Modern day versions of lynching

They kept finding different ways to lynch us

Oh we're still spectacles
They just watch from their smartphones
Watching as we struggle
Watching us be tackled
They don't see us as victims
Just waiting for a pundit
To say we deserve it

Let's not forget about the 13th ammendment
Instead of being slaves they just entered our names in the system
As an excuse to reduce us to numbers
Instead of being slaves we were just labelled as criminals
Technically 'slavery' was abolished
So instead of being whipped
We were punished
With imprisonment
They just found a loophole
A different form of control

Don't get me started on the education system
A place where our history is hidden
A place of division
And preferential treatment
Of a certain race of students
They do it just enough
To remind us of our place in this institution
A constant reminder of how we will never fit in
All because our skin which triggers their racism

If you think racism has ended
Then you're choosing ignorance
You need to be educated
But us black people won't do it

The Acrostic

Spent a couple hours
On a puzzle from The Times,
An activity I almost like
As much as making rhymes.

I do the crossword daily,
Since it’s there in each edition
And work on it until my solving’s
Come to its fruition.

Yet on Sunday, in the magazine,
Some other puzzles wait,
Where varied types on different weeks,
In print, will alternate.

I tackled the acrostic,
Which is challenging and cool.
I usually finish
With a few tries, as a rule.

But today I was determined
And kept at it ‘til I finished.
Supposedly, this will not let
My brain cells be diminished.

Premium MemberPRAISE BE TO GOD FOR ENCOURAGING US TO WATCH FOR HIS COMING

October 12 Praises to God Bible Meditations Based on Matthew 25-26

Key Verse – Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

PRAISE BE TO GOD FOR ENCOURAGING US
TO WATCH FOR HIS COMING

Praise be to God for encouraging us to
watch for His coming with His:
Assurance from the Scriptures
Awakening against sinfulness
Affirmation of our salvation
Abounding satisfaction
Acts never secretive

Matthew 25:34 Praise be to the Lord for
welcoming us to inherit His kingdom with:
Triumph through His Word
Thanksgiving for His worthy will
Trust to His warmth in our worship
Testimony of our toiling in His workmanship
Truthfulness that we tackled trials by His ways

Matthew 26:10 Praise be to the Saviour for
noticing good work wrought upon Him with our:
Honesty for His honour
Happiness hoisted by hope
Holiness despite our hardships
Helpfulness toward the helpless
Humility against haughtiness’ hurrahs. Amen!

Wet and Wild

The shower is where we go to get dirty
A domain of filthy activity & debauchery
Together, we defile the sanctity of a shared space
An exercise for the well versed
Maneuvers that would make an acrobat blush
Water droplets mark the beginning of sensual hurricane
Swirled strokes to shake up the epicenter
Gripping the handles to hold onto dignity
Inhibitions tackled and thrown down the drain
Cleanliness, no longer lives between us
The shower, a whirlpool of emotions

              _____________________________________________

Upon the lower, unsophisticated surface
My shadow has arrived with a purpose.

How the blazing sun or frigid rain arrives.
How, the flight of honeybees to their hives,

Where it lies is lifeless, desolate, and bare.
The hilltops quake to the crest, unaware.

Who was the one who dreamed of the rose?
Believe not, the meteor's brilliance goes,

The sky is overcast, and clouds seem scary.
Days of sunshine and evenings are wary.

A snow speck that is moving in the air.
Everyone watches with a sneak peek stare.

Its value is tackled through a barn or hole.
The cosmos has swallowed me whole.

Narrow winds grumble through the day.
As the sun shines, grab my wings to fly away.

Often, nature—akin to us—is taken captive.
Grace of nature never fails to be attractive.

She wasn't wearing her diadem.
A sword, the ornament of which is a gem.

Premium MemberFantastic Four

Reed Richards, Mister Fantastic, a logical wizard,
Susan 'Sue', invisibly caused many a blizzard.
The human torch, Johnny Storm, who caused blaze-smouldering flames
Ben Grimm, the monstrous thing, who, with his stone-like flesh, played games

Traditions they trespassed; boundaries they bound; Chores ignored;
Subdued the subversives; tackled the terrors; caused concord;
The king rogue Doctor Doom, planet-devourer Galactus
The bleak realm's Annihilus... each they crack as though fractus

Brisk, like lightning or thunder; shape-shifting when needed;
Brim-filling optimism and integrity, well-wielded
They were, yet, true human beings with hearts of flesh and blood.
They could, however, survive midst dire drought or fatal flood.

As global celebrities, as unconventional friends,
And as invisible miracles with fulfilling ends
They expanded the Marvel Universe and its ventures.
With all spider-web-like intricacies and indentures

Premium MemberSardar Patel

Memoriam of the Great Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel
Who was the first Vice Prime Minister and Home Minister
United each petty kingdom and state and made them dwell
In a single unit, and thus he did administer...

Ironman, he was called, due to his determination.
Kings and kingdoms, like thatched huts of coconut leaves, he shook.
For a united nation, he had no hesitation.
For this, each and every possible means he undertook

We heard, as a barrister, when he was hearing a case
He happened to get a telegram and just kept quiet.
Death of his wife! Yet, as a man in war, he took his place.
Fraternally, he and Neheru tackled each riot.

We had such politicians those days, I'm sorry to say.
We lack such. Is this why we have to go the statue way...?

Premium MemberPeaks and Valleys

Everyone enjoys cruising easy street
Hits keep playing around the clock
Everything flawlessly falling into place
Puzzle pieces effortlessly interlock

Humming along until hit a speed bump
Your momentum derailed by a detour
Diverting your good vibes off track
Unsure if you will be able to endure

Then reminded of our ability to bounce back
That has craftfully carried us this far
Have tackled tough times like this before
Know that we'll be able to raise the bar

So now when we find ourselves in a rut
Realize that it is shallower than before
Because the bottom begins to get filled in
Restored with resiliency from our core

A Tiny Home Improvement

A tiny home improvement
Can instill a sense of pride
For your efforts are apparent
And results can’t be denied.

Taking charge and getting started
Are the hardest things to do,
But if things go as you’ve planned them,
All the credit goes to you.

So today I finally tackled
Unattractive kitchen shelves,
Adding bright new contact paper
Meant for folks to do themselves.

Every item got a cleaning
And a bunch of things got tossed
And the finished project’s worthy
Of the hours that it cost.

Just a minor home improvement
Yet I gave myself a gift
With some freshly covered shelving
And a lovely spirit lift.

Premium MemberPhotographing Turtle Cave At Sunset

worthwhile painters of sunsets tackled this romantic sky
turtles do not look up often, and their eyes are fuzzy
they might miss the colors, but they feel the richness of the day
turtle cave, a sanctuary for turtles in many sizes.

I stay my distance, photographing them with telescopic lenses.
my artist eyes take another peek at the fascinating pastel sky.
I return home with a plethora of photos, of the sunset.
each one a smidge different than the last; no one else sees it.

I dug my toes into the tile floors
through the custom issued socks
and ahead I looked at the psychs counter
and with energy and lift I would rock

I began to run while the guard looked on
he wondered what my actions would be
but a swift pursuit I had in mind
to fly in grace for all to see

Then as my feet left the ground
the guard forcefully tackled me
slamming my head into the counter
and then down to the floor half gracefully

A crowd of staff then jumped on me
and I hugged them back as I knew I would live
they gave me a shot that knocked me out
but I was glad it's what they give

I woke up in an MRI machine
and heard them talking of my arousal
but I would black out once again
only to awake on a psych ward bed

I ask myself should I have taken the flight
trying to fly right through the sky
but it is our flight or fight response
that keeps us from rolling the die

Premium Member'faith and Hope'

Again;
I find myself here where
 I breathe, wait and hope

Not faithless, not hopeless, not even fearful
But full of anticipation of what can happen
Life has proven that where hope is present
and where faith is evident
Even if I stumble
As long as I am breathing, there is still opportunity for change
Change for the better and a chance for growth
Adversity should be tackled with faith and hope

Night's Might

Whenever night comes, I do empty my worries
Till the next dawn of another day for music-
Listening to its pleasure in meter and rhythm;
Work out on papers while driving all thoughts a lorry...

Thinking of who created thought in its simple plight
When designation form its shape to writing pieces:
Which beautifies memories of heart's running stream
Where loneliness swims in care and cheer.

Why will I stay in prison?
When the door is so wide open
To the precious silent moments of the night
Where thinking can bring joy
And ease the pressure in meditation corner to store
The best way challenges are tackled for living

Night fans the smoke of my desires to flame
And there, I receive visions to own the future.

With your dad idling in a box stand for huge bucks.
Over time, you're fled with mates, proving plucks.
After all, swiftly, your kids start engaging in sport.
Over the eager mass, they may trap your caring snort.

The sensitive inner voice is voraciously unhappy.
A bird in an enclosure inside a parent's bravery!
It mused with sails when tackled with the ocean.
It stood back from the nest in awe for heaven.

It draped blaze in such a way to reach the moon.
And strayed the long-appreciated rules of the boon,
Also, hypothesize what our flawed eyes might follow.
From that ugly lofty position of vehement sorrow!

For the dirt's posterity, this is precisely madness.
To confide in ocean's furls their home excess.
We are thrust in the hardness of your wings.
Anyhow, the fore divided signs of airy plings.

If you're ripe to revere those who heaved you,
Besides, all other bodies sailing by your view,
And acclaim the person who conceives you from the void.
To arise as an idiosyncratic being, yet not decoyed.
