Because I have been let down
Because I have been hurt
Because I have walked empty streets in my town
Because to me he’s been curt
I’ve made up my mind to move on
To save my face
To switch off my phone
His memories to efface
Starting all over again
Washing away the sorrow in which I drown
Pining in vain
A new romance to grace the crown
I deserve in all fairness
To hold back tears that from my eyes roll
As I feed on a tasteless meal of sadness
Wrong advice brought about my fall
From grace in disgrace that hurts so bad
Still I love him
Although he drives me mad
Because he’s been so mean
To feed me on humble pie
Wrecking my pride
With a blue lie
That flattery can no longer hide
Making me wonder
Why I should love again
If all I reap is thunder
In a rather unfair bargain
That aches, bakes and shakes
My belief
That wakes
Up when from my life bolts for good a love thief.
Poleaxes for everyone.
Come get yours. Only nine ninety nine.
Hey lady, big sale today! Poleaxes. Only nine ninety nine.
What are they for?
Killing of course.
And I look like a killer?
Under the right circumstances.
What the heck.
It was only $9.99 right?
My good friend Cletus looked mighty spiffy in his new attire.
New suit, shoes, shirt and tie - he was ready to set the world afire
He asked me what I thought about his new duds but I hadn't the heart to say,
That I had donated his entire ensemble to Goodwill just the other day!

I welcome death I'm not afraid
Ten years within this cell I've stayed
My wealth immense a cruel game's been played
Innocent but still a debt it must be paid
For with the Devil I have made a trade
A life of fame and fortune weighed
It seems my selfish nature I obeyed
I watched as all I had was on parade
By truth the jury could not be swayed
Soon in a grave my body will be laid

The Bargain
I was an Angel once
Jealous of mankind
Jealous of their lofty dreams
Their overconfidence
How could they aspire
to such greatness
With so many limitations
Yes I was jealous
For Angels do not know passion
We are sexless creatures
Love is but an idea
Our heart’s have a formless void
We have to many hours
Nothing of note occupies our minds
Sure our Father gave us wings
We possess great strength
We can control the winds
Still we do not have His full favour
That belongs to the humans
What is an Eternity without dreams?
We have no need of sleep
Gluttony has no sway without appetite
I possessed no great ambition
My one purpose
My only purpose
To protect the humans
Those oblivious beings
Even those who did not believe
So dear friend
I made a bargain
Choosing to change places
Him, he always wanted to fly
Eternal life added to the bargain
Fifty years go by so quickly
I did not know about aches and pains
Love and passion were fleeting things
My ambition was blind
Now I am destined to meet my brother
The Angel of Death will come for me
He will not recognize me
For I relinquished my wings.
Walking down a forsaken road will often lead to mourning
Life offers no guarantee of happiness. There is no warning
that in dark places, there lurks a wicked demon, spawning
temptations before us. We should reject him with scorning
Never make a deal with the bird catcher who lies in wait
He'll know your weakness and cast a line with lure and bait
He knows you wear no armor, nor a protective breastplate
impregnable enough to prevent him from sealing your fate
Faust, the fool, sold his soul to the devil in return for power
It was an unwise pact from which any Christian should cower
But the need for greed causes a heart to be cold and dour
unable to repel the diabolical one's angry stare; his glower
Flee from the serpent's talons, close your ears to his flatters
or you will discover your life torn apart in pieces and tatters
Too late to right your wrongs when your whole world shatters
Before bargaining with the devil, think about what matters
Selling your soul will do you in. Sin will lead to your doom
with you trapped in his cage; a burning hell with fiery plume
Don't be like Faust, faltering when choosing power to consume
Turn your back on the wicked beast or live your life in gloom
Stay your hand from signing your soul into the pit of hell
Raise your defenses, unlike greedy Faust, who long ago fell
into the clutches of evil when his integrity he decided to sell
so, the dooms day bell will not be pealing your death knell
A Large House at a Bargain Price
By Elton Camp
It’s off from the busy highway
Making it a quiet place to stay
With two stories and a basement
It’s right for furniture placement
Elegant stairs, the banister too
The house is sure to please you
To buy it quickly will behoove
A place your mother will approve
And see how this sounds:
A business on the grounds
Nosy neighbors no need to fear
Nobody to this place comes near
Contact a Realtor this place to see
All taxidermy items included free
A careful look this house rates

PLEA BARGAIN
If justice can be carted away on a platter of gold
And repaid with a moribund emerald,
Then let Law swallow its loquacious pride—
Let the rays of the sun drop its shines
Let the glitters of the moon hands down
And let the twinkles of the stars un-twinkle its prickles.
At the marketplace of ignominy
Law traded its most valuable destiny—
A penny paid in exchange for quashing mutiny
A hominy given in exchange for shrinking felony
A litany offered in erasure of criminal sanctimony
Mutiny for a penny
Felony for a hominy
Sanctimony for a litany
Justice is the end, the fabrics and destiny of Law
If criminality can be bargained to legality—
A poplar will soon turn an undergrowth
A mountain will soon turn a rock
An ocean will soon turn a river
A tree will soon turn a stalk
An imago to a pupa
A pupa to a larva
A larva to an egg
An egg to an atom
And what is left of Law is a shadow of its true self.
Mutiny for a penny
Felony for a hominy
Sanctimony for a litany

Come
home,
not roam-
stay behind-
my love you'll find.
I am a shopper
That’s what I claim to be
Just look in my closet
And you’ll have to agree
Penney’s, Kohl’s and TJMaxx
Oh, how I wish you didn’t charge tax
You have the power to make my day
I search for a bargain
And never dismay
When I find an aisle
With a good array
I smile and say hooray
This is the way
I like to spend my day

A smashing sound stirs, they “bang the gavel.”
Concessions granted; court begins to unravel.
The eight need votes, an agreement was reached.
Abandoning rightwing values once preached
Tenure, cast it as a repudiation of his failure to lead.
Accusations of advancing policies, this day he’ll heed.
Policies that harm American families and children
What we are really saying is we must stay in power, bewildering.
A twenty first century political leader top level
Thought to have made a deal with the devil.
Backdrop of heckling and mockery from his colleagues
Only good behavior with us, we only hire trusties.
“You’re no martyr!” Shouts from paranoia’s untrusting
Of brokering a “secret” deal, on Ukraine funding
Offered an ominous warning as the House veered toward an ouster.
For broken promises, we shall reckon with the next jouster.
Because he wanted to work for togetherness?
To anyone with a pulse this is senseless
They tabled the vote, why I don’t understand this.
They made no secret of their opinions of this antagonist.
Bemoaned that the House as an institution is broken.
Tears fell and words nevertheless stayed unspoken.
“Elect a speaker that will help us work to pass policies.
That coincide with our beliefs and our monopolies.
That truly support the people of this country!"
Again, spewed so untrue, to help, is elementary.
Ensure we do not come to the brink.
Of another government shutdown I think
Due to disagreement of the budget, it’s greed.
Taking programs away from those in need
Where results are dire, it makes no sense,
Results are disastrous and it is dense.
The Talking Heads request.
Changes inevitable are for the best.
This isn’t a test, "Stop Making Sense!"
Start making corruption end, hence!
A better America will prevail.
Not just another deal with the devil

The shops opening up at downtown, Man
Must hurry up and hurry out
Get out of Woolworth, Brandis, Richman Gormans
With a dollar, I would by twenty dollars of merchandise in them days
And with 45 cents I would by at Safeway a pound rice
That was so nice
Goodwill's second hand stores so much so buy and believes in,
I would so much be achieving
Because I AM a...
BARGAIN BASEMENT SHOPPING DIVA
written by James Edward Lee Sr
From Celebrate: a Collection of Writings about Women
A man named Bill lived on a hill.
He wanted to get gold from the air.
He tried, he tried, he worked and he cried;
but there just waren’t no gold there.
Then came a man who offered his hand
and said “I’ll help you my friend”.
But you must beware, to get gold from the air
your soul comes to me in the end.
The bargain was made, the plans were laid,
soon he took gold from the air.
He prospered that year never shed a tear.
His fame made him so savoir-faire.
Then came a day when that man came his way
he looked for a good place to hide.
It proved no avail, he was carted to Hell
Some folks oft’ ask how he died.
If you wish to be rich, don’t hunt for a pitch
that will doom your soul in the end.
Just be good and true, make people like you
and you will have the great treasure of friends.
