I don't know if anyone here is a soccer fan. I am a biggest fan, if you may ask. Anyway, could anyone predict who is going to lift the trophy? Anyone? which region? maybe africa...j/k Well, for me, I am not a big fan of any African teams, but they are really improving. Rather than that, Spain is on the trophy...

I actually grew in a private school where they played soccer instead of football and played in several adult leagues later...most Americans don't appreciate it because of the low scoring (3-0 is a blowout!) or maybe because they are still unfamiliar with the game as a rule...I love the style of play of the South American teams. I think Pele is still the greatest player who ever stepped onto the field...Maradona maybe second (remember his 'Goal of the Century?') - Tim

USA is gonna beat Spain in the finals 14-3. I covered the last World Cup as a sports journalist for a military paper in Germany. Wuerzburg. Where the World Cup was. I was the s$@&!, man! I saw some stuff. Anyway, most of the teams involved in the World Cup will mysteriously succumb to a virus that makes them just mildly lethargic for 2 months, and the USA, free of this virus because they're true-blooded Americans (virus-free blood), stomp over the competition in a long anti-climactic escapade. And thats the doggone truth.

i predict that this world cup will go to england. with the sights of the news scandals about english players this should test them. so we mite see a kick back at the press from certain english players by them bidding for the world cup glory. i really shouldn't be predicting this because i am irish hahaha.

Thanks Carolyn. Soccer is the World's favorite sport, if you ask for my opinion. You gotta go beyond U.S to see whats going on above, and you shall agree with me. Most African country are soccer loving, including Argentina, spain, Brazil, especially. Football has not reach the horizon soccer reached in the World. However, Spain or Argentina might take over the trophy in South Africa.

While I can't make a prediction this year, I hope your team does well. Soccer is gaining momentum as a sport in the US, but I doubt it will ever reach the heights football has here. I'll be thinking of you when I watch the competition! Love, Carolyn
