If Trump were to croak, say, by choking on a slice of papaya,
how long before his ilk would see it as a heavenly sign and run it by a
biblical scholar who would then be given the imperative
to scour the Bible to come up with a plausible narrative
to prove that Trump's death

The Last Slice

A velvet-heavy, honey-spiced cake
sat on a table spread vast.
soft enough for fingers to disappear into,
dense enough to still
even the most restless tongues.
Its candles flickered like stars.

No one asked who baked it.
No one wondered how long the oven stayed warm.
They just took— with knives that glinted like treaties,
with fingers that didn’t wait for plates.

Frosting smeared like

A whole pizza but a slice

Maternal never came natural to you
But laugh we did, crazy things you would do,
You caused so much angst, guilt and tension,
But my mother you were, with your fair complexion,
Years went by and we muddled along more
My tears mostly dry, almost closed the door
Beautiful you were I see this all now,
Wish you could see

AoTEARoa aka New Zealand

Spine chilling velocity
Willing feverish ferocity
Pollution spilling atrocity
Pushes our buttons
Top billing forging
Fiendish drilling pomposity
Gluttons gorging in the isles of muttons

Coining the term “purloining”
Plunder even here down under
Cast asunder..can hear the thunder
In the proud land of
The long white cloud

Scold from the fold to heal
But won’t listen..do a deal
Gaudy gems appeal..glisten
History sold for pieces of gold

Cower to

Premium MemberNo Matter How You Slice It

Where to cut it? It all depends.
If you take too much off the ends,
you will waste a lot of money.
This vegetable's expensive honey -
but if you err the other way,
you'll be chewing half the day.
Make a decision. Have some guts.
Where to slice asparagus?

A slice of harmony

Slouching, sleepy in the little arm chair, eating cake,
Our country on the screen, there isn’t much at stake.

Drowning out the tacky tunes with our laughter,
It’s harmony, you see, that everyone is after.

Harmony, like this, in your living room together,
Flags and funny costumes, it’s times like this, nothing’s better.

Maybe peace is best achieved through art,
Oh Europe, please

keep

Premium MemberSlice of Cake

Ever been treated like you’re a slice of cake?
By the kind of sleazy men that slither like a snake?
They’re not the type to give
They’re the kind that always take.
Know your worth, be strong, pay attention, stay awake.

This is what I say to men who think they are so slick.
“I’m a lady, not a hoe,

Premium MemberSlice of Heaven

Today, l believe l saw little slice of heaven on earth
In the midst of the Yorkshire Dales
Driving through narrow winding country roads
Surrounded by the grandeur of magnificent green vales

Never have l seen such splendour
As these undulating sculptured fields of art
Embracing my being with indescribable joy
Wrapping loving hands around my heart

No words l have within me
Can

remember when the other day there was only a slice of

We are all on borrowed time
Yet we constantly search for
The next step in our climb

Ponder pausing the pursing
Taking a moment to slow down
To divert us from all the doing

May realize how blessed we are
Rejoiced to relish in the present
In lieu of perpetually raising the bar

This sliver of time and space
Will
