Intrigued By Mystery Woman
she stepped out of the shadows and wowed me.
I had never seen such beauty in real life, only on the big screen.
I followed her around, making up stories....

Spring Wing
Early in the morning
The sun will rise
April showers
Will bring all the flowers
The flowers will start to bloom
They will bloom and go wowed
They won’t scatter because of that April shower...

Loud Librarian
LOUD LIBRARIAN
And the deaf librarian is too loud.
She slings a piercing shrill into the crowd.
The books fly off shelves.
Do they blame themselves?
The Library of Congress, she’d have wowed!

Whistling For Wanda

Confetti Sunset
Last eve's sunset wowed
for it held a million hues
as night stood waiting.
Reds and plums, hailed fading blues
Orange and pink spread the news.
I took a photo
of scarlet sun of my heart
in midst of tango.
A prelude to faint starlight-
in time's pretty pause....

Honored By a Natural Eagle Dancer
George Flying Eagle wowed the Navajo with his wisdom
He was a natural eagle dancer, honoring his spirit totem.
Showing a free spirit, and a love for his people
We watched him dance, enthralled, not fully understanding
But feeling honored and revered that he brought his gift to us....

A Happy Clown To My Child
Nothing has felt softer on my face
Like a fresh breeze with tenderness
She swings her small fragile arms
Slaps my face with soft palms
She blossoms with a teething smile
Giggling at me to make a screeching cry
I speak gibberish to keep her wowed
A clown to wipe out the frown on my child...

Power of Individuals
Queen Victoria ruled half of the world;
Michael Jackson wowed the world with his moon-walk;
Shakespeare's inspiration to poets is immortal;
Beethoven's music tastes like milkshake to the ears, even at present.
All these people, and many such others, have made history as individuals,
fascinating, influencing and dominating millions of souls. This reminds us that
the smallest ants cast long shadows....

A Spaceman's Tall Tale
I think the spaceman tells tall tales I allowed.
Others were excited by his stories; I was not wowed.
Today he told me about a planet that he caught.
And an interplanetary catfish that was full of red snot.
They might be true, a girl said to me; her name is Naïve.
She was aptly named by parents who had grieved.
Because her sister Common Sense had died at birth.
I had no words for her, but I felt some mirth....

Carousel To the Sky
A journey with a celestial spell
Which takes him to the clouds
A one of a kind carousel
Which will leave him wowed
He holds on tight as he takes the ride
On an adventure far away
And his horse will simply glide
Where he will meet bird at play
The carousel will return to Earth
As the journey comes to an end
But he did get his money's worth
And found some feathered friends

My Totem Hat
My favorite hat is a totem hat.
It starts with a bull, then a deer, then a catfish, wearing a tiara.
It is something that I created myself once upon a time
To delight kindergarten students.
They giggle incessantly, but do not get the
significance of it.
The fourth graders are less than wowed.
I care not. I did not make it for them.
I made it to get the kindergarten students to giggle.
This hat is my joy,
and keeps me
excited about my job
as a school counselor....

Diamonds Are Performers All
Diamonds, they are liquid light;
their rays, hypnotize the eyes.
Like Brother Sun, they may be harsh;
for they can cut apart glass.
A “girl’s best friend”, they truly are;
they do “dress to impress”.
In the oven where they bake, we live;
awaiting their debuts;
oh, they’ll all become great stars;
performing on stages of the heart;
the audience wowed as never before;
diamonds only get better with age;
we should all become their stage.
