Unpalatable Poems

winter of discontent

Winter of Discontent

Cloudiness has settled in the sky
An act of unpalatable truth of the kind
A summer sun easily hides
Old dwellings are full of cracks
Sagging roofs and dust on the windowsill
Pot-holed roads, dry as clay, lead from
From doom to the gloom of routines
Nothing changes; life is an endless struggle
Spring is far away
Then, a miracle happens, splitting clouds
I saw the sun, as the flowers in the garden
had seen
warming my face, letting the illusion continue

Premium Memberinvited to casserole

Casserole was unpalatable
I did not ask for the recipe
Some of the ingredients I barely recognizing
Who puts mashed potatoes with green beans?

Would ketchup have added to it? Did it need onions?
Would Heinz 57 have saved it or at least made it better?
I smiled at my hostess, and pushed the slop around on my plate.
Noting the others were doing the same thing.

So it was not just me….

Closing Chapter

Vacuum of thoughts
Pain that defines its origin
Invisible block on throat
Tasteless air through the nostrills
A body weak to the skeleton

How does a house stand without it's central pillar?
How does one look at their face without a mirror ?
How does one exist outside of existence?

Unpalatable questions yearning answers
A broken soul longing wholeness
A shattered heart begging comfort
A mind out of sync with reality

Birds compose a final sombre anthem
as winds whisper the silent voices of those laying under
Fountain of tears make way down the pale cheeks
Here cometh the hour
Dust to dust

The choir master carries with, confidence of angelic voices the choir ministered
Undertaker's gathers tools in fulfillment of task completed
The Levi hopes the missionary message preached cuts deep
The multitude takes comfort in knowing their presence was made known

I carry with, a sore and heavy heart of a future without you.

Your smile used to light up my heart
like a spark of light.
And yet, love died in its shadow,
shrouded in pain.
The surface of trust
was somehow scratched;
and susceptible, it started to rust.
Hope tried to seal it
with placebos, empty platitudes,
and a fountain of sparkling phases;
that spoke of love won, love lost,
and love yet to be.
Still, I watched you walk away;
as my eyes filled with tears.
Sweet words, once used to seduce
and flatter,
have morphed; into unpalatable
departing words.
And yet, life moves on,
without guilt, apologies,
promises or guarantees.

Premium MemberAt a Museless Wake

My muse is on fire, she burns at the stake
guilty of poetasting, and glaring mistakes
Inferior rhymes with old Monoku outtakes
blaze all around her, as embers are raked
Badly blistered syllables, spark and flake
   Whilst lacklustre stories, continually bake
A bard fans the flames, but he too’s a fake
for mincing his own words, with juicy steak
Making ado about nothing, soliloquy spake
Glory to the Efilist god, ha! give me a break

                A dedication of respect
              for rendering down a bard
                         # # #
                  However unpalatable
           and repugnant the suet tastes
                         # # #
From March madness to April fool’s
digesting copious amounts of insipid tofu
                         # # #
                    Only to wipe it off
                 in an all encompassing
              persistent vegetative state

Premium MemberArguments

words erupt from an inner world
of subconscious fear
things said that cannot be unsaid
repercussions accusations
love at risk of being undone
crushing
unnecessary painful with stings
of hurt and projection
out of place and perspective
daggers unsheathed
pointed at the heart of all hearts

booze does not have a favourable impact
the little devil is vile and unpalatable
loosens the tongues and spits venom

apologies make for another day
retrieve most of the poison
and the learning curve is out there
all time for times to get better

I Died June Fifth Aged Sixty Three

I remember little the night of June the fifth.
The ride to the e.r. the pain of my reserrection and jerked
back into the house of the living, this life of pain, once again.

My arm is still numb from all the needles, vampire's around me drawing my blood.
At all time of the night and day.

Unpalatable food asking them why, when the cozy hand of death had firmly closed around me.
While hell on earth weights upon me, Edgar Allan Poe dead at 49.
More deserving of life than that which too him was given

By all means, forget how to be bitter,
For bitterness will eat your innards out
Make you as unpalatable as kitty litter,
And turn you into a disagreeable pout--
Destroy it … if you ever want any clout!

Inside the Mysteries

The invisible
               involves infinite light when
               we learned to eye it...
               the unpalatable,
               hides visionary flavors
               when we learned
               its taste...
               The love of little start,
               saves an immense love, when
               its paths we tread...
              life itself
             is real amphitheater, when
              we live the roles that
have been entrusted to us... !

A Permanent Smile

if i found
the eternal smile,
permanent...
this innocent sap
of an opened heart,
delusional...
I would always put it
ahead of all
unhealed hurts
by time...
would no longer house in
my smiling soul,
any sort of thing
that was decadent...
To these things I would say:
-leave me alone,
I'm glad now!
permanently
my soul would have
this answer
incontinent...
God made for everything,
cure and remedy:
the smile that challenges
incurable pain,
love that erases
unpalatable hate...
Since it's thus, i
would seize to
say goodbye to all
sadness and would scream:
- Goodbye, meet you maybe
in another world...
But if there is
memory that one can
transport something from here,
I carry it with me, suddenly,
the permanent smile,
over there to the other
place...!

Insight From the Invisible

The invisible
               carries infinite light when
               we learned to sight it...

               when we learned
               its sapor...
               The love of little start,
               contains a immense love, when
               its paths we tread...

I Thoroughly Enjoy Dialogue With Second Continuity

Such pipedream regarding
winning bucket loads of cash,
would make monetary woes
in an instantaneous flash
mine dentures no longer
will futilely grind and gnash,
cuz I would undergo oral surgery
and simultaneously acquire

mush sought after gumption,
where dental implants
could offer million dollar smile
mastication boring full force
while I monstrously, yet easily mash
the most unpalatable pop slop
made with tender loving care
courtesy the missus.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors
play key role to alleviate paroxysms
debilitating bouts of anxiety and panic attacks
wracked these lovely bones
during their roaring twenties
severely impinging potential to relish
joys and sorrows present within mein kampf

vast stretches of life sabotaged
courtesy mental health challenges,
thus I acknowledge miracle of modern medicine
particularly prescription medication
(iterated within first line of this verse),
which allows, enables and provides
blessed escape illness noggin tortured.

Permanent Smile

If I found

Come

Come!
by Michael R. Burch

Will you come to visit my grave, I wonder,
in the season of lightning, the season of thunder,
when I have lain so long in the indifferent earth
that I have no girth?

When my womb has conformed to the chastity
your anemic Messiah envisioned for me,
will you finally be pleased that my sex was thus rendered
unpalatable, disengendered?

And when those strange loathsome organs that troubled you so
have been eaten by worms, will the heavens still glow
with the approval of God that I ended a maid—
thanks to a spade?

And will you come to visit my grave, I wonder,
in the season of lightning, the season of thunder?
