“The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.” John 3:2 of the King James Bible
Miracles indeed smite woe and sorrow
Since the Almighty ignites hopeful glow
Emancipating me from grievous doubts
Surely showing triumph for tomorrow.
Having been conquered by miracles’ bouts
My heart gladly worships with praise-filled shouts
Holding on to Christ’s assurance of grace
Hoisted for divine freedom from guilt-clouts.
Thanking God for miracles midst life’s race
My faith propels me well, strongly to face
Grim realities that shatter great dream
Guarded against pangs of torturous space.
Tasting triumph due to miracles’ scream
My spirit trusts the Lord for service-beam
Watchfully reaching-out to ease pain’s blow
Sharing blessings, along provision stream.

Surmounting feelings of woe and sorrow
She seeks the Saviour along hopeful glow
Striving to discard shroud wrapping her doubts
Surely showing triumph for tomorrow.
Having indeed conquered depression bouts
Her heart smites melancholy with praise-shouts
Holding on to Christ’s assurance of grace
Hoisted for divine freedom from guilt-clouts.
Grateful to God for peace midst gloomy race
Gladly, faith propels her strongly to face
Grim realities that shatter great dream
Guarded against pangs of torturous space.
Winning now against grievous wistful scream
Will of hers trusts the Lord for service-beam
Watchfully reaching-out to ease pain’s blow
Withdrawn not, but wafting wise self-esteem.

Looking like first flakes of new fallen snow
After the mowing, white clover is blooming
And the honeybees are beginning to show.
Spring squirrels emerge to begin grooming
Grasses to soften their sapling nests,
Business in nature's backyard is booming.
Blue jays are unfurling their stately crests,
While foraging for tasty newly-fallen seed
Competition for ranging groundhog pests.
Edge of forestland critters deftly feed
Earlier in the first light of the dawn
Carefully, watchfully fulfilling their need.
Last comes the larger doe with new fawn
Moving stealthily onto my new-mown lawn.

Gentle spirit, eye mindful, touch tender
Innate aliveness, dwelling in wonder
Head and heart melded, to Gods will submits
Loving; judging neither fault nor merit
Watchfully leaving no hearts asunder
Gods abode within, not someplace yonder
With this knowing, thoughts, words and deeds, kinder
Resonance with conscience, a perfect fit
Gentle spirit
Vaporised self, choosing pathways purer
Radiant bliss current, joy vivifier
Content to blossom slowly, bit by bit
Wearing the bliss garment, as God did knit
Luminous being, aspect surrender
Gentle spirit

Watchfully looking
Poised attention
Without seeking
Flowing in elation
The thus continuum
An unceasing flow
Throbbing sensorium
Is with bliss aglow
Reflex fulcrum
Centred in bliss
Devoid of ego residuum
Joyful - nothing amiss
Ever flowing in ecstasy
Love marks not time
Bliss throb in continuity
Ineffable rapture sublime

Simply watchfully looking
Awareness self aware
Waves rising & ebbing
As hidden desires declare
There is no one here
Cognition heightened remains
Vibration which draws near
Possibly an egoic stain
Is-ness of being-ness
A mist with no attribute
Save throb of blissfulness
Is-ness prayerfully resolute
Any aspect within that sizes
Deluded thought interference
Blocking divine surprises
Corrupting pristine innocence
Dwelling in mind body form
A divine gift from the universe
Imbibing bliss magnetism warm
Without attempting to rehearse
Upon cessation of limited doing
As of our conditioned past
Simply watching doing nothing
Celebrating each pulse as our last
Orientation of agendalessness
Inner sentience wide awake
Vibrancy in gentle blissfulness
Divine blessings we partake
In stillness

Bird in a Cage
A small, gloriously yellow bird ended up trapped in a cage
Each day the confines grew more and more like home
Constraints seemed familiar
Lost were the thoughts of flying free and open space
Dreams grew dimmer and dimmer
Of exploration and of choice
Food came easily
No need to forage
Predictability a comfort
Safety and confinement became its new friend
Over time the glorious feathers dulled
Despondency took over
No fight was left to try to escape
Until…one day
The door lay open
Coveted freedom beyond belief
Nothing was the same again.
To dare to dream
Terror gripped as he fluttered off
Slowly, watchfully
Unfamiliar now
Forgetting how to fly
Would he regain what he once knew?
Climbing heights
Regaining freedom
New realities!

At The Feeder, January 18th
The fresh dusting of snow this morning
is now a lacy network of sparrow tracks
overwritten by the single trail
of the marauding squirrel.
The feeder has been frozen
for two days,
and the only way to feed the birds
is to scatter seed on the snow.
The black squirrel,
shoulders hunched,
slowly moves across the snowy plain,
vacuuming up seed
as he goes.
His exhaled breath puffs the snow
as he creeps forward exposing more food.
The mourning doves sit watchfully
at a distance,
almost hypnotized by the action below,
timid, even amongst the sparrows.
The sparrows flit about
looking for an opportunity to land.
When one brave soul gets his feet on the ground,
he is joined by the rest of the flock
and the squirrel moves on
with a look that says,
“I was finished anyway.”

The wolf and the moon had a covenant
To meet whenever the sky is bright at night
There the moon exposes her radiant light
While the wolf howls, watchfully jubilant.
Constantly they meet for life-news’ sharing
Each is expectant, never late…
With delight, the wolf gives detailed update
And the moon glows… listens, gladly staring.
Such communion is somehow mysterious
Yet expresses harmonious partnership…
As the wolf inquires, “How’s God’s leadership?”
The moon answers, "Well,...always victorious!”*
*1Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

A SUMMER WALK
Dr. Jim Martin
Leaving one morning for a predawn walk,
Accompanied by no one with whom to talk.
I quickly observe the stillness in the air,
And pause to enjoy the coolness everywhere.
I briskly walk, lost in my thought,
Debating in my head those chores I had fought.
“Relaxing is this,” I hasten to say,
As I hurry along to start my day.
The neighborhood pets are beginning to wake,
I cautiously watch them, no chances to take.
They lazily watch with curious eye,
As I walk hastily, yet watchfully by.
As I get to the end of the street,
I turn around and begin my retreat.
Returning to home where my venture began,
I marvel, “How simple, yet rewarding this plan.”
I now must begin these chores anew,
And wonder if I will ever muddle through.
Tomorrow will find me all eager to retrace,
Those familiar steps which I daily face.

Both were pets at home—
The cute parrot and the black cat.
We loved both—almost equally.
They too loved us beyond measure,
But didn’t at all like each other.
Each thought that the other was
One too many!
We did not encage Cutie.
Thought it a sin.
But that was all our sin—
As it turned out.
When we were alert,
As we were almost always,
Blackie was on her best behaviour.
But she was only waiting—
Watchfully, patiently.
She knew only too well that the best way
To resist a temptation is
To yield to it.
So one day, as Cutie was perched cozily
On our tiny toddler’s shoulders,
She swooped down:
kra..kra…kra.
Oh, the rest is silence!
So, what’s dear to you
May be dinner to another!

A powerful hunter, of varied species
Watchfully gazing, they perch on high
Eyesight of excellence, strong hooked beak
Awaiting your prey, vultures, a splendid relation
Incredible wingspan, as they take flight
Found near water, perched on feathered legs
Fish a-plenty, hunting ground
Boot, harpy, snake, fish and sea
Of four divisions so they belong
Rainforests, deserts, coasts thy be found
Of almost every habitat
Foraging for food
Make way to the nest
Eyries of the ledge, frequently of the trees
Align thy grass, twigs and leaves
Display a valid courtship
Allocate thy mate
Somersault with might and weight
Protect thine eggs, chicks will hatch
Be guarded, vulnerability be aware
Return thy food, to motherly shelter
Protect from snakes, ravens, racoons
Promote survival, train thy young
Eagle calls across thy territory
Attention thus occupied
With wings outstretched
Take thy stand

ABANDONED SNEAKERS IN THE STREETS
As we walked watchfully along the way,
a pair of sneakers lay silently in the streets;
abandoned by flight or neglect. Their soles
have lost their occupant: gone to who knows where.
We cannot know the life they once shared;
for there are no footprints in the asphalt to trace
the path of their beginning nor the lonely journey's end;
neither is there a catalogue of exciting events experienced.
We will never know the lord and master
from whom they have been emancipated
to be left here only with the odor of memory:
an acquired anti-aromatic epitaph.
Swiftly strolling silently onward, we pondered
the sneakers’ seduced soul---rather than their sole.
One day this too, will be the fate of our shoes:
abandoned and left only with an acquired
anti-aromatic odor of memory.

He looked down and found me tarnished and worn.
He reached down and gathered me in.
He polished and cleaned, brought forth a new me,
and He even forgave my sin.
He gave me a heart that yearns just for Him,
and a peace that sits so serene.
I know by His grace i'll hold to a faith
in those things that cannot be seen.
I'll keep my eyes on the face of my Lord,
I'll cling to His nail scarred hand.
I'll place my burdens and cares at His feet.
On that solid Rock I will stand.
I will not faulter, nor will I fail,
I'll draw on His strength every day.
I'll always be a witness for Him,
a disciple along life's way.
I know He will never foresake me,
evermore with me He'll be
I know He will love me forever
from now through eternity.
Helping me through the bad times
watchfully caring for me.
Guiding and guarding and keeping,
right through eternity.

Indigenous forest so awash with trees.
Leaves strum a tune in the cool Autumn breeze.
Rustling rowans and galloping ash.
A rustic blanket for a well trodden path.
Plum tinged foliage, fleet of foot in the dance.
Melancholy movements has me in a trance.
Woodland dance floor with pine-needle skin.
Acorns descend hit the floor and join in.
Ancient great oak stands fearless and tall.
Watchfully presiding over each leaf that falls.
The seasons will pass and flowers will flourish.
All dancing their feet in Gods soil to nourish.
Drifting of herbs and bluebells in spring.
Come Summer,a chorus, the nightjar will sing.
Badgers emerging on mild winter nights.
Flittering bats in forest twilight.
Crossbills and siskins searching for fruit.
Goshawks and buzzards circle and swoop.
Indigenous forest,a landscape supreme.
Take the kids there tomorrow, its got to be seen.
