Best Burning Rubber Poems

Nascar Wild Man Willy

The speedometer busted sixty, motor screaming r r r s,
Smoked his firestones weavin’ and passin’ cars!

He slammed third dumped the clutch and headed north,
At a hundred five, he hit the highway and found fourth…

The smell of burning rubber filled the cab,
He pressed pedal to the metal for all she had!

Turbo screamed, the engine roared!
G,s pressed him to the back seat board,

He couldn't go on,
His strength was gone!

His muscles stretched and ached,
How much more could he take!?

His only fan totally enthralled
Gears grinding,..engine stalled

He couldn't help it...his eyelids dropped like lead!
Dad hugged him out of his Big Wheels and said,
”Wild Man Willy, my son..it’s time for bed. “…

Premium Member The End of the Open Road

Electric cars are coming
  Driverless ones too
I wonder if you feel
  as disappointed as I do

If you remember the thrill of the road
with the top down on your car
Wind whipping your hair wildly
  Speedometer's needle your guiding star

Accelerating on the freeway
  Punching out at green lights
Burning rubber at those stop signs
  Crossing the country, seeing sights...

Never again to 'see the USA
  in our Chevrolets,' we are
surrounded by sensors, alarms and air bags
belted in seat harnesses and gagged

Two slugs raced around the flower leaving skid marks.

Premium Member Car Crash

Smell the burning rubber.
Hear the screeching tyre.
Watch in awe as the wheels fly off
and the chassis catches fire.
Then avert your eyes.
Say your au revoir.
The casualties are packed in tight
Limp inside the car.

Premium Member My First Instrument

"My First Instrument"
Bassoon baby so special to me
The first thing I really took care of
Instrumental to my growth
I cleaned it every day

Woodwind wonder
Of stained sycamore maple
A glossy fine finish
For someone just beginning

Sleeping with my jazz filled fantasies
I was a double reed romantic
Leading hit ensembles
For the restaurant down the street

Practiced awkwardly were sheets of music
Letting out so many terrible sounds
Repulsive to even the neighbors
Cementing my ineptitude

I had a case for a device I could not handle
It was black and lightly gilded
For containing a cacophonous weapon
Most threatening

But caring parents blocked their ears
With cotton balls packed inside
While my idiotic iterations went on upstairs
For all those many months

And after some time had passed
Rejection from the band
And looks from the neighbors
Playing I was on a musical beast of burden

When I put it all together
A sensation of madness evolved
That no one could tell me the truth
I stunk worse than burning rubber

So I used it to get my way
A sort of give me what I want
Asking for more desert or staying up late
'Cause I'll play, believe me, I'll play!

Eventually I went to my parents and told them "I quit"
They removed the cotton and responded in turn
With smiles galore and threats from the community no more
Everybody was nice to me again

Route 666

There are many road that lead to hell,
but there is a peculiar one
that will surely get you there as well
Route 666
It's not on any road map,
can't be found by no G.P.S.
Could be located anywhere,
it's the devil's own private road of death
Takes two things to get put on this evil highway:
you had to have done something real bad
that caused lives to be lost,
but you got the blame put on someone else
That's requirement number one,
your crime being paid by an innocent
The other thing is, you had to have
stolen a car in order to escape future justice
Trying to flee into anonymity
But in gaining possession of the vehicle,
you take the life of the occupant(s) thereof
Thus, the second requirement is met,
you just doubled down in dealing out death
Route 666
The wheels are now in motion,
ladies and gentlemen, please place your bet
Will you make it to a safe haven,
and get away clean with the dirty deeds
Or will you find some gruesome way to die,
while evading capture in your stolen motorized steed
You don't yet know it,
but the race for your soul is on
The odds of you making it scot free,
well honestly, are impossibly long
At the edge of this haunted highway
is a lodge called Last Chance Motel
Get one last meal and a bad night sleep,
then go drive down that soulless stretch like a bat into hell
Route 666
The fastest road to hell
Many a bad hombre dragged this strip,
trying to avoid life sentence in a cell
Today is the day
the devil's gonna get his kicks
Before the night is over,
your sins are gonna catch up with you black cat quick
Route 666
Highway to hell
Has you burning rubber
to elude going to jail
Your bad luck to steal a car
whose steering gets shaky over sixty
Flipped you like a burnt burger,
another fiery death is what the devil relishes to see
Some luckless soul just passed your car,
seen it smoldering in a ditch
They pressed the pedal to the metal,
but outrunning the devil is a ...

At the Track

At the Track
At the starting line
Engines revving vroom, vroom, vroom
Burning rubber - GO
Flags are waving zoom, zoom, zoom
Better stop now for new tires

Rap Is Not Dead

the streets are now empty the clubs are shut down

not a sound until...

in the morning there will be sun a chance to have a lot of fun

old school to new school that how we rule

work hard to bring home the family jewel

break dancing was the thing of the past

today we got Acon & Fetty Wapp

those homeboy's do think a lot

but in the streets people are getting busy

smoking fat blunts & get pretty dizzy

we got to bounce to the ounce its the hour of power

don't sweat that Whoomp there it is girl just take a cold shower

we got lines being drawn in the sand when will we ever live to understand

it started with Grandmaster Flash with Mellie Mel & the Furious five

thank you Jesus that i'm still alive

got suckers that want to end me and bust up the economy

have we any dignity

gone are the days I used wake of in a haze

today were just a mouse stuck in its maze so be brave & act your age

Rap isn't dead i don't know what is going on in your head

you want a face full of lead

these are desperate times yet we settle for ill but faded rhymes

for a stated cause that's atrocious there's burning rubber in the road

sides are being drawn with heads in the street no meet and greet

so stand alive young G your going to make sweet history

for rap is where its at in my big mac attack

will take you to the limit one more time

Rap isn't dead as much is this rhyme

Premium Member While Beauty Sleeps

While Beauty Sleeps

While Beauty sleeps, there are souls upon this earth that have never known her. Many seasons have passed and her eyes are still shut. She is hiding behind pavements of tar and cement. She is drugged from the smell of burning rubber and plastic scents.
Styrofoam has compromised her health. There are souls upon this earth that have never laid eyes upon her. I am here to testify, to tell all who listens, that I am a poet-I came to tell you things that only poets can tell.
There are souls that I ennoble while looking through my eyes, they can see the deep woods, the flowing fountains, New earthlings can now envision the fragrances of a million blossoms bobbing, bobbing to the cricket's nightly song.
I am the architect rebuilding the walls of time... Desperately trying am I, to sing my song before more mortals die; To sing my loving words before more mortals die. There are souls upon this earth. it’s' sad but very true – Humans who know nothing of love and beauty.
We all must live to die or die without ever living. We stumble and sometimes fall; However, we have that something, that lost souls never saw.
We know grace and mercy, we know compassion, love, and respect; We knew mountains and valleys. We also knew blue skies without chemtrails. We knew praying mantis, we knew beetles and snails.
We knew breadfruit; and why dandelions and mushrooms grew. We know where beauty sleeps, so we live to tell the poets tale. We speak of days gone by and gently arouse her beauty as we speak.
I am not an artist of spoken word, neither am I a profit, I am but a poet shaking beauty gently, awakening her from a long, long nap...Reminiscent of when innocents reigned as king.
I do not recite for money nor do I sing for fame. I only report what my heart records, and look forward to another spring. I have danced with the humble, and shared wisdom with noble queens;
My excitement overflowing brings joy to eager ears. Loves fury has entitled me, to shield you from your fears. Myself, yes me, I whisper softly, as not to disturb hate.
God bless you on your journey; I can no longer interfere, nor save you from your fears.
You have what you need to carry on, and I know that you are able.
When love gave birth to folklores and fables...I gave birth to poetry babies.

Desolations Boulevard Ii

a bar door is ajar, only fading voices
echo into the void, from nowhere...and afar!

Here n there, trash drifts
ghosts in flickering neon.

Broken, floating, bloated
dead down eons halls
a last of white.

Crimson taillights roar along
an empty blacktop...

Ruins of ages-lost buildings hang together
like frozen corpses looking
into desolation‘s aftermath.

This boulevard is desolate n oblique
as enigmatic engines park n die
on this macadam late at night.

Carriages lurch, coughs, wheeze
electric spark, circuits churn
something burns.

...unmoored from the known.

Something in death throes
as hollow oblong boxes
glide shakily to a halt.

A vehicle, an unknown thing,
a machine of divine madness
silhouetted against the falling ash of sky.

The smell of burning rubber
a stench of ozone, the cry of the void.

Drift along a wind-swept boulevard
as streetlights wink on
while headlights die
in empty skull sockets, lie...

A white filigreed smoke drifts
as it stalls and hums
sputters and dies.

A drifting murmur of voices drift
whispers of lives lived out swift...

Eyes reflect and dance in the darkness
over a vacant steering wheel!

Light flickers briefly under the hood
deep deathly hums fade.

Only the tick of a cooling engine
echos into the frosty air.

As shadows puddle in endless despair
something stands at the end...

...of desolations boulevard!

Drive Like a Girl

My broker sent me a letter
Saying my insurance was over due
So I looked around on the internet
To see what I could do
I came across a web site
That really caught my eye
It’s called drive like a girl
Oh’ what a big surprise

I drive my little baby
And treat her with respect
I keep her clean and tidy
And her engines always kept
I love my little Betsey
And drive her like a girl
Burning rubber always
And revving hard as hell
Oh’ well, what the heck
Now, I’ve got a bleeper
Coz’ I went to drive like a girl
And got my insurance cheaper

So the next day I called them
On my mobile phone
I got a lovely girl
Chatting all alone
I said I'd like some insurance
For my latest star
She answered very calmly
Oh’ we can’t insure that car

Oh’ I said that’s funny
It does say drive like a girl.Com
Are you trying to tell me
That, I’ve got all quite wrong
She answered very sweetly
But oh’ you’re not a girl
I said I dig, I wear a wig
Now would you like a sale

I drive my little baby
And treat her with respect
I keep her clean and tidy
And her engines always kept
I love my little Betsey
And drive her like a girl
Burning rubber always
And revving hard as hell
Oh’ well, what the heck
Now, I’ve got a bleeper
Cause I went to Drive like a girl
And got my insurance cheaper

The Haiku Corral - Part 3

Haiku Licentioso
('They who quaff this cup shall see god
and The Magdalen')

with the *powder
that goes in the tea
comes the instructions:
''dump into the brew
mix salaciously
drink licentiously
and feel like a libertine''

''caution's for the birds
toss the birds back into the leaves
grab a broom
aim for and dip on the dance floor,
docido,
and mix salaciously
drink licentiously
feel like a libertine''

''noon's for stealing shade
afternoons for sawing logs
nights for stealing even deeper
and dawn for burning rubber
out of jail mate hell (or heaven),
so mix salaciously
drink licentiously
and cuss on your knees
like a libertine''

''love's for the blind
hatred for the weak
and bravery for the mad,
mix salaciously
drink licentiously
and ask for rebates on living
like a libertine''

''file for Chapter 11 on your intellect
strip-tease for bees
perjure yourself to bears
read *********** in leaves of the tea
and yellow journalism in your pee,
mix salaciously
drink licentiously
and celebrate like a libertine''

''acknowledge god in the tax code
the 1-800 goddess in the phone book
chase your mother-in-law down the street
catch yourself tripping over your dreams
plagiarize your nightmares,
and mix salaciously
drink licentiously
and hiccup like a libertine -
- for missing the bus
is half the fun
unless it's a disease you catch
your dog lies down with fleas
arises with a bladder-full
while divorce doesn't quite pay the bills,
so mix salaciously
drink licentiously
and go the way of all flesh and blood
like a libertine Ph. D.''

Racing

racing
burning rubber
smoke rolling from hot slicks
watching the track, at starting line
signals turning from red, yellow, then green
engine revved up, dumping the clutch
leg shaking, tires squalling
quickest wins first
racing

I Am the Stig

I race around this track
To make the fastest lap
In powered muscle cars
You bet, I’m driving that
Wearing a fibre glassed rig
And a white cat suit
You can call me the stig
The fastest thing on route

You’ve never seen my face
It’s covered that's a shame
I’m always in disguise
My black tinted visor hides
The thrill upon my face
My big blue sparkling eyes
Full of this excitement
The element of surprize

Its super cars and silly stuff
Fast and furious driving tuff
I’m the stig and I’m in my mig
And I’ll snap your time like a twig

I think you’ve seen my show
The stars that come and go
Competing with each other
Round the track they must flow
To set a perfect time
Beat their rivals cross the line
To test their driving skills and
Do their best behind the wheels

Burning rubber at the start
Oh' my heart pounding fast
This adrenalin rushing through
I’m the stig, I’m super cool
Wheels spinning from the line
Tyres’ smoking, it’s a crime
Drifting around these corners
Sliding like skies on waters

Its super cars and silly stuff
Adventurous fun, sometimes tough
I love a challenge, don’t call my bluff
Cuz’ I’m the stig and I do my stuff

I've made a name for myself
Topgear, Topman
In Warsaw Poland do I stand
And yes I'm very well renown
Thirty foot high from the ground
I'm dressed up all in white
With my crash helmet on
I'm just out of sight

A Perfect Storm

It roared in the skies, as friends and foes
ran for their dear lives. The skies were red
and ember, like a hot coal. Everything miles away in the air,
seemed to burn and fall like poorly fixed Christmas lights;
someone coldly joked that the gods were hibernating -
his shirt smelled like firewood mixed with burning rubber.
Long before the storms, wind, water, earth and fire
were celebrated as the elements which brought forth life,
only for the same life to contaminate the four elements
in the labs, with intent of annihilating nations.
Yes, we humans are the said lifeforms -
our thoughts evolved, reaching the stars!
Somehow we got deluded, believing that we were gods
on earth, turning our wheel of fate.
The wheel of fate then turned against humanity,
crashing his ideals, histories and identity
with his own ego....
