"A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand"
-- quote by Abe Lincoln

A smashing sound stirs, they “bang the gavel.”
Concessions granted; court begins to unravel.
The eight need votes, an agreement was reached.
Abandoning rightwing values once preached
Tenure, cast it as a repudiation of his failure to lead.
Accusations of advancing policies, this day he’ll heed.
Policies that harm American families and children
What we are really saying is we must stay in power, bewildering.
A twenty first century political leader top level
Thought to have made a deal with the devil.
Backdrop of heckling and mockery from his colleagues
Only good behavior with us, we only hire trusties.
“You’re no martyr!” Shouts from paranoia’s untrusting
Of brokering a “secret” deal, on Ukraine funding
Offered an ominous warning as the House veered toward an ouster.
For broken promises, we shall reckon with the next jouster.
Because he wanted to work for togetherness?
To anyone with a pulse this is senseless
They tabled the vote, why I don’t understand this.
They made no secret of their opinions of this antagonist.
Bemoaned that the House as an institution is broken.
Tears fell and words nevertheless stayed unspoken.
“Elect a speaker that will help us work to pass policies.
That coincide with our beliefs and our monopolies.
That truly support the people of this country!"
Again, spewed so untrue, to help, is elementary.
Ensure we do not come to the brink.
Of another government shutdown I think
Due to disagreement of the budget, it’s greed.
Taking programs away from those in need
Where results are dire, it makes no sense,
Results are disastrous and it is dense.
The Talking Heads request.
Changes inevitable are for the best.
This isn’t a test, "Stop Making Sense!"
Start making corruption end, hence!
A better America will prevail.
Not just another deal with the devil
