Magnificent life
                                 Wondrous feeling of babes love
                                      Nestle between breasts

From the Mouth of Babes

Just the other day
So out of the blue
My granddaughter says
I have a secret to tell you

With a pensive look
She blurted out
I have evil inside of me
Said with a factual pout

Why do you think that
I question gently
It's transferred from my doll
She said intently

Your brain can make you think
Many things that are not true
Show me your doll
I will examine her for you

I said, you are not evil
Your imagination is very strong
I should not have told you grandma
I'm right and you are wrong

With a little huff
She scampered away
Left me with a smile
And some dismay

Babes

My lil keeper of my heart,
Oh how I loved her from
                                              the start,
                                         and from that day our
                                          souls shall never part.
                                         She's my joy, She's my
                                                     pride
                                         Always together side by side,
                                         Through thick and thin and
                                             sadness within,
                                          She's always there
                                            My Best Friend,
                                         she's my protector of the
                                                night,
                                         she wakes me with love
                                          in the morning light,
                                        She's my world , she's my girl
my itty bitty brown ball of fur,
with her eyes that sparkle bright
especially when I hold her so tight,
She's my joy, She brings such
                                                         a delight
I love her more than the stars
                                                        at night.
When I'm down with no one
                                                         around
She turns my frown upside down,
She's my dog , She's my Best Friend
                                           Together Forever Until the
                                                        End.

“Halloween Babes”

Innocent Angels
Prowl darken streets, seek sweet treats
Human evil seeks…

This pure Love of heart
Unaware what evil lurks
In human dark souls…

Just another child
Bites the dust of human lust’s
Illusions of ghouls…

Filtering through the empty broken balconies along the rivieras
are the waning cacophonies echoing monotonous songs,
“Merciless they are to us at the breaking of dawn”
Where life once thrived, we arrived in the city called the strip,
an open-air prison, an amphitheater without any spectators
insight, although the world is watching
We trudge onto yet another camp
The sun brings nothing, not anything more than light
that shines upon a smokey sky
I see more of nothingness, space, void, rubble
Everything is foreign and everyone has changed
All are cold, scared, and hungry, we walk aimlessly
In the hands of anyone unknowing if he or she's sane
There is so much fear, I am no longer safe
A new reality has come upon me
To the smell of death should I adapt?
A new day has dawned, morning has broken
Echoes pick up murmurs of others tears long spent
sifting through these ruins where I hide
Unattended unattached, no time for a sigh,
cry, or yawn, I am zombie like
The unrest of the last night has begun again
The recent blood red scenes now past
Yesterday's echoes filter one more reality
Will it be me today?

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Out of the mouths of babes
Words of wisdom are spoken
Don’t make a promise you cannot keep
They’ll remind you a promise is broken

Despite having little minds
I have to date not met
A toddler who when given a promise
Will simply just forget

I’ll say “I’ll play with you tomorrow”
The reply “you said that yesterday,
So you must come and play with me,
Tomorrow is now today”

“Grandad, will you play with me”
I reply “sorry I haven’t the time”
“It’s alright Grandad, I have.
It’s almost half past nine”

“Sorry Grandad really can’t.
Grandad is very tired”
That’s when I got my marching orders
When told “Grandad, you’re boring, you’re FIRED”

Why must our beloved dogs' lives end much sooner than our own?
It feels like they are no sooner here and then they are gone.
"I know why," a child innocently told me outright.
"People are born so they can learn how to live a good life,
like loving everbody and being nice, right?
Well dogs already do that," the child went on,
"so they don't have to stay here for very long."

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Grandma, the little girl said
Where do we go when we’re dead?
We go with God up in heaven
She told the young girl of seven
And gently patted the top of her head.

Then my goldfish who died I can say
Is with God up in heaven today
            Little brother yelled no
             I know that ain’t so
Cause I saw mommy flush him away!

Out of the Mouth of Babes

Nobody’s made me out a fool
Like three year olds in Sunday School.
One day I thought I’d sound real wise
And asked, “Who here likes butterflies?”

All hands shot quickly to the sky,
“I saw a yellow butterfly!”
“They eat the nectar from the flowers.”
These kids, I swear, had super powers!

“Bees turn nectar into honey,
The bee guy sells it for his money!”
“My cousin’s mom got stung last week!”
“But honey’s good, its really sweet!”

“Chocolate’s sweet, it causes wrecks!”
“Mama says its better than sex!”
“Six is my favorite number today!
Today’s my cousin’s sixth birthday!”

Like butterflies from flower to flower
Their comments wandered for an hour
From butterflies and honey bees
To birds and squirrels in the trees.

Then Airplanes, clouds and astronauts.
“And ants live in the parking lot!”
I’ve been to college; three degrees!
Sometimes I wish that I were three.

Child hood
Out of the mouths of babes

Comes a wisdom, a knowing.
Sometimes getting lost in a rage
of ever changing, ever growing.
That desire less journey into age,

where they will seldom be showing
that wisdom of innocent childhood
lost in aging of the soul, lost in wood.
Seldom able, - getting passed - stiff as a board.

Knowing, wisdom, freedom is lost to ones memory’s hoard
as they become ingrained, incorporated into daily life.
As those who would have innocence cut off with a knife,
assimilated into parents, teachers, peers, lovers and bosses.

Innocence, wisdom, subconscious knowledge suffers losses.
What was all these things, in living childhood,
become in adulthood, unacceptable qualities - not good
and so, sheep now stand were childhood once stood.

The emergency call reached the paramedic. A baby was about to be born.
He could hardly see through his windshield, as he battled the raging storm.
A 3 year old girl greeted him at the doorway and allowed him to enter her home.
She took him by the hand and said, "This way doctor man,"
and then led him to her Mommy's room.
It was a very dark night, so he asked the child to hold his flashlight
so he could assist the baby from leaving its mother's womb.
He held the baby by its legs and spanked its little bottom.
The baby cried and a new life was born.
With great concern the paramedic asked the young child,
"How do you feel about what you just saw?"
"He should have never crawled up there in the first place," she said,
"You should spank him again once more."

************************************************************************

I received the above in a Fwd: Email.
It was written in the form of a joke.
I then revised it poetically,
at least that is my hope.

Fwd: Childbirth

Subject: Childbirth thru the eyes of a child
             Should a Child Witness Childbirth?
                     Here's your answer.

Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house
was very dark so the paramedic asked Kathleen, a 3-yr old girl to hold a
flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the
baby.
Very diligently, Kathleen did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed
and after a little while, Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his
little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The
paramedic then thanked Kathleen for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-yr
old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Kathleen quickly responded, 'He shouldn't have crawled in there in the
first place........spank his butt again!'

Lies From the Mouths of Babes

I say i don't care about you...
i lied.
I say he isn't on my mind...
i lied.
I say i moved on...
i lied.
I say i love you...
i lied.
I say that i'm okay...
i lied.
I say that i'm an adult...
i lied.
I say i'm ready...
i lied.
I say that i'm happy...
i lied.
I say i don't need you...
I lied.
I lied to you and...
you believed
