wannabe king smiles
bluffing bold with empty hand
yet in one last move,
he plays the lone trump he holds ~
mighty king of spades, pyrite

Can't wait heart ache

Mitchel Romney
Wannabe escape artist Ed's first trick
took place in a tank of water
Tied up with chains.
Wife swapped padlock key.
Also final trick.
There once was an unusual tuna
Charlie dreamed of sailing to the luna
Bought a huge water balloon
But along came a typhoon
Farewell Charlie, wannabe Kahuna

Gray squirrel bends water
above his tiny head.
Could it be he’s an
Avatar wannabe?
Magic play
may not be
nature’s way.
Hey, I like
his display.
amused I am
by the sieve
of a mid-city wannabe drunk
through which but a single
narcissistic gutter-rat apparition
can pass --

Everything around me
Turns into poetry--
But badly written.
My brain foams
Like it was bitten
By a rabid dog
Or like an angry mob
That doesn’t know what it’s ranting about.
fire spreads quickly
animals scurry to safety
red rose untouched
Haiku Wannabe contest
Trillinea O first attempt at this form.
I could not find on the soup so I labeled
it as a Haiku.
I hear the scream in every thought of every life on our world
Which is tearing its self appart
Few will hold it together so around by eachother we’re twirled
And I can’t stop it breaking my heart
There once was a ninja named Dwight
who sneaked in my bedroom one night.
Bumping into my bed,
when he saw me, he said,
"I'd do better in here with some light!"

POETIC JUSTICE
There was an old man from Fontaine
Who walked with aid of a cane
One night he was mugged
By a wannabe thug
In the graveyard, the thug was lain

the person I want to be
is certainly not to become ~ some idealistic wannabe
but definitely one ~ that pursues a legitimate fantasy
hinted a ventriloquist to his puppet ~ lost in soliloquy
They've named a new dish of pasta and noodles
After my wannabe chef, makes dough by the oodles
They call it “la scotta”
To try it ya oughtta
Puts hair on your chest and makes you bug out your pupils!!!

Vigilante wannabe
Intentions always good
Lost causes are his nemesis
Loyalty his strength
Abysmally annoying
Gauche socially to say the least
Egomaniac~ there’s one in every village
AP: Honorable Mention 2021
I gaze into my sons' lives
and see myself
One's a fitness trainer
So was I at his stage
One's a finance man
Ditto for me at 24
One's a soldier
Now that's what I
secretly yearned to be
My youngest son
is the 'real me' ~
tho' he's no forever
wannabe
We're jottin' down our poems, me boys
We're jottin' down our poem
From old Bombay to Galway Bay
We're jottin' down our poems
All wannabe Byrons just step aside
We're the best bards on land and foam, Aye!
We're jottin' dowm our poems, me boys
We're jottin' down our poems
Short, but full of lies
Your hate lies in those emerald eyes
That hateful glance
Wannabe stance
If you're a hater
Why do you wanna be her
Stole her friends
Wanted her relationship to end
She thought she was so perfect
So she tried to end it
End her
Destroy her
Be her
Receiving
believing
forgiven
I want to be the same kind of father that God is
forgetting
provider
and blessing
protecting
I want to be the same kind of father that God is
embracer
heart fixer
comforter engaged and laughter
I want to be the same kind of father that God is
I don't wanna be
a wannabe no more
waiting for opportunity
to come a'knocking
on my open door
and the day she does
tho' the lights are on
there's no one home
as I'll probably be
out to lunch
knowing me
so I wanna see
'Been there, done that!'
on my resumé because
I'm oh-so tired
of being a never-was
With no good reason or excuse
Billionaires waste wealth and let loose
While earth goes awry
They'll float on a fly by
So Bezos can seem to be Zeus
Author's comment: M I impressed? Not at all. It only goes to show what small minds they have. You couldn't pay me to go his rocket either--even if it is the best money can buy. What is wrong with these people?
undulating waves rise and fall, drenching
whirlwind twister destroys life . . .
flames blaze in the night

Not me I said
You aint never gonna get me to stay
Batting my eyelashes
Rolling my eyes
Huffing Puffing till you realize
That I’m not
Submissive or Subdued
Hey you over there
Get on up and dance to this beat
People pleaser
Wannabe
Sad isn’t it
That I’m not
Submissive or Subdued
Wifey Material
Spirit of light
But you will never get your knight
Until you become
SUBMISSIVE & SUBDUED
.
beneath a sea, plates of dispute spawn waves,
born with the intent to leave the shoreline
altered
_
turbines of wind in pillage of fury,
kill the helpless, but do not leave courage
altered
_
from brilliance of a firestorm's vengeance
don't be blinded by fear, hope must not be
altered
