the forest man

The forest man

He had bought a cabin in the woods near a lake
he planned to go there after his divorce
with no demand on his time, life would be simpler
first of all, he needed a dog, the one he had
was a poodle, his ex-wife could take the mooch
he needed a strong dog that could feed itself
catching rabbits in the glen
The cabin only had one room, a big room he could
make a kitchen in a corner, for the he needed
a hand pump and dig a Hole for a cisterna.
bedroom and living room together was ok, he had
a sofa bed but needed a couple of chairs
He also had to build a shed, an empty plastic
drum to sit on and empty his own effluence twice
a week
So much to do!
perhaps he should get one more dog, the one
offered him by a farmer, had a white snout liked
to sit on the sunny side and snooze
he had to remember to buy tins of dry dog food
to buy provision, he needed transport, a mule
would do, so he had to build a stable
No electricity, so he had to buy batteries and candles
so much to do!
I met a forest man in a tavern he had a cabin in
the woods, near a lake, for sale.

Years Flow By

I watch my years flow by
from chair, from sofa, bed.
I watch my life go by.

And life sees me go by -
my folks, my friends, my pals.
How long will this go on?

What do they think of me
as they can see me pass
so swiftly, this way, that?

Little life goes by
from chair, from sofa, bed.
What now is there to see
as I watch life go by?

Premium MemberWhat If

I laid my back on the soft sofa bed
To draw myself out from stress and sadness
But inklings with regrets whirled in my head.

Was dreaming to become a deaconess
For a full-time worker in God’s service
What if I’d pursued, workloads bring lightness?

Less kids at Sunday schools, I’m more at ease
No lesson plans… just teach bible verses
Play the hymns on church organs without cease.

What if I’d become one of the nurses
Taking care of patient and not grader
Lots of patience, but no hugs and kisses?

What if I would be a teacher forever
Rejuvenation comes once in a while
To play with kids as friend, sis and mother?

As my thoughts swirled, I gave myself a smile
I laid my back on the soft sofa bed
Rejuvenation comes once in a while
But inklings with regrets whirled in my head.

Mans Best Friend

A slobbering smile
A loving stare
A sofa, bed and floor
Covered in hair

A morning stroll
A paw in the air
Waiting for a tummy rub
A bear with a tear

Jumping in puddles
Biting at the rain
Itching their bum on twigs
Eyeballing Great Danes

Tapping their paws
When dinner is coming
Chasing their ball
Tail constantly drumming

A subtle growl
To warn the unknown
Snoring and twitching
On her throne

A collar that jingles
As they enter the room
A snuggle
A sneeze
A fight with the broom

A nightly routine of
Coming to say goodnight
From my side to your side
They love you with all their might

For dogs they are precious
Too precious for this world
They meet you and greet you
Spinning around they twirled

The loyalty they show
Truly unbeaten
Mans best friend
Our life they sweeten..

Sofa Bed Saga

Our brand-new sofa bed got stuck.
It wouldn’t open; just our luck.
Our daughter slept upon it twice,
But not last night. Here’s my advice:

If underneath a sheet you use
A mattress pad before you snooze,
Be sure, if on the fold-up kind,
No sheet or pad gets left behind.

We think that pad is somehow caught
Within the springs; we toiled for naught.
Today we’ll ask for an assist;
Our super’s help we will enlist.

A small mistake but we got burned.
Yes, “haste makes waste” – the lesson learned.

Lyrics by Jerry Thomas Curtis

Better Than The Rest

Some think she has a crooked nose
And real sad sleepy eyes
Her hips they said, had to have spread
To compensate those thighs
But I just think, those things are there
To put me to the test
To see if I would realize
She's better than the rest

She didn't come from money
But I wouldn't say's she's poor
When I see her on that sofa bed
I couldn't ask for more
My friends say find a better girl
I say "You be my guest"
Cause I tell you now, straight from my heart
She's better than the rest

           chorus
They say that she's not good enough
For a cover of a magazine
But went she holds me, late at night
She's my beauty Queen

            repeat
She didn't come from money
But I wouldn't say's she's poor
When I see her on that sofa bed
I couldn't ask for more
My friends say find a better girl
I say "You be my guest"
Cause I tell you now, straight from my heart
She's better than the rest

              chorus

They say that she's not good enough
For a cover of a magazine
But went she holds me, late at night
She's my beauty Queen

My Dream House

HOUSE-a lovely place to share affection.
that is the root from where relation grows.
one day, a fine time it will become a tree.
a wonderful garden at the front and backside of house.
with colorful flowers at front
and sweet fruits and healthy vegetables at back.
a white stony pebbles way which,
leads to the garden park,
which is the place of peace.
a swing in the middle of garden,
keeps us thinking about the ups and downs of life.
house fully painted with white,
indicates the peace.
glassy windows which helps us to
watch the outside world, inside the house.
curtains,sofa,bed,etc., everything is of white
which always tells us to be peace
and to maintain silence and patience.
peace and patience will increase our love,
which makes our relation ship strong and more stronger.
and that's what is the aim of my dream house.

Having a Guest

We do not have a guest room,
Though we’re waiting for a guest;
And even if we had one,
I don’t think she’d be impressed.

Our visitor’s low-maintenance;
She has no strong demands.
The lack of guest-room privacy
We know she understands.

What’s utmost in importance
Is the chance for her to schmooze.*
She could have stayed in a hotel,
But that’s not what she’d choose.

We try to make it comfortable,
Despite our lack of space.
A sofa bed is where she’ll sleep,
But here’s the saving grace:

At least she knows she’s welcome here.
Our arms are open wide;
And everything she really needs
We’re happy to provide.

It’s not the Ritz, so luxury
Is what we surely lack,
But somehow it must be okay,
‘Cause she keeps coming back!

A Reading

I went to hear a writer read
And boy, was I surprised!
The attendance was quite sparse, despite
It being publicized.

I love her writing, read her books
And it was so exciting
To see her in the flesh and listen
As she read her writing.

She answered several questions then
Prepared to sign her latest.
I didn’t stay, although this book
Is probably her greatest.

‘Cause even though I am a fan,
The library is where
I find the books I curl up with
On sofa, bed or chair.

I feel a little twinge of guilt;
I cannot quite deny it.
The author’s reading of her book
Was just to make us buy it.

But still, I made it to the store
To show some fan support.
I did what I could do, and yet
I feel I came up short.

Reverse Psychology

I don't quite get it
I can't quite follow your mind
I sit
and wait'
hand and foot for you
and you can't even remember a date
I sense your sly stealthiness
the day when you left me for good
doesn't come yet cause right now your before me
not even looking me in the eye
I almost despise you
if it wasn't for your money I'd sure be out
without a fuss,
without a single cuss
cause you just make me sick.
I thought I could work through the little things,
now you've forgotten and amped up the volume
I'm on mute,
with you as the remote
and you sit and gloat
on your sofa bed
cause I kicked you out of bed,
you're getting me so misread,
I've had enough of this
I can't even try or pretend I want to kiss
because I don't.
And maybe, just maybe
this is all for revenge
but with this intrigue
and a liaison at hand
I'm already gone
I have been for these whole 6 months

Apartment 2646

It was the way
my leg felt against
the cold rail of the
sofa bed that
made stars tickle
the tip of my tongue

and it was the way
a dare can stop a heart
that made my skin
tingle as you closed
your eyes not knowing

and it's the way
you felt me with
such tenderness
and strength
together
that made me
crave you so

it was the way
your bitten mouth
danced with the
music to a song
I know by heart and
wandered the valleys
without
leaving evidence
of ever being there

Painful Questions

What painful questions wives can ask,
so finding the right answers can be a task.

How to make your husband feel distraught,
must be something all daughters are taught.

For you often wonder what they want you to say,
especially when the topic area is gray.

But say something wrong and you’ll be dead,
expect to be sleeping on the sofa bed.

The usual snare is how do I look tonight,
safely say beautiful and you’ll be all right.

Then she will ask if it appears she has gained weight,
lie if you have to and say she looks great.

There is one question you must elude,
for it could cause a serious feud.

Do you think that woman over there is pretty,
but don’t try and answer with something witty.

Because she will assume the answer is yes,
but likewise control the urge to confess.

No matter what you do or try,
she’ll always believe it is a lie.

So just accept the fact that you can’t win,
because of painful questions women ask men.

Extreme Makeover

Yesterday I bought a dream
a little worn out at the seams
I got it from the Goodwill store
someone left it by the door

I threw it on the sofa bed
to make a cushion for my head
to fluff my fantasies tonight
and make the endings
come out right

  I've furnished every room
this way
I find a little every day
A hope,a dream ,a true belief
I always pay
I'm not a thief

I know it's not a surefire cure
but I need mental furniture
you see I lost mine in a flood
a Holocaust of breath and blood

so that's why I need everything
a wish,a prayer,the thoughts of spring
I hate this emptiness within
let's move this bus and start again!
