Unrushed Poems | Examples

Laura

cry cry its pretty time
credit card eyelashes
equalize the load
spend the morning unrushed
head full of murmur
down Liechtenstein we go
open the window
face eastwards
to all those strangers

In the unquiet chamber of a kitchen,
where brittle leaves of thyme and sage sway
in unison, to the hot hum of convection
crooning softly from a stove of iron.

The guests hang waiting, by turns,
for their moment in the simmering cauldron.

Thick, steaming whispers of warmth
curl around the herbs like a secret,
as the ample arms of winter wrap the day,
in a slowing cloak of comfort.

The soup, a slower surrender of spinach,
blooms in the broth—verdant and tender at first,
then shrinking away, like sunlight at solstice.

Wilted strings of greens tie memory
in their tendrils, mingling with the earthy echo
and unrushed tones of rosemary.

Garlic, its own pungent alchemy, intrudes
as a perfume, lingering like an unpaid mistress,
an alabastered addition to the elixir, a liquid hymn,
of patience.

Bones simmered to capitulation,
cradled spoonsful of succumbing, each sip
an immersion into the gentle resignation of day.

Ladle gently circles the pot and the world slows,
even more, as though time, too, seeks refuge
in the simmering depths of the ordinary,
and the richness of the balm, in stillness,
at the center of the supper.

Premium MemberFlee To Nature

At times, I must flee routine and city work-life,
leave behind my daily schedules and office strife
to linger unrushed where nature remains untouched,
its splendid beauty neither man-brushed nor time-hushed.

When I cannot escape to nature’s lilting scenes
my natural faith aches and wilts in crooked leans.

Though We Be

Though we be separated by great distance,
many a miles the gulf between us
Our two hearts walk always together
Though your face I have yet to see,
your distant eyes look affectionately towards me
Smiles to smiles shrink our sea of space,
this enormous chasm evaporates
with one call from a cell
You wishing me well ... your voice full of love,
this I can tell
Though we be ever so far away,
our hearts have drawn only nearer
Such a beautiful paradox to witness:
I rest east of Eden,
you rest west of paradise
Perhaps we will be together
in the next life
As for today,
sweet loneliness is the price we both pay
Though we be true lovers,
with hands that have never touched
We do strengthen each other
with comforting words from the heart unrushed

Bein' Busy

Beautiful days.
Enchanting evenings.
Indulged, inspired.
Navigating naughtiness.

Busy being
Unusually unrushed.
Serenely sailing
Your yacht.

First Flowers of Spring

These first flowers of spring,
So brave and unafraid
Are the rarest, sweetest
And should never be touched,
As they must be free to
Emerge, unrushed, to rise
One day at a time, just
The way they were meant to be.

We will see, eventually
How they bloom and display,
And what they become
As the sun catches up,
And they sway in the breeze,
Young birds for them will sing
Songs of destiny, to please
These first flowers of spring.

Rainbow

After the storm has passed,
Pelting rain has ceased, and
Ratchet winds have shifted into
Tolerable and non-threatening breezes,
Life resumes in an ordinary sense.
As grey clouds move east,
The sky opens to unveil its majesty
And daybreak takes its proper place.
Slowly the sun emerges,
Rising like a phoenix,
Renewing our hope and calm.
The world looks anew.
As birds chirp and trees stand tall
No longer swayed by unfriendly gusts,
The clean scent of rain left behind
Brings forth a new freshness in the day.
Life resumes with kids playing in puddles
And downtown streets are busied with people
Who walk unrushed to appointments.
On lucky days when looking into the sky
A bow of colors may catch their eyes –
Such a rare treasure that makes them smile
As they take delight in its pleasing sight.
What a miracles it is to see
After the passing of a storm.
Perched above it signals harmony
And the promise of a new beginning.
A wondrous sign to behold,
A remarkable ending to that which has passed.

The weatherman is trying hard to find
Another way to say rain is forecast.
He knows we hate him when he must remind
That we should be prepared for rain to last.
Two weeks ago we thought spring had arrived
And stored our bulky sweaters all away,
So eager were we to welcome in spring.
Enchantment was short lived.
I’ll find a happy way to spend my day,
Into my house the sunshine I shall bring.

This day is mine to do with as I please.
I’ll not fill these hours with idle fretting.
My cozy house envelops me with ease,
Time a gem within a simple setting,
To be used entirely for my pleasure.
Without guilt I raise up the thermostat
To the degree that meets my comfort zone.
And for extra measure
Treat myself to cup of hot chocolate,
Preparing for a pleasant day alone.

I mute the phone that no one shall intrude
Upon these precious moments, once unknown.
It has been many years since my young brood,
Took so much time, I had none of my own.
I pluck an unread book from off the shelf
And settle down to plan a magic hour
I revel in the novel feeling of
A relaxed, unrushed self.
Behind my ear I place a perfect flower
And pour a second cup of drink I love.

Our Destiny

I hide my obsession, behind the depression, but hte expressions i show, boy
you'll never know the way i feel for you, when i see you i blush, my blood begins
to rush, but yet and still i hush, to keep it away from our friendship, even though i
cant stand it, i want to let it uncover, but my heart tells me to let it smuther,..... so
my face is unblushed, the blood unrushed, and all thats left is you and me ,our
friendship , no love,.................................... but i guess thats our DESTINY !
