Bad Bargain Made

I welcome death I'm not afraid Ten years within this cell I've stayed My wealth immense a cruel game's been played Innocent but still a debt it must be paid For with the Devil I have made a trade A life of fame and fortune weighed It seems my selfish nature I obeyed I watched as all I had was on parade By truth the jury could not be swayed Soon in a grave my body will be laid Halloween Monorhyme contest October 24th 2017

Hi Richard, this is a creatively wonderful write from your pen. Your words paint a living canvas. Such powerful thoughts displayed. I have had times when I would have made a bargain with the Devil, Instead, I reached out to God and I am glad I did. An amazing work my friend. Has to be a fave. Have a wonderful Friday. Your friend always....Mike.

Not a good thing, when we obey our selfish nature ;) I am not crazy about monorhyme poems, but this is a good one for the contest!

That was a great tale you told in monorhyme, Richard. Sold his soul and even truth can't save him!

Oh Dear....This reminds me of the play Dr Faustus by Christopher Marlowe. We went over that in my literature class. Making deals with the devil only ends in heartache. So happy I know the author of this poem! I know your faith would never allow that, dear. :)

Would be good for the Dark II contest also if monorhyme is judged soon which is very likely. Deals with the devil are a sad, sad thing. Best wishes for this contest also.

Yes! I love Halloween poetry! And yours is full of Halloween treats! I just loved the way you wove that tremendous selfish nature and Devilish trade within this poem! I also liked the way you portrayed that even with fame and fortune life still doesn't improve! What a brilliant piece, Great Work!!
