Tell me that you think I'm Special,
While I'm hog-tied to the trestles
As I await the train to crush my pain-
Too many Demons have I wrestled!

You bought a baby lion
And you didn't tell
Then you made me watch as you wrestled it
You laughed and blinked
A fateful blink for that was your last
Off you fell to your chilling lust.

I opened the can
to throw the garbage in
and the stuff in it jumped out at me
and wrestled me to the ground
and covered me all over
to breath
to be heard
to be seen
to love
no more

Free verse
From a threadbare reverie
Of nights disheveled
An aching solitude grates
Betrayal wrestled--
Howl endures love’s stain
As rage bears cold quietude
Words cannot explain.

Gone into the night,
She stood to a fight,
She wrestled the assailant,
Who was prevalent
on people of her age and time,
All she gave with not much a dime,
She fell into his hand,
And went to forever land.

strange, I vaguely recall
the sad joy of returning,
of being back to a place
I can't remember
leaving...
where I must have writhed
in pain with the ache to stay,
wrestled with, but lost to, the
urge to leave, and stay
away.

Blank verse
In his science
he wrestled
With my verse
just the same
As his numbers
refigured
The words
I renamed
Two roads
to one place
Distant windows
one light
Time still to
confound
Albert’s shadow
so bright

Ballad
You were holding me so tight,
I could’nt breath
But in a crowded room I did’nt want to be
I struggled and wrestled against you
As I pleaded please release me let me go
Finally you dashed out into the foyer
Whoosh! Yippee!
I am a naughty little air bubble that just got free

Flowers bloom within garden of hearts
Lovers swim through sea of tears
One and only One Light liberating
We wrestled with Poseidon from oblivion.
Enter zephyr breeze of rebirth -
Roses or arrows, we choose the clearing, as
Song of rain beneath skylight, forgave.

He's such a cute little dog
enjoys it, when you play around
his chew rope he loves to hog
loves being wrestled to the ground.

We've had Scamp now for almost 6 months. We adopted him from the SPCA, just down the street from where we live.

When I wander my steps you guide...
When I am sad you comfort my furrowed brow.
You have wrestled men to submission and placed them in the belly of a great fish.
Hope beyond all hope to be a servant of our gracious king.
He is worthy to be praised; He alone can save!
A comforter and peace He left us by His greatness.

Didactic
Arrayed as victim,
Loaded against her all dice,
Rose stood, her face grim.
Her virtues vain versus vice,
All mute was she like frost ice.
Versus vice of thorns
Her virtues wrestled for voice,
He wins who has horns,
And poor Rose had little choice,
Cornered, she lost poise.

The Ocean and Me
I told the ocean
Give them back
The people walking out of the sea
An army they couldn’t see coming
I told the ocean
Tell the tales so no one
Would cry
That they were silenced by water
Buried by waves
Cry to me
I told the ocean
Be easy, let me walk
On you
Bask in you
Fearless and free
Save me
Finally I wrestled
The deep
But the ocean won

Running
6-14-2016
Tom
I wrestled with darkness, searching for light,
Having worldly things housed in my coffer.
At next cockcrow became my last flight,
My broken heart was all I had to proffer.
Then all at once a conversion came about,
I began to weep and didn’t understand.
But immediately knew I wouldn’t bail out,
My heart was stirred by God’s loving hand.

Lyric
then there came the fiery one,
red headed rancid Reeta,
she threw hot coals into his bed,
an flew on him the cheater,
they wrestled and they fought like dogs,
but she was fierce with anger,
the smoke n fire did billow, fog,
burning flesh ere the manger,
so they sprang into the icy sea,
made love till they were soggled,
Odin looking down, with a tiny frown,
dubbed em hairy Gog n Magoggle

Ballad
I snapped decision in half to find
the other half of what was mine
to make, to break to slip knot twine
the future 'round my finger.
It wrestled me down to the ground
without a noise, without a sound,
and tangled me 'till tightly wound
around decision's finger.
I struggled with my mind and might
I chose to win, but lost the fight
and still you'll find me wrapped up tight
as indecision lingers.

He threw at her the black of night
And then the fire of day
Roared as of a hurricane
With avalanching speed
She crackled as a lightning bolt
Within a thunderstorm
And then unleashed – in torrents
The cyclones of her wrath –
With violence they wrestled long
And raged the heaving seas
Hurled the stone of Sisyphus
At Scylla and Charybdis
And in the tempest, tooth and blood
Together bested love –

I've wrestled great whites,
plucked tail feathers
from swooping eagles,
stared down a Sumatran tiger,
laughed at black bears,
& with one punch
decked an angry hippo,
caressed to exhaustion
writhing boas,
pleased to punch
deadly black widows,
& overcome with smiles
protective lion mothers,
to spend the next four years
facing off
with that
deluded idiot-child
the great orange one,
will be
an
utter
breeze.

I ache to return to where my soul
may at last find my elusive self
and once again be truly whole.
I must heed the old ocean's call
echoing in my brain, telling me
so quietly, "I am one, I am all."
Vaguely, I recall the joy of returning,
of being back again to a place
I can't remember ever leaving.
I writhed in pain with the ache to stay,
fiercely wrestled with, then lost to
the urge to leave and be away.

I have trained my whole adulthood for the challenge of this day.
The toil and sweat and sacrifice, the monotony of drill,
All those years of manning up to my ambition.
I have wrestled the beast and disciplined my will.
I mean to vanquish my opponent for the golden prize
I'll enter the ring and trust my luck to fate.
I have trained my whole adulthood for the challenge of this day.
When I rise again come dawn, I will reiterate.

Verse
The deep wounds and scars of the past
The rigours and torment of the present
The blurry and scary pictures of the future
Like a stampeding Buffalo have destroyed my morale
Leaving me in the cave with the serpent of risky thinking faculty
With depression I have struggled
With thoughts of suicide I have wrestled
Guess it is time to gain freedom from this burning and tormenting pain
Guess it is best to end it all now...

Our baby is ten months old
Today I heard a loud clinking sound in his mouth
Chased him around the room
Wrestled it out of there
It was a pair of eyeglasses
One lens was gone
I hope they are my readers from the dollar store
I have nineteen pairs of them lying around the house.
If they were my husband’s bifocals, I had better stay mum
Baby dug up the asphalt driveway last month
An English cream retriever, who cannot leave anything alone.

Strangely, as in a hazy dream,
I remember the joy of returning,
of being back to a place
I can't remember leaving,
back where I must have writhed
in anguish with the ache to stay
and fiercely wrestled with, then lost to
the urge to leave and be away.
Now I hear and must heed
the ancient Ocean's silent call
that softly echoes in my brain,
telling me, "I am one, I am all."
