Premium MemberOenomel

a practiced smile on her face
a mother’s oenomel breath puffs wind under gossamer wings
reminiscent of the translucent wings of green lacewings—
mistaken for a pest, but beneficial—
to strike out and explore a thorny world
resisting the siren call of spring’s scent
turning their heads with songs of love

emerging personalities
unravel the cocoon spun in love
as naiveté fragmentises into bluster
a mother unobtrusively dries tears
desiring a moral code of empathy towards all

the sweet fragrance of pride
a tantalising selection between
intrinsic values and
natural curiosity—
concomitant heartbeat tempos to dog-eared sheet music of ambition
culminating in Life’s crescendo
natural selection, be damned
as recalcitrant offspring echoes eons of mitochondrial resilience

Premium MemberIt's In There

It's all right there, from you don't hide
The love for you I hold inside
You'll see it unobtrusively
A wink, a smile, quietly
It's not with fanfare that I show
But little sayings like, you know?
Or small things claimed to represent

Premium MemberPreferences Pedestrian

A faded white shirt
    accents his rumpled brown suit
  He takes his place unobtrusively
    sits content, quietly

  His preferences pedestrian
    narrowly bourgeoisie
  Guests sample exotic liquors
    His pleasure is tea

He cares not for flaming duck, nor for pheasant-under-glass
His pudgy fingers put a chokehold on a peanut butter sandwich
For dessert, the raspberry tort was recommended

Being Good

Purely innocent
Completely tolerant
Unconditionally loving
Totally understanding
Overtly gullible
Unobtrusively humble
Intimately sympathetic
Thoroughly empathetic

Throughout caring
Never ignoring
Perpetually loyal
Consistently grateful
Labouriously studious
Discreetly judicious
Immediately yielding
Indiscriminately sharing

Socially polite
Un-assumedly modest
Flexibly adjusting
Unquestioningly accepting
Astonishingly punctual
Immanently answerable
Ever committed
Naturally obligated

All definitions read but not hold good,
For, being good is definitely being victimised!

Premium MemberSweeten September

Heavenly September is marvelous in its beauty,
Unobtrusively stroking each trust is gratifying,
Relentless daylight sprinkles alluring lewd duty,
Exuberant sparkles of elation are truly mollifying,
As auld relics fade, raw ones are soft as kid's booty.

Premium MemberNot a Phrase Uttered

The rippled lake ebbs strangely silent
while memories cling to me---
there's not a tinge of you here anymore
and my fiery pulse now withers:

I roam upon the dunes of time
as current’s surge echoes like waves' blare,
your indifferent glance marks
a broken oath without even one phrase told...

How I feel heart's nudge
this mindful certainty allowing me
to grasp the quicksand of truth--

You are not coming back, ever,
that from instinct's light, I finally concede
when quelled language
numb as a crest unobtrusively waning
-----------------means a goodbye not uttered.

---------------
This is perhaps one of my poems which touched
me dearly when I wrote it. I felt the anguish
of not being able to speak what the heart needed
to express by using metaphors and symbolism.
With sincerity, I did not expect to get an HM. Thank you.

Time Passes

Time passes and night succumbs to day, dawn
The harbinger of renewal and the mourning of
Past moments. Pallor in the eastern sky
Takes on a crimson hue, as some courtesan's lips,
Flooding the world with rich vitality and promise.
This memory fades a little more, though emotion
Argues that it should not disappear into oblivion.
And the sun inspects the world, indifferent to
Our small hurts and despairs, more concerned that
Light bring joy and the small death of forgetfulness.
And as the day brings awakening, the bustle and
Distractions of life, that memory is pushed aside;
And a subtle relief unobtrusively pervades the
Busy mind, and future promise beckons.

Nightfall

Losing its pretence of absolute control,

light it seemed was fumbling for a solace

in the unending pit of coming night.

Shadows trudged into the living room,

sliding through the Persian carpet unobtrusively

to claw their way up onto the black wallpaper and dissolve,

like a river ceases to exist in the sea.

As the journey from day to night

must pass through the interlinked border of twilight,

there also has to be an estuary in a story with a river and a sea,

to bring it a sense of completion

Premium MemberThe Gift

You gave me a gift, but I didn’t open it.
The beautiful package lay intact
And I looked at it from time to time:
Dusted around it, moved it even,
but it remained pristine in its wrapping.

Often I forgot it was there as it sat
Unobtrusively amongst the chaos.
Life scurrying by, its dramas erupting,
There it remained, ribbon faded
By the sunlight from the window.

Then one day, in a rare moment of quiet,
I saw it from the corner of my eye.
I pulled a tiny piece of fraying ribbon
And unfettered the intricate box.
The lid moved as it became untied.

Now I knew I had to look inside:
It had lain unnoticed for so long -
There was a promise wrapped in tissue,
A hand for me to hold, and in a corner
Almost hidden, was a heart of solid gold.,

Premium MemberWomen Who Weep

weeping women

there are women,
of no great happenstance,
in this world,
almost invisible.

they are there and here because
we are still here.
sit in offices, labour in factories,
care for homes and toil in fields.
they have no outstanding
talent or accomplishment
by which they shine
save one,
they are the women who weep.

a soft greyness, doves breast, permeates
their open hearts
small streams of sorrow
cast as tears
pour forth unobtrusively
for the earth, their mother,
her missing and wounded
and all the thoughtless selfish
transgressions, perpetrated
in the name of civilization.

most often they do not know
why they cry
for there seems no reason
in their lives
but the silent moments come
perhaps to give sign of Gaea’s pain,
to wash away the layers of suffering.

Premium MemberIs This Love

In the darkness a flicker of moonlight,
shadows dance. Kissing her long and sweetly
teasing, capturing her sigh craze delight,
she let out a moan unobtrusively.

"I love you. I murmured, "Just you and I."
You make my body sing and my heart soar.
Is this called love, or is it just a lie?
I found my happiness I yearn for more.

I lie and daydream to belong to her,
feeling so incomplete and so helpless;
in me an ache causing a storm to stir,
holding forever leaving me breathless.

Never had to think of no one throughout,
had only myself to worry about.

Nature's Realm

Earthy barmy leafs scurry
Pulling rapidly in peak flurry
Lamenting blind as mists worry

Crude cool calm earth attacks slowly
Silly calm breeze shoo wholly
Sharp plume vanishes hollowly

Descending riveted cloud gleam
Sputtering upon scratching stream
Hurries vacantly in sprinkling steam

Lying oaks bewail 'n bemoan
Unobtrusively giggling delicately unknown
On clear red foundlings windblown

Deciduous elm trees fluster
As slow clouds be one of cluster
Above and slowly disappears in a duster

Suavity forlorn pebbles grieve
Amongst sluggish ol' buttermilk sky heave
As stars twinkling thru' pea soup vapor retrieve

Walking Away

Walking away
It starts small yet expands unobtrusively
Unnoticeable even strangely illusively
You didn’t notice but it inevitably grew
So bad now will eventually suffocate you
I’m walking away

Enters pain acute the very worst kind
Saturates my body and even my mind
I know others share this terrible plight
Fact of the matter its just worst at night
I’m walking away

Loneliness whispers I’m here to stay
Exclusively yours both night and day
A one way road a quite single lane
A settling in this melancholic domain
I’m walking away

Scattered pictures my thoughts assail
Recollections prominent almost a holy grail
Precious memories oh thou soul set free
I will never ever walk away from thee

Easy Heart

And this is why
I have decided
To leave
It there

Incongruity meets ignorance
Your charms fall short
Your words scar
Unobtrusively

Insistently
You choose to see
Through the lens
Of yourself, and
Nowhere close to me

You choose to be
Fooled
By exactly what I am—
To the unthinking,
Merely
Another

Uncertainty meets unrest
Your heart beats much too
Near yourself
Comfortably,
Conveniently

And this is why
I have decided
To leave
It there

Money Tree

I saw a dream, the one in color.
That made me wonder if it's real.
I felt desire and felt purpose.
While steering boat made of steel.
.
There was an island on horizon.
And waves were calmly hugging shore.
The Sun was shining, clouds smiling.
And joy pierced air ever more.
.
So unobtrusively inviting
That island called me - "Welcome in".
The Angels sang and fish were jumping.
My heart felt like in ... well, in dream.
.
So, as I paddled little closer
I came to see a tree in sky.
With mighty roots impaling ground,
Thick leaves, ripe fruits and branches high.
.
The quiet voice without tremble
Kept whispering - "man, this is it.
Just look at leaves and fill your pockets.
They are same green as bucks and greed".
.
And suddenly, the Sun was winking,
The fish and crabs became a stew.
The closed doors lost all the lockers.
Unreachable got in foot or two.
.
The life got easier and joyful.
So many friends are rushing in.
The popularity, butt kissing
Shoot through the roof. I'm loved like king.
.
Then I woke up. The fading patches.
The joy inside but pain in heart.
Conflict of animals and Angels.
Feed Soul or Body, that's our fact.
