The dead-end street in front of the house
is still, and I notice leaves have fallen.
The roommate said last night no one
came here for trick or treating
and now a cold wind blows.
I just moved in here yesterday.
I’m starting my life again.

The summer rain

It is in the hottest month of April,                                          The hot sun is disappearing slowly,

The man upstairs

Keys rattle,
door slowly closes ...
An echo of footsteps walk upstairs..

You can hear his bedroom door close,
a little bump as he sits on his bed,
then there is just nothing..

They think he is angry,
raging at the world,
anti social, but at work he smiles,
jokes and shows a jovial side,
like a 'Pirate of the Caribbean'

but in his home he

She Moved Upstairs

our angel who sleeps so peacefully there
the foundation that supports all our lives
no momma' didn't die; she moved upstairs

hands that can play Amazing Grace with flair
a melody that will lift and suprise

she bakes her cakes with a dollop of air
not to mention those sweet potato pies

The snowflakes falling
A wind is blowing
It is a blizzard
Hard to walk or drive
Parking lots full of snow
Hard to park a car

Walking in deep snow
Stairs filled with snow
Difficult to walk up
Or down stairs
Steps need to be cleared
After the blizzard storm

The  very old lady upstairs 
Keeps dropping things on the old wooden floor
I keep waiting for the big old thud

Try leave behind "Book Of The Week"
And head upstairs where floorboards creak.

Where people tilt their heads to look
At every spine on every book.

Where murderers and secret lovers
Plot and scheme between the covers.

Where transport from another age
Transports you to another page.

Where old detective books reside
Each with their price pencilled inside.

Neighbor Upstairs

neighbor upstairs / elderly / maybe schizophrenic /
lead footed / restless / every day / rearranges furniture /
vacuums carpets / nails picture frames / drops pots and
pans / rolls concrete marbles across the floor / slams
cabinets / blasts 60’s music / interrupts my solace / grit
my teeth till flat / I complain / others complain

Dinosaur Upstairs

I used to know a Dinosaur,
Who lived on the second floor.
Not too sure what kind he was,
As I’d never seen one before.
 
It did get a little bit noisy,
Him being just upstairs,
Especially on his birthday,
When he played musical chairs.

when i listen to the

about michael's baby
cooking
her eggplant, i
realize that i
forgot
to make some honey
butter

Upstairs Racers

All the noise from upstairs is outrageous.
They should lock up thier children in cages.
But it is`nt the children I blame.
I`ts thier parents who made this a game.
They run all day long.
They`re like Gold Medal strong.
Everyday`s like a day at the races.

Upstairs

Hush
a murmur -
a burst of mirth - you laugh.
A giggly boy or two; the
drone of you
mixed with monkey's bonding squeals
slide up the stairs; on polished
paternal air.
Then a deep man's voice where
once a boy's ascended - mellow with
early manhood. Resonating;
capitulating - exclaims agreement.
And I see through gauze
made murky by time
us five - woven
warmly -
