Triggers are red,
barrels are blue.
Smith and Wesson
I love you!
Targets are set,
guns are sighted.
In my hand,
I get excited!
Bore snakes out
Hoppe’s too
be good to them
they’ll be good to you!
NB: I have a great photo of my grandson's team with their SCTP Nationals Trap Shooting trophies, but PS will not allow me to upload it. Your loss. LOL. There are no shotguns in the picture, but a depiction of one on the trophies. (I can upload any other picture from my library or off the Web, unless it shows guns or shooting - how very liberal. Pity, it is a great sport, as are other types of shooting competitions.)

Have you noticed how technology
Is more pervasive in the world of sports?
From the equipment to the playing fields,
Even their shoes ... and look at the shorts.
I can remember the days when basketball players,
Showed all legs from snug-fitting wear.
While today, high-tech fabrics surround them,
Like loose sheets that won't impair.
And now baseball players are much more athletic,
Rarely will you see a physique like Babe Ruth.
As they seek to train harder and consume the best
Nutrition, far less partying, and that's the truth.
Also now, we can see the rules of football evolving,
Seeking to be safer and more humane.
To the point where touching a quarterback is practically
Criminal, and using your head may damage a brain.
Yet athletes will always compete and seek that
Elusive leverage to be the best they can be.
Though the rules may provide fewer tools,
As they try to outsmart technology.

Today West Ham Went Berserk
And Bournemouth Lost Its Shirt
No Need for A Cover
Since Jason Was Sent Home to His Mother
So Far, Its Four
That the Hammies Have Scored
This Will Put A Little Space
In the Stay Out of Relegation Race
A New Coach Is Here In Spirit
And The Supporters Let Them Hear It
Hopefully He Knows How To Steer
As Everyone Cheers
But Honestly What Will West Ham Do
With This Athletic Job That Was Real Cool
An Olympic Year Is Hear, What Could Be the Fear
Must It Be Chatter About Building Costs That Matter
With the Stadium Finished in Japan
West Ham May Want to Make Good with Its Fan
Money and Goals Are Hard to Come
And We Enjoy These Two Things Since They Are Fun
So, Keep It Going My Dear Hammies
And Next Time Lets Do Another Slammy
For the Enjoyment of The Fannies

Arrogance of a Sporting God
Is it arrogance, that makes him so good,
Or being so good, that makes him arrogant.
Shirt off, chest out, displays egotistic swagger,
Pompous superiority, somewhat self-evident.
Can you idolise a man without humility?
Even if he’s pure genius, a sporting God.
With wealth and power verging on obscene,
Boots of Gold upon his feet are shod.

re-post inspired by Brenda's contest
THE HERO
Every Tuesday on the dot,I would be off to the newsagent like a shot.A solitary
sixpence, all my wealth to pick up my favourite comic from his shelf. Not the
Beano,Beezer,Dandy or Eagle...the Hotspur and Wizard were my kings regal. To
read of my hero W W Wilson,the wonder man,sporting giant extraordinaire,batted
bowled and ran.
Soccer ,cricket were a piece of cake,he left all others in his wake.Give him the
ball and the game was soon over,he even outscored Roy of the Rover.Bowling
right armover,on a sixpence seven times from eight, well above average Wilson
was incredibly great. He'd bowl all day at one twenty an hour, never stopping to
take shower!
In futuristic black body suit,an English record breaker without dispute. My
inspiration,this imagined prince,never bettered then,before or since!

It is fourth down and goal to goal from fifty yards away
They’ve flickered the lights for last call; I must score on this play
I haven’t hit a home run for over an entire year
The fans are sitting on their hands; they’ve forgotten how to cheer
I look deep into blue eyes, trying to read her soul
Lining up for the penalty kick, I need to score this goal
We’ve been sitting here at the bar for over three hours
Delay of game penalty flags upon me start to shower
I finally get up the nerve to offer up a pitch
It comes in high and outside, this sailing tack I must switch
She has given me her number and said that I should call
I need a strike in this last frame so all the pins can fall
I ask her home to my place, offering up a Hail Mary pass
The checkered flag is in front of me, but I’m running out of gas
Will I score; win the game; finish in first place
Or is this sprint a marathon and the fox I still must chase

He sports the clothes
He sports the Lamborghini
He sports the popularity
He sports the truth of a good life
He sports the image of a stuck
up spoiled teen
He sports the good looks
He sports the impression of a dream life
He sports the obsession of his masculinty
He sports the look of a "get it all" type
He sports this and he sport that but the thing is
what we can't see is that his life isn't what it seems

It maybe the words we use
not something that we see,
that makes it seem so strange
but maybe it's just me.
In cricket you have a square leg
football teams have wings,
with tennis a forearm is smashed
and golfers play with swings.
Then there's American football
played with a ball out of shape,
and athletes run for miles
to see who can break a tape.
Boxers have a ring with corners
wrestlers use a hammer lock,
baseball is played on a diamond
and badminton with a shuttlecock.
Gymnasts always act as though
they are throwing some kind of fit,
and motor racing drivers
have to drive into a pit.
Sport was for recreation
supposed to be just a game,
now they've become big business
and they're not at all the same.

And as if...you could stand naked in front of others...
Do to all the laws...it better be important...
So this crazy thought of standing naked...any clues...
Something you missed growing up...seen something in a yard sale...
All this time...now nature calls...
If it comes down to it...how many can you get to join you...
Then you could get into the law books...how about doing a sporting event...
If your under twenty-five...it'll be new...
But the over forty crowd...is use to it...
It's nothing to see it all...It's the thrill...
Or is something more...how about a dare...
Would you dare...to show it all...
Let the world see what you've got...crazy this is not...
For to get passed the security and remove all...
That takes knowing how long the law will take to get to you...
So it important to know the law and when to run...
The second best part is how many will join you...
That just like holding a sporting event...
