Question any advice from a friend at 1:12 a.m.
— it’s probably unsound—
but better than staring at the ceiling with your thoughts.
The solution to existential dread is just… outfits and vibes.
Last night, as I slept like a baby - or a log - or a baby log -
I dreamt of vintage Gap dresses and 80s ivory pink glam glitter cocktail frocks.
Sometimes the only available response to civilization is
to buy an imaginary vintage Gap dress and call it coping.
And for some reason, I dreamt, briefly, of Trump as Jesus.
If sleep fails to restore the mind, at least it deals vivid
images to decorate our unconscious unease.
Trump thinks of himself as Jesus—but the question is:
Has Trump actually read the Bible?
Maybe Trump doesn’t know what happened to Jesus.
Spoiler: the Romans got cross with him.
Some jokes are so stupid—they have to be true.

The Bible (1966) directed by John Huston
It was the weirdest conversation two people ever made
Well, maybe not the weirdest, but weird by at least one shade
How does your giraffe sleep? The older lady inquired.
We are not sure, he hides from us, said the maid she hired.
Ours sleeps with his head on the ground, his feet in the air.
It’s an embarrassment, she told her. All the neighbors stare.
I will have to figure it out, the younger woman said.
But I am pretty sure he sleeps as soundly as if he is dead.
Does he wear pajamas? Does he brush his enormous teeth?
Not sure of that either, said the other. But she soon felt relief.
Because her giraffe curled up and slept like a baby in a nest.
Letting her family and her grouchy husband get all kinds of rest.
Billy boy Morris was known for dropping a clanger
He bought a new car that was a complete banger
Prone to making at least a mistake once a day
Is it best to ignore him and keep out of his way ?
Billy boy Morris had a good steady job in a bank
If an extra fiver received to Billy you should thank
Catching the bus home was a catastrophe too
For he caught the wrong one that's certainly true
The meal he prepared was in the oven too long
Poor Billy boy Morris always got things wrong
One thing however he always got right
He slept like a baby each and every night
Sleepless in Cascais
It was a strange night
Couldn’t sleep thoughts and images
Kept churning around and I was
Horrifyingly awake.
This is pointless, got up and drank
Several glasses of water, my brain
Was talking to me and I had no answer.
To distract myself I watched TV, till
Four in the morning slept like a baby
Until noon, the past is a bleak territory.
They say you’re only as young as you feel
And I say, that can’t be right, can’t be real
I may think like a person twenty-three
But walk like a person with a bad knee!
When I was young I slept like a baby
Now sleep thru the night, well only maybe
My spine was once as straight as a tall tree
Now standing up straight is a chore for me!
I’ll avoid all mirrors when possible
My insides are good, outside horrible
I try hard to look as young as I think
When others see that, I’m met with a wink!
This trying to look young is only an act
I am what I am, and that is a fact!
the fire encircled me
n i was melting
away into a vanishing mass
burnt into ashes, then
wake up like like a phoenix later
i knew i slept like a baby
her persistent warmth,the
enthusiasm of the youth the
loving enquires n the innocent
bashfulness awoke me
up from the deep slumber
the sun has come on
shining brightly
on top of our heads, looking unto her
my eyes blurred
and the tears of joy rolled down the cheeks
i could feel her emotions ,her thoughts now
clairvoyance
Aged and mellowed, golden whiskey in a wide mouth Mason jar.
Poured over sweet rock candy, was the guaranteed cure,
of ticklish throats; sprained ankles; hair loss; hang nails and more.
Always kept on hand, for times of desperate need,
of which Grandpa had a profound proclivity for.
No glass nor tablespoon was needed to dispense this elixir.
Just twist the ring, pop the lid, up end the jar and let it slide
down your parched throat..ummm, I mean, soar throat.
I remember well, my first bout with laryngitis at the age of seven.
Grandpa hurried off, to get the magical jar of homemade "Cure".
Minutes later, he came in, carrying the jar like a precious jewel.
Pouring some of that honey hued nectar into a large serving spoon.
Tasting it first, making sure it hadn't gone bad, of course.
Then he slipped the spoon edge between my lips.
Boy-howdy, my eyes watered, I coughed for a spell.
Then slept like a baby.

I bought a pair of
off-brand running shoes today.
The impoverished man who made them, the man who birthed them sole to tongue in
some third-world hellhole slept like a baby that night after sewing
steadfast at machine no. 21 all day and into the night.
He was too
tired to make love to his young wife and
she was ovulating.
I am become fate,
decider, a
two dollar bathroom-machine rubber.
I have become Hadrian's latex wall, and
I have changed the course of history.
Hmmm...

Choked me to death he did!
Oh...no pun intended!
Brought her own pillows too,
teddy bears
A real girly girl this one
She smells like a baby...
I like her!
She gives me a workout!
She's always moving.
Always seem to have visitors...
the docs stay quite a while here too...
She laughs a lot...that's good
Haven't had many laughers
Two surgeries and still moving...
Wow!
She cried a few times
I was her support
Had to...she smelt good! :-)
Was there for the tests,
probes, baths...
she did ok then!
Was there for the Pop's going
...slept like a baby!!
Hmmm...
I'm being stripped!
No more baby soft.
Uuuuuffff....man you is a big fella
....Great you fart!!
