leaves of october

turncoats in autumn
the stupendousness of leaves
sprinkle my driveway

golden as topaz
her variegated colors
autumns fine maple

rounded leaves of oak
plotting how to be crimson
sneering at walnut

stagnant fir soldier
retaining her verdent
keeping her counsel

october line up
shows off her gold finery
teasing november
