Contest Description

I first sponsored this contest back in 2019. Click on the link to see the 2019 Contest results.

After 5 years it’s time to give it another go.

What to Submit?  (Please carefully follow the 4 items listed.)

  1. One original, poem on any theme.  The theme must be consistent throughout the entire hybrid poem. NEW POEMS only.
  2. Selected form must be Clerihew, but your poem must incorporate the Clerimerick Couplets form, which is a hybrid form composed of a Clerihew, followed by a Limerick, followed by two rhyming couplets, in that order.  The chosen theme must be consistent throughout the entire hybrid poem.
  3. To place higher in this contest, please give attention to the definition of the Clerihew, which can be found in PS under the menu item - Types of Poems: “The end of the first line of a true Clerihew poem will only consist of the subject’s name. The purpose of this is to show the skill in being able to rhyme difficult names.
  4. Only the poem should go in the poetry text box. Do not put your name, poet notes, or any other information—including quotes or audio file of your recited poem—in the same text box where you enter your poem.

Three examples of the Clerimerick Couplets form are as follows:
