Annoyances Poems | Examples

Itch

I itch at night; at night I itch,
Although for pain, I would not switch.
My brain, I guess, contains a glitch
So I can’t sleep without a hitch.

On TV ads I saw a pitch
For medicine – can’t think of which –
But that idea I chose to ditch
So I’ll get by, but life’s a…..bunch of annoyances!

Things That Offend
Miracle Man
3/5 2025

At eight o’clock sharp our telephone starts ringing,
Medicare telemarketers can drive us nuts.
Seven calls daily keeps both of our hands wringing,
seeking information from some elderly klutz.

Then charitable letters from some we’ve aided,
are reaching out to us concerning our estate.
This causes some feelings of being degraded,
we’re only a name and number whose time grows late.

But these annoyances are just another life test,
that keeps both eyes and our thoughts focused on the cross.
It reminds us daily we’re here to do our best,
without letting these things become our albatross.

Sixteen

They rolled him into the ambulance,
feet drumming weakly on the steel gurney.

He was undoubtedly an impatient man.
Some claimed
that he had once (in a fit of pique),
thrown his cell-phone off a bridge.

Today an automated voice had said:
‘his call was very important’ --- but
sixteen were ahead of him;
after fifteen long minutes he lost the connection.

Then it was that he took a kitchen knife
and stabbed his noisy neighbor
who had bugged him all year.
Fearing incarceration
and having no reason not to,
he cut his own wrists.

It’s the little things that inflame;
the oft repeated annoyances.
After fifteen maddening scratches
a persistent itch can turn murderous

Balancing Act

Annoyances add up so fast
That sometimes you might be aghast
When life does prolong
All the things going wrong
And your stress level can’t be surpassed.

For somehow when nits multiply,
Even calm people cannot deny
That each problem presents
Such a knot that prevents
Peace of mind and I’d like to know why.

I guess life’s a balancing act
And the odds against joy have been stacked.
If you’re happy one day
It gets taken away;
That’s a guaranteed bona fide fact.

Premium Member On Being Nosy

What is it to me if
The teenage girl next door
Leaves on a date dressed up
Like a downtown whore?
If her brother wears his cap
With the bill in the back
And their father drives up
In a ratty old hearse Cadillac?
Why do I let the smallest
Things annoy me so?
I think I would move away
If I had some place to go.

What Taylor Sang

You are blue
And hopeful for new
Remember what Taylor sang
When she said “Begin Again”*

Now you met him
Such a difference
From paying your penances
For all the ex’s annoyances

How wonderful is appreciation
Without qualification
Forget the last guy’s negativity
About your creativity

Now you know one who likes
All your quirks and your vibes
Gets all your laughs
Doesn’t ask for polygraphs

How were you so mismatched
With that guy from the past
All those years that went under
While you missed out on wonder

Chalk it up to bad judgement
And forget all those contests
Tried to prove you had love
To one who only knew shove

Enjoy this sweet time
You’ve found one who chimes
We learn from our pasts
It gives us a map

To chart new courses
And fight off bad forces
Point your sail to good waters
Collect the best now from others

Prayer Time
Written: by Miracle Man
September 18, 2020

We arise each morning feeling rushed,
always running late, face feeling flushed.
We take no time, for God and prayer,
then wonder why days are filled with despair.
If we’ll seek God’s direction for our day,
we’ll see petty annoyances melt away.
Life’s treadmill no longer has us feeling confused,
and we find lot's of our time we’ve misused.
At dusk, should we question where our time went,
remember, time spent in prayer was time well spent.

Staying Focused

God said, keep yourselves, ready for action,
always staying focused on the chore ahead.
When I let annoyances steal my traction,
the door is ajar for Satan’s entry instead.

No matter what annoyances come my way,
when focused on the task ahead I’ll find.
Irregardless of what my friends may do or say,
each battle always begins within my mind.

Today’s prayer

Tom

Lord,
This prayer is for the haters, Intent on having their say
Convict their hearts In a special way
For the sinister, Who take pleasure in taking a life
Earlier this week it was a gun, This morning it was a knife
And for those who feel the need to “race bait” today
Let them get their attention in some other way
Lift their thoughts above, Cause them to see you
Give each a desire, to speak Of things which are true
Remember life’s downtrodden Let me never forget
And for political annoyances Which we’re beset
For our Country’s future Which sometimes looks bleak
But primarily Lord,
Today, cause our leaders to think Before they speak
Amen

Morning has lingered stirring a hapless feeling,
Petty annoyances have stifled my train of thought.
Cerebration didn’t render what my pen found appealing,
And without fuel for the fire, my effort was for naught.

Do you know what really bugs me the most
Banana strings, banana strings, damn things are gross
They have no purpose
Not in my esophagus
Just one of life's damn annoyances I suppose

Arrrg-So Annoying

Seriously, another selfie for you?
So embarrassing, so petty and vain.
Flip that hair once again, I’m through!
Smack those lips and you’ll be in pain!

How about the car cell phone users?
No turn signal used or paying attention.
Such distractions for all these losers,
so many more issues I won’t mention.

Oh, the worst to me is just this,
the one who contradicts what you say.
Every word is opposed with a dis,
disagreeing and disputing in disarray!

These are my “Pet Hates” I feel with ease-
may my annoyances crumble and cease.

Premium Member Drag Me Along

As speckled trout jump in dawn's early light
I cast a fly to whet their appetite.
And flick my rod, stripping line from the reel
causing hungry fish to lunge for a meal.

A cold river current gives rise to mist
but all such annoyances are soon dismissed.
For I hook a fish that's wild and headstrong
and it attempts to drag me along.

It’s Been So Long
Since life Was Fun
7-28-2016

Occasionally I hit stretches in life,
That appears as one continual storm.
Each morning when the sun comes up,
Is another crisis far from the norm.

I pray while attempting to adapt,
Trying not to breakdown, but just bend;
The phone is continuously ringing,
With problems which we must contend;

We no longer have time for ourselves,
This, for me, has long been a concern.
These little annoyances are taking a toll,
And aging has become life’s downturn.
