Cool breeze is clean
White winter's gone
Replaced by green
After their rests
Closed buds unfurl
Robins craft nests
Early sunrise
Cotton candy
Sweetens the skies
Take time to look
Open your eyes
Nature's new book
Your optimistic ways
always seem to brighten
my pessimistic days.
You know exactly what to say
to bring a smile to my face.
You are my soul's inspiration,
and your personal interpretations
about life and it's sweet sensations
make me appreciate more all
of God's creations.
This is why I cherish you
so much.
Your optimistic ways
always seem to brighten
my pessimistic days.
You make me think deeply
about God's Amazing Grace.
You make me better understand
if there's a will God will always
make a way.
I treasure your idealism.
It always sweetens my disposition.
You showed me how to make me listen
to your deep intuitions.
This is why I cherish you
so much.
Your optimistic ways
always seem to brighten
my pessimistic days.
You have helped me tremendously
to find my way through this journey
known as life.
Sometimes you feel like nothing good happens to you—
The Sky withholds its Blue—
Yet unnoticed—Morning passes
Bearing You—
The Orchard does not praise the Bee
That sweetens every Rose—
Nor does the Lamp recount the Dark
It softly overthrows—
You wait for Fortune—like a Guest
Who never learns the Road—
Unknowing—you are Bread and Fire
Along another’s Load—
The World keeps ledgers—bright with Gain—
But Mercy keeps no Score—
It writes its Blessings—silently—
On Doors you never saw before—
So if your Heart feels poorly paid
For all the Good you do—
Remember—God keeps better Books—
And often—Writes down the Good You do--
In every heart that opens wide,
there burns the flame
The beloved comes and goes,
but desire fans the flame.
They say that loss is grief,
but I have learned its grace:
Each absence is a prayer,
each memory a sacred flame.
Pour wine for what has passed!
The vintage sweetens with time
The years between us glow like embers of the same flame.
Your leaving carved a temple in the hollow of my chest
Where I tend the altar of what was, and bless the flame.
To love is to release
the bird, the season, the perfect word
And celebrate the flight,
the fall, the freedom in the flame.
In parting, we become more than we were in holding on:
The poet learns that loss itself can bear a singing flame.
Love sits heavy on my chest
a fever that sweetens pain
it warms the pain it cannot cure
and leaves me begging to feel again.
Each touch a promise half-fulfilled
each kiss a wound that softly bleeds
I call it joy, but deep within
it whispers sorrow’s silent creed.
Love asks for all yet gives no peace
a saint that smiles while watching burn
the hearts it claims to sanctify
a cruel teacher we never learn.
Still, I bow before its flame
for in the pain, I find my worth
love afflicts, but in its pain
we taste the beauty of this earth.
A crushed light ignored the barrens warped,
The portrait stretched its walled character,
Gambler garments malice of shown marked,
Wakes a loose parley of losers barked,
Drawn drank sense, of the disparager,
The darkened questioned, shaped silhouettes,
Of obscurities merit its due,
Glares moves a heap of token assets,
A lengthened armed shallowed some regrets,
Facedown with cards, the table knew,
Pictured paints like an artful dodger,
The enclosed grows taller than itself,
Outranked and owned outspoken codger,
Last-minute cribbed the homey lodger,
Marmalade sweetens right off the shelf,
A day begets a dawning nightfall,
The narrowed light cast a long shadow,
All turned their backs against the stonewall,
Except for the vague, zoned off-the-wall,
The latent unperturbed sort, John Doe.
Chocolate cream-covered cherries
Sweetens my sweet tooth sweetly
I moisten moistened morsels
But, somewhat indiscreetly
Naughty niblets now nestle
I nibble nice and neatly
Chocolate creams and cherry dreams
My sweet tooth spiced completely
A tree needs sun, water and soil
gives back its fruit...
and its shade
on a hot, sultry day
A bee needs a flower to pollinate
gives the world honey
sweetens life
soothes living souls
We too have our needs
our sun ---------------- the warmth of parents
our water and soil ---- their nurture
our flower ------------- their love
We too give back
our warmth
our nurture

COCOA
Cocoa drink decadence
Crème de la crème whirl whipped
Cinnamon r e s o n a n c e
Chocolate flavor sipped
Chopped finely semisweet
Carob powder sweetens
Cups up rich tasting treat
Long johns on with woolen socks and clothes layered on the body
fuzzy sweater and heavy blanket on lap with hot coco within reach.
Frisky dog wants to play as the cold makes them like puppies
toss her a biscuit and she runs away with the treasure in her mouth.
The wind howls and the chill permeates through weather sealed
windows and doors. The night was single digits and the day stays
below freezing. Old furnace hums along and does what it can.
In the kitchen a stew simmers on the gas top range while the smell
of breads and pies in the oven sweetens the houses air giving it the scent of
home. Throw another log on the fire if you had one instead pull the blanket
up to your chin as the dog jumps on your lap and curls for a nap.
Too cold for comfort is the stubborn chill lingers throughout the house.
The beanie on your head warms your ears as you click the TV on to see
the weather guy standing in the freezing wind telling you its cold,
switch the channel. Some days are good to do little but you get up
disappointing the dog who jumps back in the chair and curls into the blanket.
Things to do and movement warms the body but your nose still feels cold.
From this angle the bushes do not conceal them.
Are they hinged or unhinging?
Each body is a prison gate for the other,
both seem stuck together by a pungent lip spit.
Feathering fingers pulse-play over gulping skin.
Greedy eyes zoom in,
unbuckling muscles sift and trowel,
modelling the creaming and palpable.
This public act despoils the evening
yet it also sweetens.
I feel the need to rut,
to suck inward all this carnality,
to sup upon this liqueur of spiced flesh,
even though my cupped hands
remain regretfully or not,
unsullied.
My love for you is deeper than the sea
That stretches far beyond the horizon
And sparkles with a thousand stars at night
You are the sun that brightens up my day
The moon that guides me through the darkest hour
The breeze that cools me in the summer heat
You are the music that fills up my ears
The melody that lingers in my mind
The harmony that soothes my troubled soul
You are the fragrance that perfumes the air
The flower that blooms in every season
The honey that sweetens up my life
You are the reason that I wake each day
The purpose that inspires all I do
The joy that fills my heart with gratitude
You are my everything, my all, my love
The one I cherish more than words can say
The one I want to spend my days with you
The smell of your perfume,
sweetens the evening air.
The sparkle of your eyes,
lay my emotions bare.
A hint of your laughter,
makes my heart skip a beat.
A kiss from your soft lips,
fills me with burning heat.
A slight touch of your skin,
will burn me like a fire.
A whispered “I love you,”
will ignite my desire.
Like seconds on a clock,
forty-eight years have flown.
Throughout all those years,
our love has only grown.
I’ve no poet’s words,
to say what it’s meant.
To know such happiness,
has to be heaven sent.
Her assignment was to
create a balsamic? Olive oil glaze
for green onions , roasted yellow pepper, cucumber
to accompany a Sour crème and Cheddar Duchess potato
and a Medium Rare Prime Rib
with a tangy creamy herb gravy.
and a hazelnut Tart
with Cream Pastry and Mango
with a Sweet White Muscat de Frontignan wine
springform Pans
Flute Glasses
Pastry bags
whisks
heavy cream
Who sweetens these nights
might those labor that
there perfections
will make an
evening that much more specail..

I’m in awe of my memory…all those snapshots and movies it’s amassed…
Providing me with a simple way to revisit moments from my past.
I was visiting old friends this morning who across my memory have spread…
Smiling as their pictures and their movies danced inside my head.
I enjoyed watching the show…catching up with every him…and every her…
and it made me realize the beauty of memory is how it captures the way we were.
I was happy when I realized…after taking those memories out to play
how some of those friends from my memories…are still my friends today.
How we’ve all grown a little older…hopefully with dignity and grace…
How there is still a youthfulness behind our eyes despite more wrinkles on our face.
Which helps me see in old friends the beauty of this truth…
How they not only reveal the passage of time…
but remind us of our youth.
And when old friends get together…
when we’re fortunate enough to relive moments we all hoped would never end….
that’s when we realize nothing sweetens up a memory more…
than the laughter of old friends.
