STEPHANIE DESHPANDE WINNERS-- HER BLOG IS UP -- THIS IS AWESOME - Cyndi Macmillan's Blog

About Cyndi Macmillan

Cyndi MacMillan lives in a small town in Ontario that is home to North America’s largest working waterwheel. Her writing has appeared in notable Canadian literary journals and local newspapers.

A Cruel Light is her debut gothic mystery (4/4/2023). She has been a Jill-of-all-trades, but for as long as she can remember, she has dreamt of being a novelist.  Hard work and the wonderful team at Crooked Lane Books have made that dream a reality.  Please note that her husband and daughter kindly keep her coffee mug filled when she is wrestling with a suspenseful chapter.   During a pandemic lockdown, the family adopted a rescue cat who chirps.

When not writing, Cyndi enjoys reading Gothics, scrapbooking, and losing horribly at board games.  Works-in-progress include the second (and third) Annora Garde Mystery, a Canadian noir series, and a standalone horror mystery, so more often than not, Cyndi is writing.  She is a member of Crime Writers of Canada.

SARK how to be an artist

I could not be more excited.

Okay, everyone, please click on this link...

http://www.stephaniedeshpande.com/contemporary-free-rhyme-poetry-contest/

Stephanie Deshpande has put the blog up about the contest

here at Poetrysoup which I sponsored

AND AND AND has posted the winners list

ON HER AWESOME SITE AND AND AND

she has included a link to all the winners’ poems!

People who read her blog, fans who have purchased her art,

will be able to connect your words to her art.

I think this is huge!

Honestly, I am floating on the ceiling!

There is so much to learn here, from this.

I have harped on this since I joined Soup three years ago: artists of all mediums need to reach out and support the creative process, in whatever way they are able... whether that be by checking out the local theatre group, going to a CD launch or attending the opening ceremony at a gallery

Art, in every form, is alive and well!

Poetry is being written and read around the world. BUT, if we focus on the poetry of yesterday, we will not reach todays poets nor will we understand the direction poetry is taking. The past deserves to be studied and appreciated; all those beauties must not be lost, must be preserved, but if you haven’t opened a book of poetry written after 1980, if you do not explore the verses being published in THIS decade, I mean OUTSIDE of Soup, then you are missing a real opportunity to grow AND connect.

Keep true to your voice, your style.

And let inspiration move you.

Hugs and Love,

Cyndi, who is on cloud 9!

SECOND, please note that she will be posting additional blogs with YOUR POEMS posted below the painting that inspired your words! So dazzling, her taking time out of her busy life as mom and artist. SHE IS A POET, TOO. And so she was moved that she inspired others to write verse. I'm still in a fog. Poetry moves people in the most mysterious and wonderful way. If I can share that kind of mindset, that HOPE, with my daughter, instil in her a belief that art is more than entertainment but a form of COMMUNION, then I have done my job. From my fingers to God's ears. Amen.

Hello you!
Date: 2/27/2014 1:44:00 PM
Hey all, Well, FIRST, I gotta say how EMBARASSING it was as a judge to shut out an entry actually penned by the artist herself. Yeah. The irony is not wasted on me. SHEESH! In most contests, I say that there guidelines but that, if a poem delights me, those that stray from those guidelines may still place. I was more heavy handed with this contest, GO FIGURE! And Stephanie's entry was very well written, metaphoric and layered, but contained no rhyme. I actually bit my lips wondering what to do when I read it for the FIFTEENTH time... I chose to not place it, even though it is very very good. Serves me right. I need to follow instinct. I've been poo-pooed by some for playing too loose, being a "soft" judge. Well, lol, look what happened when I tried on a different hat and DIDN'T listen to myself? Never again. I will go back to judging my way, running contests my way. Thank GOODNESS that Stephanie is kind, has a sense of humour and is humble. Man, I am so fortunate to have run this contest and get the chance to communicate with this incredibly spirited woman. We've been chatting through emails... I will not share her poem, that is up to her!!! I respect privacy, whenever I can! More to follow...

This is exciting and wonderful Cyndi!! Art in all forms, is connected by the spirit of creating. When I read a poem, I see a painting, and hear music, while reading the lyrics....... it is all wrapped up together in a beautiful package. Thank you for letting us know!

i sooo agree with you, Carrie...writing isn't just about creating lines and figurative scenes...it's like you're dancing and singing at the same time everytime you read it...cries and laugh about it....everything in art is like a magic!!!! ..

This truly is an honor to be included in her blog. Thanks so much for helping to make it happen by sponsoring the contest for us to get to know her work. I read her blog and liked very much the other artist that she blogged about beneath her showing of your winners' list. Definitely an awesome thing!! And she had even entered your contest?? Gosh, I need to check this out!!
