Just two more hours till the Royal Ball
Alas, this zit wouldn't fade at all
Since no ointment would ease
I just gave it a squeeze
It crackled, then it spackled the wall
I knew soon that company would call
But how to hide that goop on the wall
Left no clues with my clothes
Wiped the ooze from my nose
Looks like I'll make the Ball after all

brave ant marches forward
dog does not notice
wait
a flying thing
dog jumps up
tries to snap it in his mouth
snap snap snap
he might be sorry If he captures this bee

With life’s motif mélange
time wheel turns in last lap.
Dreams’ scenic spectrum shifts,
spins captured in mind’s trap,
framed as timeless trance in
kaleidoscopic snap.

I'm not like you
you're not like me
on that
you and I
we can agree
but
strange to say
and there's no mystique
Snap!
we're really all the same
in that...
we are all unique!

suddenly i felt
a burst of warmth
as if liberated
i had the wings to fly
entwined as one
in perfect harmony
together in synchronicity
with the universe

Dry logs redden and snap;
The fire is soon impressive.
The wolf moon takes better shape
As night begins to settle in.
I watch the conflagration spike;
A spark flies off, then others
Like the universe had coaxed them
To become one of the stars.

It’s not for lack of intelligence
My inhibitor is on the fritz
A frontal lobe phenomena
I’m prone to gaffes and fits
My amygdalae are loaded
A hair trigger set to snap
Sometimes words escape me
Like rats outsmarting a trap

Snap of The Past Forgotten
A fragile snapshot trapped in time,
A smile etched deep within my mind,
One moment captured, yet so profound,
An image shared, yet now all alone.
As memories fade like morning dew,
What once seemed clear becomes a blur,
And through we yearn for those golden days,
We hold onto love, through it may pass away.
Thus speaks our ode to ephemera,
To moments that vanish without a trace,
A testament to life's true essence,
Embracing fleeting beauty, never to cease,
Treasured in the end.

I bought a winter coat today;
It didn’t have a tag,
But when I asked the price, it was
A bargain I could snag.
It fit me to a T, although
Another coat in black
Is something that I do not need,
Though I could take it back.
I tried it on again at home;
My husband gave the nod,
Yet in the pocket was a snap,
Which I found rather odd.
My fingers followed all the snaps
To see if one was gone.
Alas, the collar just had half;
No snapping could go on.
Instead, there was a little hole
Where once that snap was sewn,
A defect that decided that
This coat I would not own.
Most likely she who ripped it
Did return it on the sly,
Where it remained for someone
Unsuspecting (me!) to buy.
The next time there’s that little voice
That tells me, “You don’t need it!”
Instead of just ignoring it,
I think I might just heed it.

chasing you
I left me
like I do
when I'm chasing a
hungry ghost
scrawny
with a distended belly
that's never full
however much
it devousr
nothing outside
fills what's empty
inside
longer than
the dopamine rush
it neglect itself
to sustain
as empty as
the bars I haunted
before you
these aren't the poems
I want to write
I long to be
alone tonight
with the stars
the moon
and the wind
wafting down
from a snow cap
smoke swirling up
like a cat's tail
flicking smoldering embers
sparking the night
with fire flies
snap crackle pop
I'm free (again)
from the trance
of the hungry ghost
I'm content
with the one
I most
need to know

DO NOT PROD THE SLEEPING BEHEMOTH
For in his wake, all donned in hope
Torn enraged to tattered shreds of cloth
Matters not to the blood lusting oaf
Crimson tinted visions
Through obstreperous milky orbs
View a costly vital decision
One any could ill afford
Be urged to tiptoe in silence
Round the pent up snoring goon
For he's dreamt for moons of wreaking violence
Drooling over your doom
I beg you leave slumbering demons in peace
If he could he would beg you the same
For all who've succumbed to his clenching of teeth
Have lived not to surmount the shame

A photograph can be deceptive,
It only takes one view,
It doesn't show the inside
Only a still picture of you.
A photo doesn't move,
It is not animate in any way
Kept in a frame
Ageless, it will stay.
The photographer says, "smile",
Or some tell us to say "cheese."
In a little while
All those smiles will freeze.
Trapped forever
In a photo frame
None of us will ever
Look like that again.

Some folks make decisions
Without thinking, in a snap,
Especially when options,
Unexpected, hit their lap.
I envy that ability
To quickly take a chance
Instead of being mired
In a yes-or-no type dance.
Most things that we decide won’t change
The course our lives are on
And opportunity not grabbed
May vanish and it’s gone.
While others try to snatch the ring
Life’s carousel goes past,
My horse goes up and down while I
Stay seated, holding fast.
