheels and chase our heels
Forgetting how it truly feels
To live and die, to love and hate;
Our ignorance indeed is bliss.

Within the simple heartbeat prowls a spell
Which hunts a tender cage in which to dwell
To resonate its richness: share its thrall
And claw dank loneliness from chosen voids.
It is a predator, and rest assured
Creature for which we pine is just as fell
As any carnivore of which they tell:
For mercy not in repertoire at all.
It strikes in seedy club and idyll dell
And tears internal organs, hope smoke-cured,
From bloody carcases as once it buoyed
Such viscera on optimistic swell.
It’s not that beast will drag all hearts to hell;
It merely rings for “self” that last death knell.
In a bird's life.We get things like a bird seed
bell, or a set of wood chimes, to wake the house
after a long night sleep.In a bird's life.We get
names like Tweety Bird, Woody Woodpecker, Daffy Duck,
or maybe names like Buddy, Sunny, or Baby.In a bird's
life.We do a parrot's talk, a bird scream, or just a
low sounding bird chirp. To brighten up the sound in
the air all around town.In a bird's life.We get plenty
of bird seed, a squirming worm, a crab, or a small fish to
feed upon.In a bird's life.We like to sing, or repeat what
the master has spoken. We like to fly from tree to tree, or
just flutter our wings in the living room bird cage.In a
bird's life.We like to chase other birds such as cockatoos,
bluebirds, and seagulls over the ocean blue. While our love's
so true.In a bird's life.We feed pigeons in the park, while
we throw bred crumbs all around. In a bird's life..

In his cage in a rage- Baby Harry
and those visit his realm best be wary.
A smart cockatoo
who screams out: " #*@# you!"
What his master might say could be scary.
My Theme is : Birds singing.
But I hope that birds talking is okay.
However, as I write this,
Baby Harry is talking, but not in a socially acceptable way...
how beautiful is your beloved,
the one adored of your heart,
when she has returned from the meadow!
my beloved, my darling,
my heart longs to you love
for that is all that you created!
I say to you:
See what happened!
I came ready to trap birds,
snare in one hand,
my cage in the other
together with my mat.
all the birds of the land Punt
have descended on Kemet,
anointed with myrrh.
the first to come takes my bait.
its fragrance comes from Punt,
its claws full of balm.
my heart desires you
let us release it together
I am with you, I alone,
to let you hear the sound of my call,
for my lovely myrrh-anointed one.
My god, my lotus
The north wind blows
How pleasant it is to go to the river.
My heart longs to go down to bathe before you,
that I may show you my beauty in a tunic
of the finest royal linen,
drenched in fragrant oils,
my hair plaited in reeds.
I'd go down to the water with you,
and come out to you carrying a red fish,
which feels just right in my fingers.
I'd set it before you, while gazing at your beauty.
O my hero, my beloved, come and see me!
am I not here with you?
then why have you set your heart to leave?
why don't you embrace me?
has my deed come back upon me?
if you seek to caress my thighs
is it because you are thinking of food
that you would go away?
or because you are a slave to your belly?
is it because you care about clothes?
well, I have a bedsheet!
is it because you are hungry
that you would leave?
then take my breasts
that their gift may flow forth to you.
better a day in the embrace of my beloved
than thousands on thousands anywhere else!
I stopped suddenly in front of the shop that sold donuts
noticing an irate cop outside was having a moment
yelling and running after a squirrel was quite a sight
as I watched them both run across to the park in broad daylight
Suddenly the squirrel dropped something from his mouth
quickly retrieving the donut scurrying south
with the cop on the squirrels heels in hot pursuit
I wondered if this story would be in tomorrows news
The squirrel scurried with his donut prize up a tree
with the cop climbing up after the critter was a sight to see
the agile cop reached out and caught the squirrels tail
and brought the thieving critter down without fail
After the flustered cop got the donut out of the squirrels teeth
he put the squirrel in a small cage in his patrol cars back seat
saying to the squirrel "you found out crime doesn't pay today
and if you or anyone touches my donuts there's hell to pay!"
When he left I resumed getting my bag of dunkin donuts
quickly running with my goodies noticing some stray mutts.

The winter's torture rumbles down
The street, through my meager abode
And pierces my skin and inflames my bones.
Need to get out of maelstrom for a day,
Perhaps a day long bus ride.
I count my money and I'm a few
Beggings short of the five I need
To ride the system of citizens
Who don't realize they sit in a
Castle meant for a king.
So I dust myself off, look the
Best I can for one of my means.
Put on my gentleman's face, check
My breath for last nights taste and
Position myself so you can't avoid me.
"Hey buddy, got a quarter?" "My
Car is out of gas..." " 'scuse me, dear
Lady, just a quarter so I can eat."
Twenty-five, thirty-five, one dollar!"
With glee on my face and a sprite in my step, I move on.
I take my fiver and purchase a pass.
I feel like a gentleman of sorts with my
Golden ticket to tour this megapolitan
Cage in comfort and warmth from the
Ingredients of a dreary day.
I take a seat in the back, of course
Not wanting to be the object of
Stares and distain, whose
Territory I invaded on this blustery day.
Sorry but I'm riding in style today.
As I doze a little bit from the warmth,
My dreams become congealed with
Reality creating a world of surreal
Rapture of peace. "Hey, driver, there's
A drunken bum on the bus!"
My world becomes shattered with
Those few little words as if I
Actually ought I could be one
Of them for a brief moment
In time, but I suppose not.
So, in despair I climb down
The steps to face the grit of
The storm that rages through the city
And in my heart. Man, I will
Sure miss that bus.
The greatest Show on earth can be found
when the circus comes to town.
All the adults and children gather around
it's under the big top where they can be found.
A three ringed circus has all the attractions
so, step up an experience the action.
The ring master prevails with his whip
top hat and red tails.
He presents all the attractions
giving all such great satisfaction.
Tight rope walking, man shot from canon,
trapeze artists fly through the air
as though without a care.
Man eating tigers can be seen,
in a cage, in the center ring.
The man eating tigers
do what the trainers desire
even jumping through rings of fire.
Then there is a dancing bear
doing summersaults in the air.
Ten seals on pedestals in a circle
tossing around a ball that is purple.
Animal balloons can be made
by humorous clowns that don't have to be paid.
The finale is a parade
elephant's trucks clasping tails lead the way.
The circus is ready to perform another day.
The monkey, that’s me,
The monkey that pretends to be free.
So happy to have his day,
To hear the cheers, the laughs,
And you looking my way.
Laughing at the faces I make,
My clever tricks, the cakes I bake,
Clapping resounds in my ears,
And blows away my silent tears.
It’s the monkey’s day,
No matter how many tricks I play,
A monkey I will stay.
I will always be locked up in my little cage,
I may shake the bars in sorrow or rage,
But I need the peanuts they throw in my face,
I need their laughing to avoid disgrace.
A little monkey, with monkey hopes and monkey dreams,
Monkey desires and monkey schemes,
Monkey wishes his fears away,
Monkey longs for a better day.
Sometimes I take myself so seriously,
As if I’m very important really,
I dress up as if I’m real and proud,
And strut around my head in a cloud.
I pretend that I’m important for you and the world,
I drink up the laughter the applause of the girls,
Just before I realise my dilemma,
My cloths are too small my act is a failure.
Sometimes they pick my cage up and move it around,
Sit it the wall or put it on the ground,
Sometimes they take me out in the sun,
Or swing it around to have some fun.
But most of the time they forget that I’m here,
Here in the dark of a thousand years.
Alone waiting for you to come home,
Searching the horizon for your grave stone.
In fact there’s nothing left at all,
In my monkey brain they nailed to the wall.
Does a monkey have a soul?
Am I for real or really just a hole.
Will I wake up and disappear?
Will I wake up and become thin air?
That will really be the day,
The day the monkey got away.
My last trick, they didn’t see nor even care,
The day the monkey dissolved in thin air.
No more shaking my cage in despair,
No more pretending that I am here,
No more strutting about, making a noise,
No more playing with my plastic toys.
I will disappear and no one will see,
Nor even remember a faint memory of me,
They’ll put the empty cage on the wall,
And my ghost will eat the peanuts they let fall,
As they continue to wonder, laugh and clap,
At the empty cage, dead monkey on your lap.

Wind in the glass
Wind in the glass,
Emotions repressed,
Cage in the grass
Released heart depressed.
Tree in the wind,
Free with his feelings,
No more wants to hind,
Master of his dealings.
Words flowing free,
Discharged hidden says,
Sun in the marquee
Freedom of its rays.
Light in his face,
Kindness in his deeds.
For the human race,
Heart and soul needs,
Open freedom seeds.
Deep beneath the flesh and bones; the cage in which my hearts encased
Appears to be cracking - slowly - day by day
No, you can't see it, but i know - and
I can feel it - and
Everytime you say my name... it breaks a
