Renowned poet Charles Lamb, Was gentle like a lamb. He took care of Mary, his sis, Who drove him crazy when her sanity was amiss. In a mad fit of irrational rage, Mary took her poor mother's life and age. They were thus orphaned. Their life was darkened. Lamb, taking sister's charge turned a new page. Charles Lamb and Mary were together though an odd pair. Lamb stayed gentle, but Mary was at times like a bear. They collaborated together in an ambitious literary pursuit. Unfortunately, marriage, both the brother and sister did boot.

A nice sad story. Did she ever come to forgive herself for what she did? Even in madness, there's a bit of sanity. Lambs are nice to a fault sometimes and Charles was a good brother, he loved Mary regardless of her wrongs. We mostly get this kind of unending love only from Christ. Cheers.

I need to look these two up. I guess with his sister murdering their mom, he thought maybe genetics and thought it better to not marry. Thanks for sharing this one and information with us. Sara K

How tragic is that, his sister in a fit of rage took her mothers life and age! Thats sad, and its never easy being a loved one of someone that is in need of special care. And charles seems to have not given up on his sister, iv never heard of them or read about them so this was intriguing and insightful also . Youv written very well dear sweet valsa! Pleasure always reading your work: best wishes for the contest too! I think youv delivered something different for this theme

A High school lesson was on Charles Lamb"s thesis about writing on the bedroom ceiling. I liked it and got up early for one or two mornings. Your poem is a valuable vignette of history. Lamb can be commended for taking care of his sister. This was nice to read.
