A listener's ear,
simpatico, soft shoulders,
collecting tear stains,
from my variegated voice,
the empty air has become.

toasty variegated yarn from Oskaloosa
the hues of colors
red blue yellow green
knitting needles are clicking along
warm mittens and slippers
afghans and shawls
a dress for a toddler
clickety clack clickety clack

Another butterfly, colors dappled, enters, flying gracefully heavenward. I just kneel,
looking, mesmerized. Natures overture plays quietly. Restless, suddenly thrusting upward,
variegated wings, exiting, youthfully zoom.

vast wonder-scape
expanse
variegated flora silent joy
confetti heat-swirl rise
oaken nesting suites sprinkled
seedlings dispatched on cue

Absolutely beautiful carols,
Decorations elaborate,
Faces glowing,
Happy instrumentals,
Jolly kisses,
Lovely mistletoe needing
Only pucker- power,
Quick-stepping reindeer,
Snow, treats unexpected,
Variegated wrappings.
Xmas yearly zaniness.

Marigolds are my favorite, variegated, ruffled and sweet.
Roses, hollyhocks, bluebells or coneflowers, hard to beat.
Did I mention lilies, or daffodils? They do lead the parade.
Cannot eliminate purple lilacs whose scent wafts in the shade.
Fragrances of spring in the air. Love all flowers I have to share.

Smiling brightly,
a field of happy faces
in golden glow;
dressed in their finest
variegated greens and gold’s,
they dance upon the breeze.
Pollinated by the bees,
seeds devoured by the birds,
nourish all life;
from birth to death to birth;
a symphony of beauty,
displayed upon Gaia’s breast.

turncoats in autumn
the stupendousness of leaves
sprinkle my driveway
golden as topaz
her variegated colors
autumns fine maple
rounded leaves of oak
plotting how to be crimson
sneering at walnut
stagnant fir soldier
retaining her verdent
keeping her counsel
october line up
shows off her gold finery
teasing november

Pouring forth of genuine emotions
Overflowing with ideas and notions
Enjoyment, merriment, fun and commitment
Time immemorial in existence
Rich collection of world renowned poetry
Young talents attempting to create history
Shining example of one family
Opportunities to enter freely
Universally acknowledged

I am a professional knitter, she said at her front door.
As if we could not guess it, we could barely see her floor.
Yarm was everywhere, in magnificent colors galore.
Variegated, twisted, baby soft, a knitted band aide on her sore.
Afghans piled high on couches were sleeping with a snore.
We knew she could make herself happy from here to forevermore.

On jade stems iris blooms gently swayed
in hues of lavender, dusty pink and mauve
until pollen seekers were lured to the banquet
of sweetmeats. Within velvet petals they feasted.
In Monet's garden the buddings grew
in variegated colors brushed on a canvas.
Pastel beauties that no fingers dared to cut,
for to be clipped at the height of life meant death.

A palette of tones and modes carefully laid on an unburning flame. _by Poet
I gasp and utter silent sigh, in thrall
poised on the edge of crisp susurrous fall
mother's leaven variegated peaks
lie on a sea of amber - scarlet streaks,
yellow, and green allures xenial call

Variegated streaks
criss-crossing,
soothing lavender
then fiery maroon,
with belts of amber
in between.
Slate blue bluffs
catch the sun before it lands,
dipping into the rippling orange
of the mottled lake.
The pitch black pines are still,
passed the rusty mesh
of a rickety screen door.
Our eyes were fixed
up to the moment
your coppered profile
became shadow,
and I could see you no more
in the hazy light.

golden chestnut browns sparkling against natures reds and yellows
oaks, maples, sycamores, pregnant with autumn leaves
mammoth round topped giants peppering the countryside
climbed maybe in our youth, but many limbs are way up high
new hampshire is a showcase of beauty in october
before her mountains lose their variegated spotted leaves
walnuts, acorns and almonds are falling now
into the open paws of excited happy squirrels

Imagism
the winter sunset
is so beautiful
with a rosy pink band
like a ribbon streaking
a lovely band of color
across the sky
beyond the frosty trees
below a stain a vein
of yellow gold
with sprinkles of purple
& navy
variegated mottled sublime
swirling
with winter white
smears blurring & streaking
uninterrupted
for a moment
visible & then
slipping falling
& fading

Moths, butterflies, monkeys and variegated parrots too
Revered her before her reign of being aloof was through.
They congregated in her ginger hair, until there was no more room.
The monkey perched on her left shoulder,
and parrot shared some doom.
“She’s gotten a position elsewhere; to another island she must go.”
The creatures sighed, each feeling more than a bit of woe.
She had been their protector since 1992.
They had no idea now what to do.

A jubilant smile had she.
Publicly sunny,
Affable her presence.
Pure her uncanny eyes were.
Flawless was her name among folks.
In murky light a honed skill
had she adorned.
A shell variegated her body
enhancing her crimson forsaken soul.
She would not stem it.
she would keep it as a proof of her
Corporality.
To mourn was not proper.
she had to be perfect
for them.
Suppressed her art must be.
No one was meant to know her blotch.

poised on the edge of fall
mother's leaven variegated peaks
lie on a sea of blood-orange streaks,
tease of yellow, and green loveliness.
facing upwards, as the breeze
seeks a hum from her breast richly pleased
of endowment; she sneaks a peek
upward towards the salmon ocean sky,
transcendent heaven,
and the lord's painted birds fly by.
nigh the slow rivers edge
reflecting its ripple comeliness.

This old gal is desperate for a new coat
Rust covers her cracked and peeling frame, but
No one seems to notice for
In Winter, an icy lace shawls warmly wraps around her.
In Spring, misty dew drapes her shoulders.
In Summer, variegated greens and blues surround her like a fine silk scarf.
In Autumn, her mottled tones are enveloped within Joseph's arms.
She stands a stately Queen robed in royal array,
Reigning over her domain with
Seasonless grace and grandeur.

Personification
Parallel colors go on forever, others swirling and merging,
Hued rainbows and smoky sunsets, from a chaos surging!
Hanging from the Christmas tree, ruby peppermint candy,
And circus clowns entertain us, attired so gaily and badly.
Often seen on animals, birds, leaves and even mountains,
Coloring all the days of our lives, from mystical fountains!
Arrayed all in purple stripes, the mischievous joker is wild,
Sharing this streaked world where very nature has smiled.

Helpless is each one who breaks the life barrier,
Umbrellaed beneath earth's vaporous dome,
Marked with the blemishes of a blighted race.
Angels look down upon them, try to guard their faltering ways.
Naked they are born and naked they depart;
In between the poles an unknown span of days
To letter their life story, a tale woven of variegated yarns,
Yearners, always, for fulfilling Light.

Drifting by variegated green banks,
Moving water in all shades of blue.
A trout flashing his silver sides,
The setting sun in a golden hue.
The brown of restless rocky bottom,
Shadowed eddies beaded with black.
Wiley otters play in shades of grey,
A wood duck with gilded red on it’s back.
The Klamath River a kaleidoscope of color,
One of the last wild rivers in this “golden” state.
California once crowned by natural beauty,
Safeguard what remains… before it’s to late.

Flowering nature defines regrowth
within cycles of perpetuating life
Rotational seasons universally
acclaimed, fruitful, abundant, then
withering to autumnal variegated scents
and scenic hues of vibrant golds, copper
and plum feted reds decrying diminishing
twilight hour before extinguishing
concealed beneath the inclement
winter’s blanket of snow
Vibrational throb
instrumentally wakens
snowdrop’s snowy head
