Out of the Mouth of Babes

A five-year old precocious daughter 
asked her daddy where rabbits lived.  
To impress her, he straightway said: 
“In the ground in borrows, love.”

The little girl looked puzzled.
“Are you sure,” she said, “or is this just
another adult fabrication like
Santa Clause or the birth stork?” 

Dumbfounded by her response 
and eager to recover from his 
embarrassment,

toddler blurted out
“look Grandma, there‘s his willy”
I burst out laughing!

Through The Eyes Of Babes

Filtering through the empty broken balconies along the rivieras
are the waning cacophonies echoing monotonous songs, 
“Merciless they are to us at the breaking of dawn”
Where life once thrived, we arrived in the city called the strip, 
an open-air prison, an amphitheater without any spectators           

Babes In Arms

Two friends would speak one summer night,
Trapped then in gossip’s throes;
But just one turned toward the light,
Or so the story goes.
 
The first would breathe the summer air
But on his friend’s face see
His friend did not the same way care;
It was not meant to be.
 
They were not men, but babes, in arms
And so with

Babes of All Creatures

Babes of all creatures
Gather divinely.
A oneness, pulls each to each in.
Gentle and guile-free.

Infant, with the cubs
Lion, fox; endear.
Playful tussling. Nothing yet
Of the fierce to fear.

Babes of Scorpio

Winter alights on a carpet of white,
in a glistening gown of ice and snow.
She arrives as migrating geese take flight
and blustery breezes begin to blow,
to the delight of babes of Scorpio.

Snowflakes cover Fall's dead in a white shroud,
burying the streets until they get plowed
and shutting down all but Nature's playground.
As a cloudless blue sky gives

Camel Went Ape For the Babes

Intrepid camel, name of ibn Shlumpf
Romantic alias ~ Abdullah Heffalumpf
  He went ape for the babes, this
  Dromedary of all trades
He just wished he could get over their humphs

Big Blasts For Babes

A big blast in baggy boisterous hearts
As a charismatic charming chap I chant choruses
Seeing sisal spinning splendid systematic samples
Taken, I mask mistakes making massive moves
I divert, ditch disrepute in disputed dating dates

Shafts of shame shackled short lived shining
Bestowing beasts bearing bulky burdens
Tearing love tags tapped to the tail.
Growing grief gets God giving good gifts!

Realistic remorseful

Motherless

I wake in sweats
Drenched in the regrets
Of a desert womb
This empty tomb
Where lie the never born
Whom I may never mourn
Never mourn this constant lack
That has me forever in deepest black
Never sit and talk beside their graves
For I can never bury the bodiless babes
Never sit and silently pray
For what dies inside me every day.

She said intently

Many things that are not

Took my five-year-old daughter to the office 
On “Take Your Child To Work Day” being cautious
“But daddy, you said
There'd be clowns here”
Poor daddy turned red and became short of oxygen

Babes Everywhere

There once was a minister so meek
His sole desire, the Lord for to seek --
   Despite babes everywhere
   Never once did he stare --
He just grinned, then turned her other cheek

Mummy mummy,
I’ve just overheard daddy say something so silly
He was shouting on the phone at our Uncle Billy
I’m sure he told Billy to ‘shut the duck up’
Daddy must be confused... Billy’s got a new pup!
