I’m grateful that I have known
the love of my family
my friends
my wife
which has helped me understand
how vital love is to a life.
How important it is for us to love everyone
like they’re our sister or our brother…
because we’ll be remembered most when we’re gone
not by how much we have…
by how much we have loved one another
you get home from a work
greeted with a smile
a hug and i'll hold you for a while
i'll ask how it's been
and you'll give me an answer
that's nothing short of true
we'll go to bed
and greet each other in the morning
rather than every blue moon
and i'll smile
knowing i can hold you again
even if it's only for a little while
you'll laugh
and i'll be reminded
how i love you so
talks of getting married
i promise
i won't ever go
you'll say thanks
for me doing a little chore
i'll say thanks
for loving me often
and loving me some more
We paced the dulcet garden path paved with desire,
sensed the fervent flower called love bloom in our heart,
where the butterfly of longing flew on the trail of fire,
promising us with its flair nothing would set us apart.
Through the blizzard in the winter of depressing plight,
in my journey across the undulating terrain of languid life,
and along the valley of flowers in the spring of delight,
I am never alone, for with me I always find you, my wife.
As our entwined footprints fade in the passionate past,
in my last mile walk, you, as my second shadow, I see.
While the twilight gleam of the spent sun wanes fast,
I am thankful for the precious gift God has given me.
Many things I am thankful for -
such as my Savior I adore.
For family I’m thankful and
all things in nature I find grand.
For food and shelter all my life
I’m thankful, and to be a wife
with kids and grand kids; they grew so fast!
Our memories are sure to last.
For students, pets, and true friends who
have brought me joy I’m thankful too.
For all I’ve got to learn and see
and poetry, God, I thank thee.
Thanks go first and last to my wife
My best friend, companion
the love of my life
She sticks with me through thick and thin
Which boggles my mind
reflecting on the jams we’ve been in
She tells me her darkest secrets, no matter how awful
I, in turn, return the favor ~
We've been through a 'jawful'

I'm so thankful for each day when I awake to see the rising sun
Thanks to those who've forgiven me for wrongdoings that I've done
Also, I'm grateful for my three lovely daughters and my loving wife.
And those souls who gave me freedom often paying with their life.
I'm thankful that I had a career that gave me financial security
That helped put a roof over my head and provided for my family
And thankful for my many good friends who have watched my back
Who have supported me in my daily life and online from attack.
I'm thankful too for my sight to be able to see beauty all around
And for my hearing that enables me to hear the sweetest sound
Also, I'm thankful too that I found the ability for poetry to write
I've had a few lows over the years, but thankful I've done all right.
On my walk this morning at the beginning of the day
my mind wandered to all the IOUs I’ve passed out along the way.
All those lessons my parents tried to teach me…some I even learned
how they tried to help me think and grow …while asking nothing in return.
Then there’s my family…my wife, my children and my grandchildren too…
who have taught me all about myself…so many IOUs
And throughout my life what about all those little things my friend continue to say and do…
to each an every one…I owe a host of IOUs.
I’ve also been the recipient of random acts of kindness…
from strangers….people I never actually met…
whose kindness I remember…whose faces I forget.
I guess I’ve written a million IOUs…a million checks that I’ve left blank…
for those million acts of kindness…I offer now…a million thanks.
And to the million of you out there…
know from all of you I’ve learned…
for every IOU I pass out…
I do my best…
to receive one in return.
snail gave the elf a lift with a sniff
so he could procure a floral whiff
elf profusely thanked his step stool live
please come for tea at half past five
snail had never been invited to anyone’s tea
He tried on outfits numbering twenty-three
just go said his wife, don’t make such a big deal
elf fed him an incredible fly-pie and meal.
Thanksgiving is a time of year
To give thanks to those both far and near.
Be it family, friends, husband, or wife
Or someone else who impacts your life.
Impacting life could be good or bad
Like a deadbeat mom or dad.
Impactful lives help us grow
And at times may even make us glow.
Glowing from a glimmer of hope
In an effort to help us grow and cope.
Help us grow by knowing what we desire
Before that glimmer begins to expire.
When that desire begins to dim
A person’s heart could resent her or him.
The resentment could be from the “what-if’s”
Although others look at you as stuck up and stiff.
So, as you sit together with others
Be kind and thankful to your sisters and brothers.
Sisters and brothers need not be related
For in God’s eyes, we are all equally created.
WHERE I AM!
“Where am I?” I ask,
an aging citizen in a small cold place
in Upstate New York
…..but my fellow citizens
in the suburban towns have
given up on my City and its
proud but struggling peoples,
they want to slink in and work
then flee as fast as the Interstates
will allow….but I want to live
in a work of art in progress,
participate in the unfolding of
faith, opportunity, good work
rewarded not only with money,
property and the pursuit of
happiness, but with the spiritual
fulfillment of taking care of
one another……..
Yesterday, the afternoon high was nine degrees,
it was bright and sunny, I shoveled the snow, said
a prayer of thanksgiving for the place where I
live, knowing my wife was waiting
inside, knowing I was blessed and
always have been!
Into blind rage he flew again
His neck veins bulged, his fists he closed
His wife could not remember when
She'd seen her man calm or composed
This time she screamed; she'd yelled out Stop!
Surprised and stunned, he lost his voice
Tempting fate, she'd ruled out cops
She prayed she'd made the wisest choice
His veins relaxed, his fists now hands
His voice returned, he told her thanks
She would not have to make demands
Resort to feline's cunning pranks
He managed to suppress his rage
Thanks to his wife, he turned the page

Now in the midst of all the troubles
so much to think that's just wrong
but need to look up to being positive
make it all melodious sing your song
So much to bless my God for
despite my stammer so much else I do
see, hear, smell, walk and so much more
having a good conscience to be true
Knowing God who leads me in life
desire divine truth learn so much more
no matter its depth your desire grows
the Lord's spirit guides me to my Bible door
God blessed me with Christine my wife
making me so happy now 32 years
so caring, lovely and thoughtful to me
together our love keeps us in the clear
Been blessed with love for music
various types through all my time
given me a love to write poetry
such therapy of calm makes it rhyme
(With the pandemic, loss of loved ones, war, unrest, and everything else I've
Just wrote a poem about my blessings with the prompt "Why am I blessed?")
Giving Thanks

Giving thanks for Thanksgiving
I know it's God's will
That he brought us great joy
With our Valentine, Lil
She arrived yesterday
With a glint in her eyes
Flying in the last moment
What a pleasant surprise!
Tomorrow's Thanksgiving
And she must fly away
So as in daylight savings
We've turned it back a day
We're celebrating today
On Thanksgiving she'll go
On a 6:00 AM flight
Back to New Mexico
Her visit was quick
For she has her own life
She brought love and joy
For both me and my wife
Lil is our granddaughter
In case you did not know
She'll be leaving fond memories
As she returns to the flow
Lily, I hope you know how much your visit means to Gram and me
Love, Pop
I've just found the love of my life,
I'm taking up golf
And getting rid of the wife.
My troubles have just started
I don't know what to do,
I can't work the dishwasher,
Or the microwave too.
I've got piles of dirty washing
All over the place,
My kitchen and bathroom
Are a total disgrace.
But I look on the bright side,
(I say this with a frown)
My house might be in a mess,
But my handicap is coming down.

Stargazer, stargazer
Bearer of bouquets
Four of stardust
Four the number of times you fussed
Hoping to see cream of the crop.
Pink, yellow, white, and orange stargazer lilies smiled
Your dimpled wife blushed
Step mom, and your auntie-in-law, hushed
Birth mother in her element rocked
You were humbled Prince of Wales with grandmother
You in garden of your mind, born to win
Stood star gazing.
The smell of lavender breeze floated in
Absolute joy soothe our soul,
We gathered not far from heaven's gate
Stargazer, you scouted shimmering colors
Shimmying still.
