Premium MemberThe Pirates of Wales

The Challenge ~ The Milford Haven Harbor shielded Wales
from pirates making merchant ships their prey.
Her ports have cradled many from the gales
and swaddled sailors as her pirates play.
The Irish and the Celtic Sea are veils
for pirate rogues unleashing disarray.
Upon the waves each plunderer assails
thus, seeking out each subjugated stray.

The "Deft", a barque where buccaneering

A Name By Any Other Arose

Native Americans call me 'Paleface'
'Roundeye' say the Chinese race
to a Scot I'm a 'Sassenach' 'Boyo' to those in Wales
altho' a 'Limey' in New York
I answer to none such hails
once a 'Gweilo' in Hong Kong Down Under was a 'Pom'

he may even be your (best) 'Pal'

Highly polished bar timbertops rich shining deep.' Varied
Paper coasters to keep it pristene, bowls of cheese squares crackers at the side, the sent of a recent cleaning

Sonnet for St David

The leek will sit with pride upon that hat;
and, yes, a daffodil’s another plant.
The two are often worn, so let us chat
about St David’s Day – or Dewi Sant.

This prelate was a Christian and we know
he was a bishop and the son of Non,
and grandson of a king, said to be so,
that king, we’re told,

St David's Day in Wales

(the first day of March)

Am I as lonely as that cloud?
I kneel this early time of day.
The traffic’s quite thin now, not loud,
while I am crouching, seem to pray!
St David’s Day is here, with chills.
That cloud looks down on Wales and hills.

I’m kneeling down upon this grass
to pluck the yellow one to pin
on my lapel

Premium MemberA tribute to Wales

The hills and valley's are stirring the mist hangs low
On the ground.

The mighty dragon rises to his feet and takes in the
Fresh Welsh air.

He let's out a mighty roar not a roar of menace but
A roar of defiance a calling to the people of Wales.

Come my children my people gather in your
Thousands in the country

I Stuffed Their Mouths With Gold

Convalesced amongst peaks and valleys,
Verdant and undulating over Afon Ebwy,
I paid my way through the colliery
With but a baker's dozen of years behind me.

Seduced by the hanging-left red scare,
I rejected ancient teachings and scripture
For a life of advocacy, plagued with
This body, my ever-failing vessel.

Conscribed to compulsory service,
My anatomy owned by some Great War,
Though my

Who Dares Rouse Leviathan

Who dares rouse Leviathan,
the Giant beneath the heaving deeps?
This world now teams with Ahabs
whose heaping anger never sleeps.
Each one wants to hook its jaw
and each to press its tongue;
to try its rich and fragrant oil
and see it bound and beached and dumb.

Poor soul captains on fragile ships
vainly sharpening the barbless spear.
The Whale scoffs beneath the

Diana, Princess of Wales

Princess Diana was born in England and died in France.
When she was in a car wreck, she didn't have a chance.
She divorced Prince Charles of Wales just one year before she died.
Diana was only 36 years old and her death was mourned worldwide.
When somebody dies that young, it's always hard to understand.
She did charity work

North Wales

North Wales
Does it always rain in Wales, or is it about to rain
dark sky over hills and dales, a sprinkle of sheep
abandon farms and ancient cottages where mad
poets find attractive.
The Chapel and pub do the same work, saving souls
from the dread of living when it is about to rain.
I hear a Welsh choir singing a
