Psalm Of The Martyr

I am the Martyr you shall not want
I lay me down across waters
You will not cross
I wander mountainsides alone
To bring their grandeur
To your door
And run through gauntlets unafraid
Your cross to bear

I climb the steps of lofty peaks
Through storm and strife and dark of night
And rage the sky in grave distress, for you –
For you, my noble quest, I bear witness
To the blade and knife
To the callous force of Nature’s might
And in despair cry out your name
Though it radiates in muted tones
The crimson luster of its flame

Yea, though I walk through hidden valleys
In the shadow of the midday sun
And move in darkness, as it were
In honor of my sacred word
And wander in the wilderness
These long and restless years
Seeking a deliverance
I seem not to deserve

I yet am bound, in act and deed
By oath of blood and oath of right
Wrested from the Moon
One long and anguished night
Unto my lone and solitary quest
‘Less by loss of hope, of heart, of fight
I lose of you, my love, my life –

Premium Membercan you please get me out of here

mermaid wrested her breasts on the edge of the dish
Her powerful tail gave one tremendous swish
Be open to new people, her inner voice said.
Who are you? Mermaid asked, fluffing her hair of red.
Little girl carrying calico kitten stiffly walked by.
Can you please get me out of here? Mermaid asked, her head held high.
The little girl snickered and the cat gave a sniff.
They rolled their eyes as if to say “as if”….

Aerolithic

(An interview with a skipping stone)

I’ll start at the beginning…I was born oppressed –
The weight o’ th’world upon me…I hardened under stress.
The dust from whence I came…’twas morph-ed into stone –
Then from those depths, upheavals…skyward I was thrown.
By winds and rains beweathered…the Fates, they wrested me
From my mountain aerie…torn down by gravity.
Immersed in turgid waters…sharp edges polished o’er –
Tumbled, tossed and battered…and washed up on the shore.
Petrified, immobile…aeons passed me by –
Until a hand me lifted…and taught me how to fly.

After Arrest No Rest

The time the mind has no second’s rest
Because it, too, is under arrest.
Actively, lips join the protest,
One’s patience and temperance on test…

Not unlikely a heaving of chest
And the more scenic beating of breast,
No cell room a mirror of safe nest:
Not where one stays and one impressed…

No guarantee captive won’t be slapped
And the innocent through some speech trapped;
As many chances of one being kicked
By another who had sweet lips licked…

From the handcuffed some things would leave
Over a dented image I’d grieve…
A time to know how famous one is:
Ears waiting to hear “Release him, please!”
Wrested from the arrested is rest
Victim no longer wears his crest.

He Wore a Mask Not To Be Recognized

WE HEARD HIM SAY"
The Peolpe Will make him a DRAW!

"They read off names of
guys liklyto replace him
and he just sat thre like nothing was wrong.
muscle men
Rich men
Crafty cagey men
more atheletic men
Phyc gimmicky men

if he losses he'll
get booged and brawled
out wrested and pumpled
he'll stand tall and will cheat
and be seen as crafty until
he gets his bearings.
he'll redefind the term
Champion.
People shoul invite this guy
to there promotion and give him trophy's.
The day he loses the title
all those guys can stand
and claim him as
the World champion.
It's a two handled paddle it flips
to the handlers favor.
people will become legends by challenging him.
And he won't ever get the
recognition he deserves.
Trophy this guy up in the independents
and give wrestling fans there real champion!"

Premium MemberA Wrested Weather - Virelai

Spring winds blow their sound,
Winter now is bound.
Knees in,
Melted, sludgy-browned,
Green peaks through the ground.
These in,
Nature's own impound,
Exiled now, grave mound,
Squeeze in.

Snow tries to reason,
Get one last freeze in,
Surprise!
Vernal, yet weazen,
March smells a treason,
The lies!
Mad by degrees in,
Arrogant season,
Reign skies!

Hasten Cold's demise,
February spies,
Be drowned.
Viridescent eyes,
Vegetation rise,
Be gowned,
Prep and lionize,
Time yields yearly prize,
Be crowned!

The Poetess of Heptonstall

This high, half-hidden, churchyard
Where coldness and rain find a home
And the nightfall is welcomed at twilight's end.

The lament of the deafened, defining the dusk,
And complecting its blanket, a chilled shielding shroud ~
A poet lies sleeping alone in her cot.

But verses are silently wrested away
Brilliantly noiseless not rhyming nor free:
And how the wind whistles here all about.

Then, strangely, disturbing the shadowless eve
A voice, a beseeching, may softly be heard.
O' Sylvia, Sylvia, why for art thou here?

Premium MemberThoughts On the War of Late

“Where have all the flowers gone,” the poet wrote
A metaphor for those lost in a cruel war of late
Lives that were wrested from home and family
And thrown into a milieu of humiliation and hate
No real purpose for forfeiting their young lives
In conflict that obviously portended no good ending
But then, what war of that magnitude ever does? --
Is worth our young servicemen and women sending
To sacrifice their lives for some undefined honor
Is it patriotism to assert ourselves in a foreign affair
Methinks there are ulterior motives unexplained
That did not justify the loss of lives way over there.

Premium MemberCrumbled Memories

Ah, memories
        that crumbled to the ground that day;
my childhood home, surrounded by tall trees-
        demolished, swept away.
  For progress sake . . . a bridge was built from town to town;
to span the river- house and trees were wrested down-
    uprooted hearts, in sorrow, drown.
Crumbled memories hold fast- weeping in the breeze.

Jusy Hold Me- a Collaboration With Eileen Manassian

Just Hold Me
She:
Just hold me here close to your heart
Let me stay tranquil a while
This world has wrested my joy away
And has robbed me again of my smile

He:
I will hold you forever, part of my soul
To linger with me until time’s end
I will bring the joy back to your life
Your beautiful smile will transcend

She:
Just keep me here secure in your arms
Blissful and unaware of the strife
There are those around who wish me harm
Be Protector of my heart and life

He:
Forever I keep you safe in my arms
Within my soul you shall dwell
A refuge from the pain of the world
My love shield, your fear will dispel

She:
Calm and soothe me, please, cherish me
And in this haven, let me rest
There is sweetness that here abides
When I am pressed close to your chest

He:
In silent embrace our hearts are one
Find in me comfort and surcease of soul
My love shall buoy you through every storm
As our love the Angels extol

My dearest Enchantress thank you for allowing me to add my pen to your beautiful words. Your heart as always shows through what you write with your quill of gold.
all my love Shane ***
