Uninjured Poems

The Walk of a Father

He paces through ardor.
Ardor with scorched feet,
Feet in fire for love, forged in blaze.
Blaze that does not burn

Burn but brands his personality.
Personality with resolution,
Resolution hindering infamy.
Infamy he swallows completely.

Completely to make his son grow
Grow uninjured, undefeated.
Undefeated, he positions
Positions at the pit’s verge,

Verge where anxiety and destiny are vivid.
Vivid is the quietness of ransom,
Ransom as the price no one will grasp.
Grasp how he risks the world.

World where his boy might become open.
Open to choose the trail,
Trail avoiding him stagger
Stagger through the dark unaided.

Unaided as the father strides,
Strides but shapes a trail through stone.
Stone by stone, he builds a road
Road that is not bumpy but good and superb.

Superb becomes that man.
Man who walks not for his grandeur
Grandeur as a guide his son’s hand.

what’s the bloodiest, the goriest
it’s what they’re really hoping for
but bread and butter routine falls
uninjured, aging vulnerables
just needing putting back to bed
or in their chair, their blanket days
with smiles as they’re left alone
strong but crying inwardly
the cold and lonely prison home
we drive away hoping that
someone will check up on them
and after shift when we’re in bed
thinking are they still there sat
where we left them hours past
have they eaten, have they ‘been’
that’s the toughness no-one sees
or wants to hear or gives a damn
or interested when they ask
what’s the worst call that you had

Premium MemberUnder a Blue Moon

Reaching out to you, at speed of light
so you may find me on common ground,
among the trees
a gentleman, though strange to your ears.

Under a lamplit room, one full of sky
oh, though my eyes look down,
not worldly as you may think
uninjured, and uninjuring
just the same as you.

Yes, it's you, my words were bent to
past the zenith, straight to a future
beating heart, all yours.
Reach back to me with fingers
made to extend, a hero mine..
with soft lips.

Pollux begged for the life of a twin,
under the latin sign of Gemini
and the same now
I beg of Zeus.

Stand under a future blue moon,
w'luck, I'll be there too..
though the coursing in my veins
hides your name today,
I'll discover it soon.

Types of Fall

Types of fall

We all taste the physical one
After Earth’s Gravity has won,
With zest we rush at the fallen,
No big deal there, so no stalling
“You’re okay! Please, don’t mind the slip”
That is: if uninjured one’s hip;
Victim, Helper back on their feet:
More miles to deal with by the feet
Hundred times worse fall from some peak,
Climbers luckiest scar: a bad streak;
I tell you time for ambulance,
Where one shall have to first balance…

For First Aid or treatment proper:
Anything that might save dropper…
As much we’d see the other fall,
When feuding failure makes a call
And so badly hits one’s image
One scuttles off to one’s village
For a life more indoors than outdoors,
Still, at night moving on all fours…

Premium MemberThe Horcrux Cave

I lay upon the rocks and trembled, cold

While all around the darkened waters burned

And just beneath the surface there, untold

Vast numbers of Inferi writhed and churned

It took some moments for my head to clear

And come to senses that the lad was gone

Thus fighting through the foggy veil of fear

On hands and knees I hunted for my wand

A spell I had not cause to use for ages

Propelled the fire as streaks into the lake

And as the dead retreated in their rages

The boy arose uninjured from their wake

And tho' we jeopardized our lives to come

The phony Horcrux left us bleak ... and numb.

Family get togethers are so much fun
provided you stick to the rules.
Greet everyone with a smile.
Get them talking about themselves.
Don't compare nor gloat.
Set the timer to 'it will be over soon'.
Keep topics neutral; arguments deflated.
Keep unmentionables hidden away.
Don't say the obvious, keep anger at bay.
Small talk, short talk - in small short doses,
    spread evenly around the room.
You can survive, unruffled, uninjured
by keeping it all short and sweet.
Happy........Whatsoever.

My Freeway Angel

Caught between two cars
There was no lane between them
Who guided my hand?

Steering crazily
back and forth between them both
It was harrowing

At another time
I was sideswiped by a rig
on that same freeway

My car went sideways
to the front of a man’s truck
I had no control

I was being pushed
as the trucker slowed his pace
in his middle lane

Before the truck stopped
I wondered is this the end?
I felt strangely calm

My car then emerged
faced against the traffic but
on the embankment

A few other times
my tires had big bad blowouts
I came out unscathed

I’ve stayed uninjured
through all my mishaps but not
so lucky - my cars!

Have I been lucky
or is a freeway angel
looking after me?

Premium MemberYou Are Always With Me

I picked up your ashes
Three months after cremation
I felt I had bottled emotions
Time would help verbal summation
Yet silence is what I find
No words escape my lips
Thoughts of your meandering
Unbeknownst except for tips
Your work you credited
All your time and space
Arriving home so late
Booze on breath and red face
I overlooked so much
I never said a word
Just glad you made it home
Uninjured and unhurt
I loved you
I hope you knew
Took care of you
The best I could do
I feel a whole
Deep within my heart
A void filled by you
Right from the start
Sometimes I feel you
Watching over me
But to hold you again
Is what I need
The birds call for you
The dogs look too
The cats wait on the bed
But all are well fed
I keep your ashes with me
And everywhere I go
Your in an airtight gray box
Co captain as we go
It's funny the quiet moments
And music we now enjoy
Is all I ever wanted love
But your program would not deploy
So for now we spend this time
Exactly how I wished
You are always with me
Peaceful loving how I embellished.
