Teenagers are just
Entering the real world with an
Emotional roller-coaster.
Never understood by others,
All they can do is
Grow with hope,
Excitement, sadness, and fury.
Radiating curiosity are some while others
Seem to already have it figured out.
Being the overthinker—how does that feel?
After reading this piece , perhaps you will see a different side of me.
Every little detail bothers me,
overanalyzing situations in a myriad of ways, and starting a new chapter in my life always brings forth the worst thoughts in me.
Surely, one should look on the bright side of things? Why does this brain not function like that of a typical human being?
A routine circumstance
becomes an intricate labyrinth
from which I am unable to escape
the twists and turns appear to be perfectly duplicated, only escalating my anxiety of losing everything once more.
Today, my thoughts are a pool of remorse
that is consuming every breath I take
and resurfacing unconsciousness
that is tearing apart every shred of hope
I managed to salvage during the day.
And now that I'm sitting here
in the quiet, darkness,
with my thoughts racing far beyond reality,
it makes sense why I'm constantly exhausted even though I don't get out of bed before dawn.
Eat bitter, taste sweet
Do this, rewards you will reap.
Fight, savour, repeat.
I visit you in dreams,
and my visit is always unexpected.
I’m always excited and more
than a little apprehensive.
.
In dream variations, your reactions shuffle
like poker cards - you’re surprised and pleased,
or wary, or even politely disappointed.
.
Dreams can be a harsh mirror and as in real life,
my emotions are poorly protected.
.
Brushstrokes of truth hide behind the
tricksy falsehoods of dream-scapes. After all,
I’m an unworthy suitor in practically every way.
.
In the real world, I’m sure early, favorable
impressions would fade to inevitable boredom.
I have that effect on adults - I’ve seen it
- a quick nod and I’m invisible.
.
I should be a bank robber - “What did the
robber look like?” the police would ask.
“Well... the teller would say,” fading off to vagueness.
.
I could stand right there looking at my phone.
“Did YOU see anything?” The cop would ask me.
“I was playing candy crush...” I’d begin,
but the cop would walk distractedly away.
.
By the time they got the video evidence, I’d be long gone.
These are some
Senryu poems about friendships.
Who knows us better?
Friends are family
by invitation - accepted
gifts to each other.
We don't care what
your specific gender is
we're calling you dude.
I love to hang out
with people who make me forget
to check on my phone.
We all have a friend
who thinks of everything
in a dirty way.
In 7th grade we took
some personality tests
- they were intriguing.
I’m a hustler
- the very opposite of a
procrastinator.
I take on future
projects early, impatient
to sandpaper issues.
It’s calming to
know why I stress - it helps me
navigate my fears.
While my friends are panicked
that SAT testing time is here
- I did mine last year.
It’s easier
to submit to the lash if
we know what drives it.
Being a teenager is hard.
You go to school
listen to people talk about you
They worry about your shoes.
They worry about if you “on fleek”
but they don’t know that you really
wanna play hide and seek.
People don’t understand the things that
teenagers go through.
Teenagers have a lot of peer pressure
and people are rude.
Teens have to deal with people who
think they’re better than everybody, even you.
Life of a teen nobody understands
Teens wish they had someone to
understand and someone to grab their hand.
Teens wish they could laugh and play
but now they have to Oh! watch their babies all day.
The world that we live is cruel
and filled with so many fools.
Teens, make sure they have good grades,
afraid about what their parents will say.
There’s a lot of violence and crime progressing
but there’s nobody doing any time.
In this world all you hear about are the gangs
and the guns that go bang!
Life of a teen you wouldn't understand
there’s nobody to grab our hand
It's not easy being me
At 16 the seniors life is far from heavenly
I'm ranked as a minor and portrayed as a thug
A young man just trying to make it in the world
The social network has me on the low grid
Just a "Wana Be" trying to come up and get big
It's all good i shrug and laugh it off
Constant pounding irons out the soft
Small comments truly don't phase me
But even steel bends when beat constantly
The mask is cracking and dark is invented
And i focus to make sure i don't vent it
The anger bred from an under ranked master
The rage fed to an underpaid senior
It's all good i shrug and laugh it off
Hiding the feelings with a quiet cough
The past is past i move on and keep my head up
Adjusting the mask and still trying to come up
I live the life of an outcast
Accepted in the area but hoped to move on fast
I always look for a way to prove it
But it seems that i can't quite do it
It's all good i shrug and laugh it off
I won't be remembered maybe I'll just "Get Lost"
Freedom light
Now and Then I wonder about life, and about death.
And then I start to ponder, and then take a deep breath.
I wrap my arms around myself, my head falls to my chest.
I give myself a warm embrace and wish all of us the best.
For life is now, and only now, which is the only way to live.
The sun will shine on you somehow, if you take and if you give.
And when it does you'll know it, the person you become.
And when you do you'll love it, and now it's just begun.
So take it all and use it up, do what you want to do.
Go down that road to fill your cup and you'll discover, too,
that life is free, alive with light, calling out for you.
Your sun and sky, your land and sea, are only for you to move.
Im the girl that never gets called pretty, I know it might not seem that important, but when everyone looks at you and stares like: Your some kind-of freak that nobody likes, That you were wishing to be buried alive, Do you know how it feels or is it just me, I try to fight this life to be the person I wanna be, and laughter in the distence, just makes me believe that I cant win this life that wants to follow me
Part 1
I write and write, but nothing changes/
I scream and scream, but my voice is silent/
I feel my life is written in stone/
Carved and written by my blood and bones/
You laugh and laugh, I think silent suicide/
You become ashes and smoke, your my cyanide/
You feel your life is written in stone/
We try and try, and we continue to try and strive/
We learn and learn, but as arrogant as a primitive tribe/
Our future, destiny, and life is written in stone/
Part 2
I read the stone slowly/
To analyze the thoughts and process life as I get older/
I understand the written language/
Because it is my thoughts and my soul/
That make me the fish out of the bowl/
I gasp for life, each second becomes precious/
I cannot escape what makes me... me/
I bleed upon the stone, which is written by my own blood/
When will the scar heal/
I am unsure of what to do
I'm speechless
I feel so isolated
I am unsure of where to find help
I'm very confused
I have no idea where I went wrong
My life seems monotonous
I can get a little exasperated sometimes
I am hopeful to find someone new
I've been emotional... I guess life moves on
The situation was painful
I am in need of talking to someone new
We lose our self in confusion to that one single person
We rule out all the others and select that distinct version
We do everything to make them our life and live in their
We starve to death but about their hunger we care
We only need your love and not some big favors or treat
We have ups and downs but that doesn’t put you under our feet
We don’t just want you to kiss us we want you to speak
We do want you to call in and not just once a week
Maybe not forever but we want you to hold our hand
Maybe it sounds selfish but I’m hard to understand
We aren’t kings we can’t afford to gift you a gem or a throne
But we get engaged, sealing you with a diamond, the eternal stone
We are selfless we can give up our life if that’s what your love cost
We do realize that every pulse in your absence is a fraction of life lost
It’s not a group I refer to when I say we, it’s only a person it’s only me
And you know it’s you I’m talking to, yes sweetheart who else can it be

I was beaten
With a belt or a hand
Time after time
When I supposedly did wrong
They never warned
Just did
They don't care
So why should I
This is my life story
And I've chosen
Chosen the dark road
They always pushed me
Told me to do my best
But my best was never goo enough
They beat
They yelled
But not once did they ever think
That it would effect me
From 1-13 I have no recollection of happiness
There's a gap of where my memories should be
This is my life story
Cut short
The moment
When your life flashes before you
Do you then realize what you've missed out on in life
Do you then realize who you true friends were
They didn't leave you behind
Every time you walked
Or totally ignore you to stare at their boyfriend
Though you get the whole boyfriend girlfriend thing
You shouldn't have to feel like a third wheel
Let alone a burden
The moment when you life comes to an an end
Do you then realize you never really lived
Do you the realize how scare you were to open up
To give someone your heart
And let alone fall in love
The moment when your time to go arrives
Do you realize that no one will miss you
The moment
