Notes About The Poem

A few years ago I read twice weekly at a local nightclub.  Bukowski was one of the most popular with the crowd (for obvious reasons.) When I read Robert Lindley's recent blog post on Buk, I was amused by Buk's advice (or rules) for being a writer.

The following are the thoughts I had early this morning. I attempted to follow Buk's advice which is not easy since I tend to rewrite my work several times before publishing.

4am Thoughts

amused I am
by the sieve
of a mid-city wannabe drunk
through which but a single
narcissistic gutter-rat apparition
can pass --
