When the Sun Sets

When the sun sets, The stars shine with no regrets. Darkness fills the air, The moon gives light with every care. The darkness is easier to walk through, Every light shining is so pure and true. Guidence forever are the stars in the sky, With them we find our places lifted so high. Forever is the moon to cast light upon us all, We become encouraged to stand firm and tall. The stars shine with no regrets, When the sun sets.

When the sun sets, Shining its powerful light it never forgets. Though light fades to darkness, It comes about with alertness. Shadows before the eye can see, The little shining light is enough to set us free. Sometimes we are afraid to walk alone in the dark, From which we were given a caustic remark. Guidance Forever is the changing of dark and light, It helps us to be strong and make one last fight. Forever are the shadows lurking at every turning point, If we give in it is ourselves we disappoint. Shining its powerful light it never forgets, When the sun sets.

When the sun sets, The sky is filled with wonderful colors that the ocean reflects. All the animals of the sea, Come forth creating a musical harmony. The waves crash upon the shore, Washing up new sand to the ocean floor. Its a beautiful site to see, The ocean sounds are calmingly free. Who's to say the ocean isn't peaceful get away, Its a calming place to relax and stay. The sky is filled with wonderful colors that the ocean reflects, When the sun sets.

If no signal fires a mental wasteland blazing passion,
Angelic vibes are only found through third-eye action

You'll feel less discomfort if you're into the ideal aura
Life is not naughtiness, disdain, nihilism, or oxymora

Be selfish, but invest your life in an act that can last
Before ceding to entropy, face qualms and hit aghast

Freedom is to be oneself without asking permission
Be caring and vest a mark—even if it faces suspicion

You are not bound by this body, intellect, or reality
You are unimpeded mental alertness and eternity

Prayer opens the third eye and links one to space
The spine-full mind travels across key psych places

These nodes agape consciousness to cosmic awareness
Divine corridors—yet eons of vacuity obscure fairness

Vipassana is being mindful of this staple life reality
Spirituality aligns, awakens, and merges life's vitality

Assume your previous assumptions proved correct
You learn you agnize less than you thread, in effect

With a third eye wide agaze, one can peer at foresight
When the truth appears, you will find out the real sight

Clear thinking requires the transcendence of cognition,
With a clear mind, hearing, and insight, reach fruition

After profound interior changes, you saw an upheaval,
Lucid dreams disclose our unconscious facts retrieval

Living with other-dimensional groups implies sharing
Your or other people's vitality isn't optimal or bearing

Wildflowers in the desert can survive without water,
They delve deep and trust that the rains will never falter

Altering makes us dance, as our hearts are dazing
This is a path to caring, inner sight, and stargazing.

You don’t have to pitch a tent
Nor build a house to stay
When thousands of us wander desperate
Without a home or place to rest,
You own a house with a magic door,
That opens at will without a key or latch.
Well protected from all wicked wight
Safe from all robbers, rowdies, and rodents

No evil spirits, vampires, or ghouls
Dare to disturb it at any rate
It is stronger than all structures extant
Built-in mortar, bricks, or rocks

You are the monarch of a larger empire.
Land and water are under your sway,
Free to enjoy the treasures of the sea,
And feast on the wonders of the land.

You are a companion to the ravenous shark,
Darting spectres through the azure dark
And also monsters that roam the deep
With their uncouth gambols and abrupt leap

You love strolling along the slimy strands
And dive down along with the laughing waves
You bury your eggs on the sandy shores
And guard your progeny from all snares

You are another name for alertness and caution
You make sure that all around is safe and secure,
Before you come out from your rocky shelter
And shrink back at once when dangers lurk

You carry on your back your home and shelter
Built so compact to guard you from all external threat
Oh! Turtle, we deem you blessed under your carapace
But perhaps you may have a different tale to narrate

For all that we see or seem to see
Aren’t they truths far removed from the truth?

Premium Member Give Me Wings

Give me wings so I can fly;
I want to soar with winging birds up high.

Give me wings so I’ll be free;
my soul longs, to soar with my body.

Give me wings and I will soar,
through universes where, I’ve not been before.

Give me wings to share the air;
to revel with feathered siblings there.

Give me wings of cotton fluff;
feathers light, the air will brush.

Give me wings to lift my spirit;
I cannot stay entrapped and disparate.

Give me wings to spread diversity;
to brush it into every crack and crevice, purposefully.

Give me wings to sweep away the darkness;
and I’ll wing the world to alertness.

Give me wings to release love’s elation;
I will spread it across every nation.

Just for one day...please give me...wings.

City Sparrow

A new dawning
And yawning
Before my eyes clear
I hear
The chirps from the birds
Those pleasing words
As they near my sill
Then a tap with their bill
Busily going about their business
In alertness
Their presents is consoling
As it was time to get rolling
Their sounds seem to blend with modern life
Our daily strife
And I wondered how they could acclimate to their surroundings
How challenging
While ten ton cars rush down the streets
Our city sparrow’s sits and eats
While they are within inches of this fury
Upon the trees they sit with glory
They build their nests in unnoticed places
While our world embraces
And their purpose is clear
For here
They bring cheer
To the city streets

Premium Member A Devotion Poem Fate

A Devotion Poem, FATE
(Written for my husband, Jim)

My beloved and I, with our hearts not only
aligned in love, but also in the empathy and
compassion grown in the fruits of our years
together, in needy as well as hopeful times,
hold in sight each other. Embrace.

At many points death could have come: there
 was his heart attack and then my coma.

We have moved now, side close to side,
into the downstairs living room.
 We have realized and shared that when
one of us is absent (perhaps being hospitalized)
, then there comes a void in the room,
affecting every difficult breath to
feelings of a hanging emptiness
in heart and soul. The walls stand cold
 ...but for God’s comfort, above and near,
 present through our entreaties in prayer. Clutching.

And it is Fate with Faith that keeps those days
of missing each other from yet becoming
days of grieving any final loss.

We walk our days like a pair of massive,
aging elephants with our gray trunks
entwined; so large, the ground quivers
as we journey; and the absence of either one
of us seems to strike hours and poetry
out from the equation of life. Empty.

Since our meeting 40 years ago, to
our present togetherness and alertness
to each other’s needs, I wonder
if it was God’s planned fate for us
to be staying these years
together in His gracing love, helping
us through hard times, sculpting us
with our thanksgings.  Revived.

We live a melody composed
by our omnipotent Lord. It has involved
no random accidents. The lyrics are
concise and rhymed.  There are
many more refrains to sound
before the final note.

Premium Member Falling In Love

Written: April 29, 2024 For Regina Regina Mcintosh Contest

             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meeting her will drown me with her love,
It will express pride and bliss from above.
Her glance involved an ambivalent dream,
Her smile is ambrosian whenever we team.
I will cry with her and soothe her fears,
Lend her comfort and wipe away her tears.
Her love shakes my soul with an auric beat,
Love blooms amid a full moon in aquiver heat.
When I fall in love, I will bestow my all,
It arises during alertness, sleep, or crawl.
As an ariose bloom, I am free in her grasp,
Time slips in her hold, as love vows a clasp.
When I fall in love—I cherish every turn,
Under the pretense of perpetual concern.
With a look and a grin, you had me awed,
Heart fire, in love—descry mist, not flawed
As I fell in love—I will miss her as she left,
In every departure, my heart grows a cleft.
Two souls lost in heavenly love now merge,
Love anew, with each dawn submerge.
The Hunt
Lethal alertness -
Tigers, lions and leopards...
The top-cats stalk their prey with
shoulders hunched high up,
belly low, grazing the grass
Pure survival depends on
deadly awareness -
A stunning sight to behold
A blinding speed rush
A bite to the throat
Yet I put them all to shame
Just me, your housecat…
Footnote: It is generally accepted that today’s ordinary housecats were first domesticated by the ancient Egyptians to control rats, mice and dangerous, venomous snakes in their grain houses, built with woven reed and easily gnawed through
The housecat is by far the most efficient hunter in the cat family…Ever seen one scale a tree when they mean business? I once watched ours and the cat next door chasing each other up and down a tree. It was literally a matter of seconds each way…A squirrel wouldn't have stood a chance
The Torturedcuckcoo
The Tortured Cuckoo
Delivered-bewildered and confused, onto a foliage. No direction from those empowered to parent so  weak a fledgling.   Clawed and pecked for being, an easy release of pent-up frustration upon defenceless creature.
Eat, and be reminded that you never contributed food to the table.  Sleep, but only after the  replayed nightly rants.   Clothe, but only sufficient to cover modesty.  Daily rebuke, for merely existing in this confused environment
.
The mute mother, covered and suppressed by incessant torment.  Offers no more than, ‘Never Mind Love’.  Neighbours  uninterested in the welfare of other flocks say, ‘’He’s always flitting from one nest to another nest’’.
Sister distanced and removed for safety.  Half- sister distanced by umbilical distain for someone not of their father.  Grand parents- indifferent to my presence, unable to give recognition to my mere existence.  Their talons sharpened by others.  Success never acclaimed, but failure always punished.
Then to fly the nest, when devoid of sinews of loving strength and the wombed bedroom never yours to return to in times of need.   When every step taken with ease and encouragement for others, is a thorned briar at every turn for you.
Alertness and deviance become your friends.  Opportunist and far thinking, you build a nest of comforting security- so long denied.  Once a long time featherless,  now wearing full plumage.
The mountains are your refuge, they reciprocate litheness and stealth.   They seek neither intimacy nor show distain.   On these high contours you are the predatory Hawk.  Words unanswered for so long are replaced by ‘thoughts and dreams’ that dance upon the wind!!!.
Looking Ahead
Resolutions should give voice to hope
when reason gets beyond all the trope.
Reckoning ahead to energize
I resolve to get more exercise:
       physical fitness
       mental alertness
       spiritual, more praying
       social, more playing
       emotional, less stress
Looking inward to 2-0-2-2.
a more intentional me for You
Resolutions help us get onboard
to glorify our Almighty Lord.
DANCE, DANCE, DANCE
              What’s that?... You have two left feet.
                      We heard that many times.
                    Why just sit there and watch?
                  How can we change your mind?
               Of course, nobody has two left feet.
              What is so hard in moving your feet?
                 Left, right, left, right for the men,
               right, left, right, left for the women.
                  Come on, it just like marching.
                    You should be dancing, yes!
               If you have not done so, start now.
             Dancing is the best exercise, it’s fun.
                    It involves body and mind.
                    Dancing moves your body.
               It challenges your mind to learn
                movements, steps or patterns.
             It also encourages you to socialize
                 for it connects you to others.
                  Dancing makes you sweat
                and helps you reduce weight
             for it’s similar to cardio exercise;
           but a more subtle form of exercise.
               Dancing is gentle to your body,
   yet, it enhances your motor fitness or mobility,
  improves your balance, increases your flexibility
                    and you develop agility.
            Dancing promotes stronger bones,
          tones and strengthens your muscles,
           aids your blood flow and circulation,
                   raises your endurance.
         Dancing is good for your coordination,
         your lungs, your heart, your emotion.
            It gives you vibrancy and energy
               as well as a better memory.
  Dancing increases your cognitive performance
             for you gain mental alertness.
             It uplifts you and inspires you
                  to develop friendships.
     Wouldn’t you rather be having fun dancing
 than put your body through a rigorous exercise?
         You attain the same physical benefits;
           you also acquire cognitive benefits.
         You should be dancing, dancing, yeah…
for it’s easier on your body and better for your mind.
The Lighthouse
Alone on the cliff edge it stays
Dominant and silent but also mysterious in many ways.
The navigator, emitting light to guide in darkness
It's brightness, it's alertness stops this.
It's eyes pierce through the nights sky
Creating a beautiful horizon
A tear to a sailor's eye.
For the lighthouse is comfortable alone
The reason it's made the cliff it's home.
It's stands on the cliff edge
Not of torment, wanting to descend
But a figure so bright, so immortal
That on the cliff edge it will forever ascend.
See, Listen
I prey on your principles, with a thick claw stabbing through the bone,
Into the soft recesses below the layers of hardened counterfeit
I feast on your innards before you know I exist,
And when the emptiness hits,
Your judgement does hiss
I cross the coals with chilled alertness,
Fire burning into the soles I have licked
They clobber onto me till I see stars
And I wait till their fiery suns die in their pique of agony
I see you for who you are, bare skeleton,
With no more eyes to see,
And no more ears to hear
I see you for what you were always destined to be—
Powdered bones in the wasteland of Forgotten
And as your returned dust does blow through hot, whimpering winds
I take your condemnatory eyes,
And your crooked ears,
And I profess loudly to the nether land,
“No soul shall rest upon here!”
