Nelson Mandela by most accounts was quite a fella. But sometimes he was dissed and dismissed, said to be a card-carrying Communist. Nelson Mandela fought segregation in South Africa, his beloved nation. With keen awareness, and a great sense of fairness, he encouraged reconciliation. With characteristic robustness, he was a champion of social justice; and as the events of his long life unfurled, he became a hero for all the world.
