Premium Member An Ode to My Brain

As memory fades with advancing age
and movements become sluggish,
I welcome the sedate pace of my life –
affording me time to savour each moment,
as every single one becomes precious.
Recall is tainted, like hues of autumn leaves –
fertile ground for mending broken fences,
as facts no longer serve their purpose.
Till the day the body’s command centre
shuts down for a well-earned rest.

To Splurge

Everybody has the urge,
And, though it may be rare, to splurge,
For sometimes needs and wants converge
And giving in’s rewarding.

We’ll treat ourselves to different things,
Depending on the joy it brings,
Despite the fact that certain flings
Are past what we’re affording.

Yet it may still be worth our while
To spend on what will make us smile,
Since there are times to live in style,
But not go overboarding.

Augusts turn

I saw you
tip toe through the change
Unflatteringly and seamlessly
You turned from Summer to August
The forebode was bothered
I was sleeveless until you found me
That Tempest wind
with its own perilous sermonizing

The dull fruits were harbingers
from another's basket
Clumps of tenderized grass
ebbing in its lost impress
You scoffed at me
whilst I unwelcomed you
Ill affording me
in the ruffled cross hairs
of spite

Manifestation

Foremost apex bird leading the flock flight
United to run the race and fight the fight
Apache, Comanche, Samurai, knight
Choosing to keep victory in mind and sight
Tearing through the darkness till we behold light
March by day, sojourn by night
And because we solely rest upon God’s might
Only being head and not tail feels right

Bracing the weather, weathering the storm
We give and take as we take form
Change is our preserve as we preserve righteous norm
Moment’s heat in a cold world somehow feels warm
As happenings and deeds feed how our deeds perform
In life’s seesaw arena we sow to see what will blossom
From middles and ends, we claim the whole portion by portion
We mark and eke out our ideals and a nation

Advancing, withstanding and wearing off resistance
With passion, conviction and insistence
Feeding on virtue and denying sin any dalliance
Overcoming evil with good and rebellion with reverence
Fruitfulness ousts empty occupation and nonchalance
And so we emerge from the dull trenches with a radiance
With a baffling lustre, poise and stance
Affording a gaze where we couldn’t beg a glance

Old Promises 2019

Bright young things
the class of 2019
Tories with their fresh rosettes
they said they could level up the Red Wall
now bide their time to forgotten promises
in their brazen suites
lost chance saloon in a cavalier fashion
ill affording suffragette society
look at them in their run in
Labour ushers a bravo return,
The Reform party
picks up on the crumbs
of discontent

Premium Member A Child of Light

a solivagant by nature
the need for acceptance grew
hot tears pooled
a phenomenal resilience
affording solace to others
impressive psyche tooled
esperance is the driving force
behind your enigmatic smile
in hiding betrayal you’re well schooled

Further Off

Oh wife of mine
might I meet you
Might we
Might we

She a beautiful woman
with her own atmospheric
precance.
A charming glory of fondness
and glamour

As subtle as rain
and brash as the sea
a refreshing drink of water
Lady you
are too me
Ode to Love
I thank God your mine

Yielding to My Lovers Needs
She then more than eager
 to yield to mine
complaints or favors
affording time
to be together
times Lovers should treasure

Premium Member Small Life

There are killings,
suffocation in gullet
hell holes, decapitations
by mandibles stalking in shadows,
death pits at the bottom
of slippery throated flowers
and racked on a web,
a struggling moth
slowly turning into soup.

My garden is a slaughter
field littered with the leftovers
from deadly feasts.
And the victims….what
of their inaudible cries,
the screams broadcast
on wavelengths beyond
my ear. Do they plead
for mercy, feel pain
register in whatever
rudimentary brain animates
their brief lives.

Help me ! Please help me !
does the moth cry,
feeling the spiders fangs
penetrate and pump poison
into its trussed body.
Or do I give such
small life undue significance
affording it compassion
when it should be exempt.
But where's the line ?
Size ?
Its propensity for domestication,
its rank on an arbitrary scale ?

The perfumed beauty
of a single flower diverts
the senses and disconnects
attention to the suffering
of small things.
We are blissfully unaware.
Does anyone hear them,
does anyone care,
or does life's little screams
fall into an uncaring nothingness
and if so, then what of our own.

Premium Member Scapegoat

Leviticus 16:10 (KJV) But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

Jesus, the scapegoat for all the world, the reason I know hope, faith and love, the beauty that lasts and never ages… His is a timeless love, infinite and blessed, the best gift ever given, the present that would never stop being amazing, wonderful, beautiful and treasured. He is the blessing that pours light into our hearts, reflecting the wonder of His pure, sweet love!

Silent, without protest
Carrying the weight of the world
Aware that He is sinless - innocent
Providing a way for souls to avoid
Eternity in hell, where they’ll know
Everlasting sorrow, despair, darkness
Grace from the One who is love
Overpowering the fears and tears
Affording the heart repentance
Taking away sins with deliverance

He is the scapegoat who sings grace to the world!

Weepy and willowy
   purple and greening…

Green and purpling vines,
Landowners between the lines.
Beyond the willowing pines,
Spring’s surplusity sublime.

Weepy and willowy
   purple and greening…

Conifers a leap, in front of creek,
reminiscent-flooding was not meek.
Caught in my wide eye that week —
the bubbling serendipitous freak.

Weepy and willowy
   purple and greening…

Wraparound fence a lá wisteria blooms.
Honey and carpenter bees, hornets zoom,
‘round about its heady-cocktail’d perfume.
All aboard the buzz of springtide costume.

      Weepy and willowy
   purple and greening
Spring is a-leaping and lording
raising a poet’s pulse, an unpreventable affording
of contentment—
  sickness of singing feathers, courting
     unforgettable fetters
        of magical colors, supporting

one’s cause for rhyming
   hypnotic, its timing…

Forget transition, just certify, "with dangerous to others" he's qualified. Donald Trump you know it's true, this is what Congress needs to do, and they'll be republicans there, just like you. It will be a non-tweeting zone, as they'll probably take your phone. A place away from White House stress, affording our country a much needed rest. Time for you to quietly reflect on this legacy that you've left, and yes they may alter your brain chemistry but you'll still make history. Donald, we've had just enough, so please go quietly before they cuff.

Coffee Snob

Coffee Snob

Here I am, the Coffee Snob
Whether with a Rich Tea or a Hobnob
Carrot cake is made so much more rewarding
With a coffee that needs more affording

Weak and white and milky and pale
Might as well dunk in a biscuit so stale
For coffee should taste like coffee should taste
Otherwise it’s a God awful waste

Rich and fruity or strong and biting
Flavour is important, that’s what I’m writing
Caffeine firing my senses to function
See me through the morning till I take luncheon

So take away your weak milky brew
Bring my own coffee, that’s what I’ll do
I need a hot drink that will embellish my brain
Anything less should go down the drain!

Deep inside my past did stir
  against the present's whirlwind blur
No picture, story or recording
  could match its poignance, affording

me a veil to lift, to uncover
a past well lived, my secret lover

One More Thing

3/25/19
"One More Thing"

This morning
Clouds forming
Soon to be storming

Most ignoring
The warning
Continually warring

Waters forking
Rapids roaring
Avians soaring
As events continue coursing

Heard enough recordings
That were reporting
About global warming

Whether it's sunny or pouring
Cold or scorching
Dogs and cats arrive for boarding
In a building with tile flooring

Bottles uncorking
This life isn't boring
It's rewarding

This world, we're still exploring
Organisms morphing
Meanwhile plants absorbing
The sunlight, that's supporting
All life, according
To people and other sourcing's

Barely affording
Folks snoring
Out of the loop, close and far from any cording

Drugs and people used for transporting
Still gorging
Battling addictions regarding snorting

Far too many hoarding
And overstoring
Thinking they're scoring

Any bull, I'm thwarting
The honest and hard working, I'm supporting
You better stop lording
Before the public starts swarming

About to leave this world, after one more thing
