Notes About The Poem

An Ode to My Brain

As memory fades with advancing age
and movements become sluggish,
I welcome the sedate pace of my life –
affording me time to savour each moment,
as every single one becomes precious.
Recall is tainted, like hues of autumn leaves –
fertile ground for mending broken fences,
as facts no longer serve their purpose.
Till the day the body’s command centre
shuts down for a well-earned rest.

To recall becomes harder with age and certain facts no longer serve their purpose… Still we kiss our brains! Congrats!

Had to edit what I commented. I saw another poet's name before commenting and was thinking this belonged to that poet. So if you saw that before I corrected it, that's why.

Thanks, Karen. My list of N/As is rather impressive - I could do with a bit of a boost. Keeping fingers crossed. ;)
