LOUD LIBRARIAN

And the deaf librarian is too loud.
She slings a piercing shrill into the crowd.

The books fly off shelves.
Do they blame themselves?

The Library of Congress, she’d have wowed!

I have heard her at the local library here. Sometimes when the weather is icy and rainy, I walk the basement periodical stacks at the university library; usually quiet but occasionally I hear her ranting and raving in her office. Perfect last line.
